At the sound of Abe’s voice, low and hurried, I turned and saw that he was talking to someone on the phone. Who was he talking to at a time like this? However, I had no more time for worrying about that as in a flash Abe’s arms securely twisted me around so I was safely now behind him, and I heard the phone drop to the floor. There, right in front of us stood a dark, creepy-looking man I had come to recognize only too well. He had come into store and I recognized him from the failed grocery store visit too. And appearing beside him was also that same woman who seemed to be his accomplice, who I really thought I’d evaded. Abe moved us two steps backwards, and it didn’t feel like he was afraid but rather trying to put distance between us and them. It occurred to me as I tried not to look
