Chapter Nine

1565 Words
A couple hours after everyone left, I stood by the bed as I am trying to get Tristian to relax as he is off the walls when the doctor came in, “Looks like the medication is working it’s way through the infection.” I groaned at him, “You think, Doctor Bailey.” He laughed as he opened the door wider as the staff brought in a big Television, video games and a console. I rolled my eyes as I saw Walter walk in, “Told you I would know how to calm him down.” Tristian sat down and started to play some video games with Walter as Tristian yelled, “Hey no fair.” Walter chuckled, “You might be a kid, but this is a game man. I will get that next touchdown.” The doctor and I talked as they played. I texted Jake letting him know that as soon as there is a match that we can go ahead with the transplant. I walked into Tristian’s room as Walter held his finger up to his lips then pointed to the couch as I saw Sage sleeping on the couch. I smirked as Tristian and Walter tried to be quiet as they sat-on Tristian’s bed playing ‘NFL Tournament’ when I quiet laughed, “So who is winning?” Walter threw his hands up, “The kid.” I chuckled as Tristian threw his hands up in celebration as he softly yelled so he didn’t wake his mother, “Touchdown.” Walter groaned as he smirked at me. I walked over to Sage as I leaned down to lay my lips on her forehead. She looked up at me and smirked when I lifted up, “Hey.” I picked up her legs as I sat down and snuggled up against her, “Hey, you.” I placed my hand on her leg as I rubbed my sweatpants that she was wearing, “I saw the text. That is great news.” I smiled at me, “It is.” I nodded as I whispered to her, “Let me know when they are ready to get him in and I will be here.” She mouthed, “Thank you.” I smiled at her as she closed her eyes again. Couple hours later I woke up to see it was completely dark outside, Tristian sleeping and Walter getting ready to leave when he smiled at me, “Cute kid.” I nodded as he tilted to see Sage curled up against me, “She not bad looking either.” I picked up the pillow next to me and threw it at him when he laughed and toss the pillow back on the couch, “She is hot that for sure.” I looked at her and smiled, “She is. She is an amazing woman.” He whistle low, “She more than amazing. She pretty damn prefect and a great mom.” I nodded at him as he smirked when he placed his Jakeet on, “Are you sure about this? About her and the kid?” I nodded to him as he sighed, “Okay then. I will make sure that they do not have deal with the media too much. We all know how they are.”  I rolled my eyes at him when my phone went off that made Sage groaned. I looked to see who it is and answered, “Mom?” Walter waved at me as he left and I rubbed Sage’s leg when my mother spoke, “Please tell me it true.” I chuckled, “If you are referring to me and Sage, it is true.” She squealed as I pulled my phone away from my ear when I heard Sage chuckling. I rolled my eyes as I placed my phone back to my ear, “Mom. Relax. We just started to date today.” She scowled me, “But yet you forgot to call your mom to tell her the news.” I groaned as Sage lifted up and curled against my chest, “Mom, there was a lot going on today. I was going to call you tomorrow to tell you.” She snorted, “What is more important than telling your mom that you are making her grandmother.” I sighed as I place my head into my free hand, “Mom, don’t get ahead of yourself, Tristian was off the wall earlier and I had practice.” She chuckled, “What do you except he five.” I groaned, “I know he is.” Sage looked up at me as my hand ran through her chestnut hair, “When can I meet them.” I knew this was coming. I looked down at Sage and smirked, “How about tomorrow morning. I have leave in the evening, but I will be with Sage and Tristian until then.” She squealed again, “I will be there.” Sage smacked my chest with her hand as I looked down and shrugged my shoulders, “Sorry, she will not give up until I tell her to come.” She shook her head as I told my mother good-bye. She looked over to Tristian, “So I am meeting your mother tomorrow.” I smirked at him, “The big lump of my father may come along for the ride.” She laughed as I pulled her into me, and I leaned my head down to place on top of her hair. The nursing staff let me, and Jake know that the couch spread out for a bed as we quickly moved and pulled it out to get comfortable. They brought us in blankets and sheets to sleep on. The nurse laughed at us as we made the bed and jumped into it. I woke up the next morning with an older woman looking down at me as I yelped when she said, “Hi Sage, I am Carol.” Jake groaned, “Mom. Please don’t scare her.” A man that sat by Tristian’s bed with an Xbox remote in his hand playing with Tristian chuckled, “I told her to let you two sleep.” Jake sat up in bed, “Dad.” His dad groaned, “Hold that thought son, I got make this touchdown.” He smirked at Tristian as Tristian stuck his tongue at him when Jake rolled his eyes, “What time is it?” Carol looked at her phone then pointed to Jake, “It is seven.” Jake rolled his eye again as his mother held up two bags, “Well, I didn’t want your food to get cold.” Jake held out his hands to the bag as he ripped through them and pulled out the food as he moaned, “Pancakes, Thanks mom.” He gave me a container as I opened it up. He dug into the food as his mother smiled, “I hope you know how to feed a football player.” Jake looked up at her, “I am sure if she doesn’t you will show her.” She wiggled her eyebrows, “I will.” I chuckled as I ate then pointed to Tristian, “His breakfast should be here soon.” Carol giggled, “He has already eating, and I got approval of pancakes from the doctor himself.” I nodded my head as I thanked her when she smiled, “Rick, is already attach to the little guy.” Rick looked up at me as he smiled, “Reminds me Jake when he was this age.” Jake laid his head back as he grunted, “No Jake childhood stories until after I leave for the airport.” I felt so embarrassed the way Sage was woken up. She must think that my mother crazy, but she is all smile. I got up after eating my breakfast to go to the bathroom as my mother looked at me and winked at me. I pointed her, “Play nice.” She shrugged her shoulders, “I don’t know what you are talking about Jake.” I shook my head as Sage laughed from the bed. I washed my hands when my phone rung as it was Nicole again. I groaned, “What do you want?” She snorted, “So, you are really with that chick.” I rolled my eyes, “I told you that I started to see someone.” She cried, “Is the kid yours?” I shook my head, “Nicole, does it matter if he is or not. We wasn’t together and never will.” She started to sob on the phone as I shook my head, “I need you.” I looked in the mirror, “Nicole. You need to stop calling me. I am with someone and I was never with you.” She screamed, “Please, Jake.” I shook my head, “Call me again and I will have a restrainer order slap against you.” She growled, “You will regret leaving me.” I shook my head as I hung up the phone. I can’t deal with crazy. My mother is enough. I walked out of the bathroom as Sage tilted her head, “One of you fan base.” I nodded as I sat next to her as my mother shook her head, “Please, tell it wasn’t that Nicole girl.” I tilted my head, “What do you know about her?” She shrugged her shoulders, “I was at the store yesterday and she cried to me that you cheated on her.” I rolled my eyes as Sage lifted her eyebrow, “She is crazy. I wasn’t even with her.” My mother shook her head, “Well I know she was crazy.” I looked at Sage as I placed my hand on hers, “I am getting a restraining order against her. She crossed the line by seeking out my mother.” She nodded as she said, “She comes here, I can’t promise I wouldn’t be calling for bail money.’ My mother laughed as she pointed to Sage, “I love her even more.”
