Don't Do This!

Kate's POV Could it be Liam- Damien whatever his real name was Maybe he had come to apologize. To fix things and give me my life back. His child was growing inside of me, even if I was angry with him, I couldn't deny that I sort of needed him right now. I washed my face and looked at myself in the mirror. If it was Liam at the door. I needed to be strong to face him and tell him what I had discovered. It wasn't going to be easy and I wish I didn't need his help but I did. I rinsed my face a second time before heading to the front door. I opened the door without peeking through the peephole. In front of me was not Liam. It was my landlord and behind him were two buff men “What do I owe this visit Mr. Fred?” I knew I wasn't late on rent so what did he want? “I'm sorry ma'am but this building has been bought by the Castellos and you need to evacuate” The Castellos? Were they not satisfied with taking my job, car and sister, now they wanted my house as well. I'm the victim. I'm the one who was lied to. I'm the one whose heart was broken and yet I'm the one getting punished. Why? “How long do I have before I have to leave?” There was no point fighting it. It was clear they were dangerously powerful people. “Right now. My men will help you pack” he signalled for them to go in but I closed the door and stepped out, stopping them from entering into my house. “It's too soon. I don't have anywhere to go right now. Please let me sleep in tonight and tomorrow morning I'll be out. Today has been a lot already” Mr. Fred didn't look pleased at my reply and from the way he was looking at me. It was clear he had read the article. He used to respect me but now he looked at me like I was some sort of cheap slut. “That's none of my business” “You're the landlord, I paid rent to you. It is your business” “I already sent your rent back to you. You can check your account” I checked it quickly and he really did. “Still, you can't just send me out in the middle of the day. I'll leave tomorrow morning. Goodbye” I made to go in and shut the door but the Landlord pushed his foot forward and stopped the door from closing. “I wanted to do this the nice way but you're not cooperating” he said in a tone I didn't like “All I'm saying is…” he didn't let me finish and pushed the door open, my hand was still on it which caused me to fall down. Instinctively I held my stomach. I knew I had to protect my child from harm so when the men entered my home and began packing up my things, I didn't say a word or fight them. I stood at the corner, my phone in my hand and tears in my eyes. I tried calling my sister's number to ask if I could spend the night but the call was not going through, I tried her husband's line but it was the same thing. They had blocked my number. I had just found out I was pregnant. I needed someone to talk to. Someone to be on my side but I had no one. I had never felt so alone… There was only one person I could call at the moment. The man who had put me in this mess. The father of my unborn child. If it was up to me, I would never speak to him again but I couldn't just leave my life up to fate when I had a baby inside me. I only needed his help for the child. That was it. My fingers trembled as I dialed his number, I hated that I had memorized it. “Kate, are you okay?” His tone would have confused me if I wasn't staring at hefty men as they scattered my house. He didn't care. If he did, this would not be happening to me. “Why are you doing this to me?” my voice cracked as tears filled my eyes “What are you talking about?” he genuinely sounded confused. If the landlord had not mentioned his name I would've believed he didn't know what was happening. “Haven’t you lied enough? Stop playing dumb. What are you getting from ruining my life?” “I'll send you an address. Meet me there by 6pm and I'll sort all this out. I can't talk now” with that he ended the call My phone chimed immediately with the address he sent ***** It was a few minutes after six when I arrived at the address. It was a little house in a more secluded part of the town. My head was still in chaos but I tried to put myself in order even though my thoughts kept drifting to my belongings that were sprawled across the street in front of my apartment. I knocked on the door and within seconds, the door opened to reveal Liam's wife. Eloise Castello I had done a Google search about her and she was a sweetheart online, owning many charities but underneath it all, there were few comments about a shady side to her, people who messed with her never remained the same. I was already on the receiving end of it. I wasn't here to see her. I wanted to see Liam. I wanted to tell him I was carrying his child. I wanted his apology, I wanted his explanation. I wanted him to promise to protect me from the wrath of the public and the woman in front of me. “Welcome, Kate,” Eloise said with the signature smile I had seen in her photos. Why was she smiling at me? What game was she playing? “Where's Liam? I mean Damien” I asked from where I stood. I didn't trust this woman. “He is on his way. He