Chapter 10
Enemy Land, II
01:43 pm
St. Magoc, Seattle
The door to the principal’s office is suddenly open, revealing Vira with gun silencers in each hand. Ileong follows close behind with a rifle, immediately backing her up. Both aim their weapons at Xenos, ready to fire.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” The man can barely contain his anger when they bust in. This is outrageous. No one has ever openly attempt to attack him ever since he bought the school. How dare they trespass and barge in here.
“I don’t like playing cat and mouse, so let’s just jump right in, shall we? We’re Aramis?”
“Who’s Aramis?” he asks, confused.
“My cousin. Where is he?” she presses.
“How should I know where your cousin is? Now get out before I—”
Before Xenos can finish that sentence, Vira fires one of her guns. Xenos jumps off from his chair in reflex, causing the bullet to hit the bookshelf behind him instead. She fires another gun from her other hand, but this time he is ready to counter her attack. He pulls out a handgun from under his desk and fires aloud. The two bullets connect in mid air, canceling each other.
What he does not realize, however, is that Vira fires twice the last time, instead of once. So when the third bullet comes into his line of sight, Xenos does not have enough time to dodge it.
He falls on the ground with a heavy tug on the carpet, knocking his chair in the progress.
Since his gun does not have a silencer, the whole school probably heard the shot. They are sure that someone will come in to check on him soon, so they have to move fast if they want to get anything out of him.
Vira approaches his lying figure. Xenos tries to crawl away, but she places herself on top of him before he can get away. Her pale eyes search for his bullet wound. Scanning his body, she finds blood gushing from the side of his stomach. Removing his jacket out of the way, she inserts one finger into the open wound.
A scream erupts from his throat. That only causes her to want to draw out more from him. Knowing her sadistic instinct, Xenos bites into his lips. Only a horse muffling comes out when she presses the second time.
“Where is Aramis, Xenor? We know that you sent out that email to me. You hate me, right? That’s why you got him. To get to me,” this time, instead of interrogating him, it sounds more like she’s accusing him.
“I don’t know. I have no idea where he is!” he screams.
“Liar! I hate liars. And you know what I do with’ em!” Vira aims the gun at her non-bloody hand. He prepares for the shot, but it never comes. When he opens his eyes once again, he sees the other person stopping her.
“If you kill him, you’re never gonna get answers from him. Don’t do it, Vir,” Ileong says to her, trying to soothe her anger. She grits her teeth, her silver eyes burning fiercely, but lowers her gun in the end.
“This is stupid. Just answer the question and I won’t kill you,” she says to the man underneath her.
Tenor stares at her, his eyes contemplating. He moves his lips to say something, but the sound of a gunfire stops him.
Vira sees the bullet closing in on Ileong. She does not have much time to decide. She knows that he won’t be able to dodge it at this distance. So instead she pushes him down, placing her in the bullet’s shooting range instead.
The bullet hits her, and dead weight falls on top of Xenor.
Is she dead? That’s the first question that comes to his mind. The girl who almost killed him and has destroy St. Magoc three years ago. He has spend years of planning on how to make her suffer. He has rebuilt this school and reanimated the caste system that she hated the most during her study here, just so that he could get a rise out of him. And now, she’s dead before he can even land a wound on her.
The b***h has died on him!
Pushing her away, Xenor tries to move his head to see who had shot her.
“Principal Severn, are you alright?” asks Megan, who is now standing next to the blonde’s unconscious body. Did she knock her out? There doesn't seem to be any sign of blood from the other girl.
“I’m fine,” he replies harshly to his secretary. When was she ten minutes ago? She should have stopped them from coming in.
“What would you like me do with them?” Megan asks, tugging in her gun.
“Bring her to the room underground,” he answers half-heartedly.
“And the other one?”
Instead of answering her question, Xenor presses two fingers against Vira’s neck. He senses a steady pulse. Of course, she wouldn’t be dead that easy. He brushes off the strange sense of relief that he feels when he discovers that fact. Checking for wounds, he finds some blood tickling down her forehead.
“Call for Doctor Meth.”
