I tilted my head, “I noticed something.” Trevor looked at me in confusing, “What?” I took a tray of coffees as Trevor grabbed the other one, “Sage’s family. Her parents haven’t call or seen Tristian.” He shook his head as I tilted my head as we walked back to the room, “What?” He sighed, “There is a reason why she ended up pregnant and was with Patrick in the first place.” We went into the elevator when I asked him, “What was the reason?” He pressed the button, “It is better she tells you. Just be there for her when she does.” I nodded at him, “I get it. We all have dark history.” I looked at my chest as Trevor know what I am talking about as he sighed, “Well you asked for that bullet. She didn’t.” Bullet why did he used that method ford. He sighed, “Tell the detective to look into Austin McDonald.” I tilted my head, “For what?” He sighed, “On who is threating Sage and why you was warned to keep her safe.” I shook my head as the elevator opened, “What the f**k happened to her.” He stopped at the door when he looked back at me, “She needs to tell you.” I tilted my head as he took a deep breath and opened the door, “Who wants coffee.” I looked at Sage as she tilted her head in question. She walked over to me as she took her coffee, “Is everything okay?” I nodded to her, “Everything is fine. Just trying to place a puzzle together.” She crocked her head to the other side as I leaned forward and gave her a kiss, “Babe, don’t worry about it. Everything is good.” She shyly smiled, “If you say so.” I sat on Jake’s lap when there was a knock on the door when it opened when Mr. Bradford walked in, “If I remember correctly, I had a request for the team to hang out with someone special for the day.” Tristian sat up, “I did.” I shook my head as I looked at Jake as he shrugged his shoulders. Mr. Bradford opened the door wider as the team piled in as Jake laughed, “You got to be kidding me.” Vincent walked over to Jake as they shook hands, “Nope. We had to come check up on everyone before the D day.” Tristian sat and talked with everyone of the team when Trevor pulled me aside, “Why don’t we go get some food for the team. They are all hungry.” Jake grunted, “They are not the only one.” Trevor pointed to him, “You are on damage control if they get too wild.” Jake rolled his eyes as he threw his hands up, “I got it under control.” Trevor winked at Jake as he pulled me out of the room. We walked out of the hospital to subway. We thought that was the safer bet to grab for a bunch of grown men that eat more than half their weight, “You need to tell him Sage.” I looked up at him, “Tell who, what?” He sighed, “About your parents. He wondering why they haven’t been here.” I shook my head as my eyes teared up, “I don’t know if I am ready to tell him yet.” He pulled the door open to a Subway as we walked in, “Jake needs to know and if Jake was warned because of your father he needs to know how to act.” I sighed, “I know but how do I tell the man I love what happened to me my whole life.” Trevor tilted his head, “Oh, so you do love him. Tiffany is going to love this.” I smacked him playfully, “Like you two didn’t see it before we did.” He danced his eyebrows as I laughed, “I will talk to him. Tonight.” He nodded to me as we got the food. I have been able to keep everyone calm as we waited for Sage and Trevor to get back to here as Tiffany sat down next to me. I looked at her and asked, “Why do you think Trevor had Sage go with him?” She shrugged her shoulders at me, “To tell her to tell you her dark secret.” I nodded, “He told you I asked about her parents.” Tiffany forced a smiled, “Jake, this is not going to be easy for Sage to tell you about her past. There is many reasons why she came here from Texas. It wasn’t just because of Racheal and Patrick the reason. She is running from something bigger.” I looked at her, “What does that supposed to mean?” She cleared her throat as Trevor and Sage walked in with food, “Who is hungry?” All you could hear from the room is a bunch of grown men grunt for food. The hospital staff kicked everyone out except for Jake as we sat on the pull – out bed as we watch a movie when I noticed that Tristian is passed out from the day events. Jake looked down at me and smiled, “You happy.” I looked into his eyes, “I am.” He pulled me into him, “You know that if there anything that you want share, I am here for you.” I searched his eyes as I took a deep breath then look forward, “My father abused the hell out of me.” I looked up at him, “He also let his friends…” He pulled me into him, “He ran a bike club and they acted like they was the hottest s**t in the world. They did make their names in the underground.” I sighed, “There was only two guys from the crew that decided that they was going to take my virginity from me when I was fourteen. My dad just stood there and watched them.” I started to cry as he placed his lips on my forehead and his muscles tensed up, “Anytime I would try to run they would beat me. Finally, when I was sixteen, Patrick came into my life. He had money and was interesting in me when I thought he was there for me.” I looked up at him, “He convinced my father to let me live with him.” I shook my head, “Let me take that back. He bought me to have me live with him.” Tears came down my face as I told Jake my life story, “Once he had me in his house that is when he got abusive. He told me that he would never wear a condom, so I had to be on birth control because no b***h was going to lock him down with a kid. I was placed on antibiotics for an infection when I got pregnant.” I looked at Tristian as the tears kept coming, “When he found out, he told me that he was going to take me back to my father and the baby wouldn’t live to see the day of light. He beat the s**t out of me, and I ran. I ended up into a shelter for batted woman” He tilted his head to me, “When did you decided to move to Boston?” I shook my head, “It wasn’t me that decided where I was going. The hospital that I was in because I almost lost Tristian that they had me move when Patrick showed up with Rachael as she threaten me. Apparently, I was the other woman. She was too much in love with him to see what he was doing to the both of us.” I looked down at her as she told me the horror story that she call her life. My god. I took a bullet but her. I tilted my head, “Trevor mention to me that I may have token a bullet by my stupidity, but you didn’t ask for it.” She sighed when she pulled up her shirt and pointed to her back. I looked. How s**t? How the f**k did I miss that? I placed my fingers on her shoulder where the scar was as she tears fell from her face, “I gave birth in Texas. Tristian was born almost a month early because I was shot. When the hospital staff saw how scared I was and how Patrick and Racheal treated me after being shot and giving birth, they decided to get me and Tristian out of there as quick as possible.” I dipped my lips onto her ear, “They will never touch you again.” She c****d her head as she leaned her head against mine as I kissed her soft neck, “I will never let them hurt you or Tristian again.” The next morning, I was on the phone with the Detective, “Austin McDonald.” He sighed as I heard him typing away as I waited for my order of coffees, “s**t, she changed her last name.” I shook my head, “Austin is her father?” He hummed, “Yup and it looks like he is a person of interested of her mother’s disappearance shortly after having Sage. She been missing since a month father Sage was born.” s**t this keeps getting worst. “The gun that shot Sage is in connections to other crimes around the state of Texas.” He said as that didn’t surprise me. I looked up at the ceiling, “Do you think that?” He cleared his throat, “I do. But I can’t say for certain. I am going to place uncovers at Tristian’s room.” I nodded as I whispered when I grabbed the coffees, “Thank you. I need to make sure that she is safe before I go under surgery for the bone marrow transplant.”