had some important business to attend to” I nodded but still stood outside. “Come in. I think we need to talk” I looked at her and thought for a second. Liam would be here any minute, he was the one who asked me to come. I stepped into the house, two bodyguards stood at the corners. Did she think I would hurt her? One of the guards locked the door behind me. Something told me to run. It was like a voice in my head. It was clear and very audible. I immediately turned around and tried to open the door but the key had been removed. “I want to leave. Open the door, please” I told Eloise but she didn't move an inch. “You just got here. Why would you leave now?” she asked kindly, which I knew she was not. I felt my hands tremble “I want to leave, please tell your men to open the door” I asked her and struggled with the door “You're smarter than you look” she said, taking a step towards me “But you're too late” I bit my lip as I looked at her “What do you want?” “I just want to talk” “Okay let's …” *t**t* Eloise landed a slap on my cheek. My eyes opened wide and my hands rose to touch my bruised cheek. “What the heck?” I yelled at her but she ignored my remark “You know, when he cheated on me, the first year of our marriage, I could understand, we were having issues and I had been distant. I let it slide and besides it was a one time thing, that was what he said to me” her eyes grew more mad and I took a step back. If I were to defend myself against her, her men would have my neck. That was why they were here, to protect her so she could do all she wanted to me. Oh GOD, why did I come here? “But then he did it again and this time for two whole years. He seemed happier so I thought it was our family that made him happier. Do you know how painful it was to find out that the source of my husband's joy was you and not me” My breathing hitched as I looked between the guards and the woman in front of me. Even if she gave off psychopath vibes. I was also a woman and could relate to her. I knew she was hurt and I felt bad that I was a part of the reason. She was a hurting woman. We weren't supposed to be fighting each other, we were supposed to be fighting Liam. He had hurt the two of us. “I'm sorry about everything. I really am but you have to let me go. I'm innocent. I didn't know he was married. If I knew I would never have been in a relationship with him.” It was the truth and it hurt that no one believed me, not even my own sister. She rolled her eyes at my words and continued her speech. “He even proposed to you. Do you know that he never proposed to me? Our parents set us up to get married and that was it. He never even acknowledged it. We just got married” a tear rolled down her eyes and for a minute I forgot about my own pain and all I could feel was hers. She loved her husband but he didn't love her. We both were victims. I was a victim of his lies and she was a victim of his betrayal and a loveless marriage “I'm sorry Eloise, you don't deserve to be treated like this. You shouldn't have to stay in a marriage where you're unhappy” *t**t* another slap landed on my cheek and this time she burst out into a mock laugh I held my cheek and sucked in a breath as a tear fell from my eyes. I had to hold myself and not retaliate because if I did, the guards would come at me and I needed to stay safe so my child would be safe. “You want me to leave my husband after all I've invested so that you can have him, you little b***h” I didn't want him but I didn't say anything. Whatever I said was only going to enrage her the more. “Finish her” she said to the men and began to walk towards the other door in the room. Finish me? What did that mean? From the look on the men's faces I could tell what it meant “Wait” I yelled out. “Please don't do this” “Why shouldn't I?” Eloise asked me. “I'm pregnant” I yelled without skipping a beat She stopped and looked at me, for a second, shock passed through her eyes but it cleared quickly and anger took its place. “Finish her and her bastard baby” “No!” I screamed as I moved back in fear. The men looked like they did this for a living, they got high on my fear. I got on my knees and joined my hands in a plea “Please, if not for anything, for the child in my belly. Please don't kill my unborn child. Please let me go” I cried out, tears falling out of my eyes uncontrollably. I needed to protect my child but at this moment I didn't know how to. For a second I thought that I was safe. The men had stopped moving and they looked at each other. They exchanged a look but it passed immediately and they laughed out, a short maniacal laugh. It happened so fast, one of them delivered a punch to my face that pushed me down to the ground. “Please you don't have to do this. I'll give you anything. I'll go very far. I'll leave the country please don't do this” I cried out as I hugged my belly and stood to my feet but my pleas fell on deaf ears. I tried to defend myself, I tried to run. I screamed for help but nothing worked. The last thing I remembered was feeling a thick liquid flow down my legs before everything went black.
