Cole caught up with Lee at the corral. His bay horse, Diogenes, was already saddled, and Lee was just finishing up with Hester, Jack’s horse.
Looking at the picnic cooler and the bulging packs loaded on the two horses, he shook his head. “You know, we’re only going to be gone for an afternoon.”
“Didn’t want you to forget anything.” Lee was grinning just a bit too much for comfort.
About to ask what that meant, Cole fell silent when he caught sight of Jack walking toward them, hat in hand, sunlight gilding his hair. Damn, the man was beautiful, especially with his face glowing like it was just then. The lines of stress had smoothed out, and he looked young and happy.
