Chapter 3

Alice watched as Gabriel disappeared into the forest once again, her heart heavy with worry. She had no idea what he meant by "something I have to do," but she knew that it couldn't be good.

Days turned into weeks, and Alice heard nothing from Gabriel. She tried to convince herself that everything was fine, that he was just busy with his own life. But deep down, she knew that something was wrong.

Finally, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She grabbed a flashlight and headed out into the forest, determined to find Gabriel.

As she walked deeper into the woods, Alice's sense of unease grew. The forest was different now, somehow. It was darker, quieter, like all the life had been sucked out of it.

Finally, she reached a clearing, and her heart stopped. In the center of the clearing, there was a large pile of ashes. Alice knew instantly what it was. It was the remains of a campfire.

As she looked around, Alice saw something that made her blood run cold. There were footprints all around the ashes, and they weren't human footprints. They were wolf prints.

Alice felt a surge of panic wash over her. She knew that Gabriel had been here, and that something terrible had happened to him. But she didn't know what to do.

Just then, she heard a rustling in the bushes, and she turned to see a large, black wolf emerge from the trees. For a moment, Alice froze, unsure of what to do. But then, she realized that the wolf wasn't aggressive. It was limping, like it was injured.

Alice approached the wolf cautiously, and it didn't move. As she got closer, she realized that it was Gabriel. He was hurt, badly, and he needed her help.

Alice didn't hesitate. She helped Gabriel to his feet and led him back to her car. She drove him to her apartment, where she cleaned his wounds and made him comfortable. Gabriel didn't say much, but Alice could see the pain in his eyes.

For days, Alice nursed Gabriel back to health. He was weak and feverish, but slowly, he began to recover. Alice never left his side, and Gabriel seemed grateful for her care.

Finally, one night, Gabriel woke up feeling stronger than he had in weeks. He turned to Alice and took her hand.

"I have to tell you something," he said, his voice hoarse. "Something I've never told anyone."

Alice waited, her heart pounding in her chest.

"I'm not just a werewolf," Gabriel said. "I'm a guardian. It's my job to protect the forest, to keep it safe from harm."

Alice stared at him in awe. She had no idea that werewolves had a purpose, that they had a duty to protect the natural world.

"But there's something else," Gabriel continued. "Something that I've been keeping from you. I'm not just any guardian. I'm the last of my kind."

Alice felt a sense of sadness wash over her. She didn't fully understand what Gabriel was telling her, but she knew that it was important.

"I don't know what's going to happen to me," Gabriel said. "But I know that I can't do this alone. I need your help."

Alice didn't hesitate. She took Gabriel's hand and squeezed it tightly.

"I'll do whatever I can," she said. "I'll be here for you, no matter what."

Gabriel smiled weakly, his eyes closing as he drifted off to sleep. Alice stayed by his side, watching over him as he rested. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew that she was ready for whatever came next.

As the days passed, Gabriel grew stronger and more determined to fulfill his duty as a guardian. He explained to Alice that there were dark forces at work in the forest, forces that threatened the balance of nature. He had been trying to stop them on his own, but it was too much for one werewolf to handle.

Together, Gabriel and Alice set out to investigate. They discovered that a group of humans had been illegally logging in the forest, destroying habitats and disrupting the ecosystem. They also learned that a coven of witches had been using dark magic to summon dangerous creatures and cause chaos in the area.

Gabriel knew that he had to act quickly. He couldn't let the humans and witches destroy the forest and endanger the lives of the animals and plants that depended on it. With Alice by his side, he formulated a plan.

They gathered evidence of the illegal activities and reported them to the authorities. They also devised a plan to confront the witches and put an end to their dark magic.

The night of the confrontation was intense. Gabriel and Alice were outnumbered, facing a coven of powerful witches. But Gabriel was determined to protect the forest at all costs. He fought with all his might, using his werewolf strength and agility to overpower the witches.
