"Dad, it's just a party; I haven't seen my friends in years. " "It's not safe, Elena, "Allesandro said, his eyes fixed on the newspaper his maid had just brought him. Allesandro was in the study room when Elena came to tell him about an exclusive club her friends suggested they'd all go to that night. " Why can't I go, u never stopped me from clubbing before. Please, Dad, my girls are all going to be there; it's like a welcome party for me", Elena lamented. "You're not going anywhere without a bodyguard; if you don't want one, then that's final," Allesandro said. Fuming Elena stormed out of the office and went straight to her room. Elena never liked being followed by her dad's soldiers. They always sucked the fun out of everything and didn't know the definition of privacy. Moreso, her friends felt awkward each time a hefty, black-suited, and frowning man kept following them around. " I have to go to this club, and I'm definitely not taking anyone with me." Elena ran into the bathroom and proceeded to take a cold shower. After that, she put on a short red dress and black heels and styled her hair in a way she liked. She wasn't going to make it obvious that she was going to a party, so she covered herself with a long black robe, changed her heels to plain footwear, and put the black heels in a tote bag she had planned on taking earlier. " I have to look for a way to get out of here without being noticed," Elena said, peering out her room window. Coincidentally, she saw Leo step out of the mansion and start addressing the soldiers guarding the house. She couldn't hear what Leo was saying, but it seemed to be working; all the soldiers started entering the mansion. Without wasting time, Elena sprung into action. Grabbing her bag she ran down the stairs with the speed of lightning. When she was sure that all the guards were in the Grand meeting room, she ran out the door and straight to her black Ferrari. " I can't believe I made it," Elena said, panting and laughing at the same time. She ignited the car and started driving out making sure no one saw her. She drove off with speed, not wanting to get caught by her Dad. Just when Elena thought she would successfully get away with it, she noticed that the main gate was locked. " No, no, no, it's locked," Elena said in despair, coming to a halt. The security men stood at the gate with their loaded arms and weapons. One walked up to her, " Good day Miss, where are you headed" . "Nowhere in particular," Elena said, her heart racing with so much speed. "I just thought I could take a little drive around the neighborhood. I just came back, and there's been a lot of changes. Thought I could look around for a bit. "Alone??" the security guard said, looking in the car's back seat. "Like I said, it's just a little drive around," Elena said between gritted teeth , obviously getting impatient. "Well according to your father, you are not allowed to leave without a bodyguard, " the security man said, returning to his post. Out of frustration, Elena had no choice but to drive back to the mansion. Elena stormed into the grand meeting room and walked straight to her Dad who was seated at the head of the table. " Dad, how could you do this to me?" she said, dropping her bag on the table. "Do you think you can sneak out of this house without my knowledge??" Allesandro said, raising an eyebrow. " I know you Cara and I know your every move, now before you entered this room we were discussing something important. We would like to continue". Elena, not caring about the number of hefty soldiers staring at her, was not ready to bulge. "I'm not leaving until you give me let me live my life the way I want to. I'm not a child anymore Papa, I don't need anyone waiting on me. I am a full grown woman and I deserve my own freedom" "I am only doing this for your safety, I don't want anything bad to happen to you . I'm only trying to protect you but you're just too stubborn to understand". " That's funny cause I got it from you " Elena backfired " You can leave if you take a soldier with you, " Allesandro said, not wanting to prolong the matter any further. " He'll go with you," Allesandro said, pointing at one of his men. Elena turned around to see a brown-haired man leaning on the wall . His aura spoke danger even though he was calm and his stare alone could slice through a metal bar. This sent shivers down Elena's spine. " This is Dante and if you really want to go partying with your friends, he's going with you," Allesandro said with a stern and unquestionable voice. Elena knowing fully well that her father was not going to change his mind, had to give in. " Fine, but he better not get in my way," Elena said leaving the room. Elena arrived at the car first and had to wait a few minutes for Dante to come out of the mansion. "I thought Dad had changed his mind," Elena said as she settled into the driver’s seat. "I'm driving," Dante replied, snatching the car keys from her hands. "That was rude," Elena scoffed, but Dante didn’t seem to care about her feelings. The two got into the car, with Elena in the back seat, and they drove away from the building. Club Doro was a famous establishment in the area and one of the best in the city. With its fabulous interior and exquisite meals, it attracted people from near and far. Elena had visited an Italian club before, but not Club Doro; the age limit to enter was 21, and when she traveled abroad for school, she was only 19. She had been to countless American clubs, but from what she gathered, Club Doro was one of the finest. As Dante drove the car down the main road, Elena couldn’t help but smile at the changes that had occurred during her absence. The city now had many more restaurants and hotels. Dante remained quiet throughout the drive, and Elena felt the urge to break the silence. "So, Dante, how long have you been working for my dad? It seems like he really trusts you to look after his only child," she asked. Dante didn’t respond, which started to annoy her. None of the Mafia members ever ignored her out of fear of her father, the Don, but Dante seemed to be an exception. "I haven't met you before. Did you join while I was..." Elena’s words were cut short as Dante came to a sudden halt. "What is wrong with you? You could have given me a heads-up before doing that!" Elena fumed. "We're here," Dante said, paying no attention to her frustration. Elena quickly took off her robe and switched her flats for heels while mumbling inaudible words under her breath.
