CHAPTER TWELVE HIGH ABOVE THEIR HEADS the trees swung with manic energy, flinging leaves and small branches through the air like missiles. The rain was coming down so hard it stung their skin and made it nearly impossible to open their eyes. The ground had turned to sucking muck beneath their feet, making it even more difficult to run through the woods.
