NIGHT WAS SLIDING OVER the area like a blanket as Godric hurried toward the cabin. The car parked before the door was not the one he’d seen parked at the grocery store. Godric figured Andy had swapped cars again and wondered if the one he was looking at was stolen. The log building squatted under the wide, yellow arc of a security light, hovering above the cabin on a telephone pole. The light roiled with insect activity and the air was filled with a cacophony of sounds from the night insects coming to life within the surrounding woods. The cabin had two windows in the front and a rough-hewn wooden door in the center.
