Loosed Bonds
Tolburt had to pull the torturer's body off of Julian before he could remove the bonds that held Julian onto the apparatus, and it took a lot of huffing and puffing over the span of a short eternity before he managed it. Finally, though, the weight lifted off Julian's chest as the torturer fell limply to the floor with the most solid thud Julian had ever heard from a body, and he breathed in a long, grateful few breaths.
A few seconds later, Julian was free. He hopped down from the apparatus and immediately found himself swaying. He caught himself with his left hand on the edge of the infernal machine and raised his other to his forehead as a wave of nauseating dizziness swept over him. And with the dizziness, renewed pain from where the thug had walloped him.
