CHAPTER NINETEEN DINI FOUND HER CLOTHES folded up and thrown into a trunk in the bedroom. They smelled like creek water and were stiff with mud. Grimacing, she forced herself to pull the jeans and shirt on, leaving her stiff brown underwear in the trunk. Her shoes weren’t in the trunk. She tugged her fingers through the wet tangles of her hair and looked around for a pair of flip flops or something unisex she could slide on just to protect her from rocks as she found her way through the woods. There was nothing in the bedroom. She found a pair of men’s slippers next to the upholstered chair sitting in front of the small, ancient TV.
