CHAPTER SIXTEEN
DINI CAME AWAKE SLOWLY, climbing back to awareness through several layers of fog. When she managed to open her eyes she felt woozy and had trouble forming a coherent thought.
Her hand, when she lifted it to her eyes, was shaky. She was covered in cold sweat and shivering. After a moment, she pushed herself slowly upright, only to fall back as nausea roiled through her stomach.
In the distance, the hokey soundtrack from a familiar sitcom was playing. Dini tried to recall the name of the show and couldn’t. She covered her mouth with her hand as bile rose in her throat. Several deep breaths later she managed to push the nausea back.
