The Year was 2023 in a small town called Salvation, East California. I walked into a bar, the Johnson's bar, but the man I sort for was already gone. The bar tender, a man in his thirties, turned towards me, a look of confusion suddenly came over his face. I studied him, he had on a black shirt on with white strips and was drying a glass cup in his hands. At the counter and around were seated a few people all staring as I walked over to him. Their confusion was understandable as I was only seventeen and not yet allowed to drink, I shouldn't have been there and I never wanted to just so you know. I wore my favorite brown jacket, black tank top, blue jeans with the symbol of a sword on my right thigh and my all stars brown sneakers. My long black hair was let loose over my shoulders and my eyes were their usual sea green color.
"Can I help you miss?" He said, his accent and face suggested he was an immigrant, Latino maybe.
"Yes please." I said as drew near him. "I'm looking for a Mr Boneman, of The Burning, a biker gang?" I said taking a seat. His face showed surprise and some concern.
"What's business does a girl like you have with him?" he asked.
"Just stuff, you know where he is?" I said. He was hesitant for a moment but he told me.
"They're over at their usual meeting point, club fist, the local fight club, it seems one of their members is participating." He explains.
I found the place with ease on my bike, there were several choppers parked outside and rumblings of men and a few women coming from inside the club, there was a bouncer at the front, getting in without a pass or an invite would not be easy but I came down from my bike to take a chance. When I approached him I noticed he was a big black man dressed in a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a big black shoe, several chains and blings hung around his neck, and several rings were on his right hand to, they were two or three, I can't exactly remember.
"You looking for someone, miss?" he asked, always the same question with these people. I stood now by the front with him guarding the closed door, I didn't respond at first.
"I said you looking for someone, if not, keep moving, nothing to see here." He said gesturing with his hands for me to move along.
"Sorry sir I was just looking for Mr Boneman....."
"Never heard of him, now move long." He said. Thugs, always proving hard to get but I had no time to waste so I offered him a deal.
"How about this, you just go in and tell him his dealer from the west side is looking for him, he would know what to do then." I said, the Bouncer didn't want to do so at first, but I stood there staring, even smiling politely, he gave in. He turned and tapped the door three times, it immediately opened and some other guy came out, he whispered something to him to which he nodded and went went back in shutting the door behind him, a few seconds later Mr Wesley Boneman and two of his bicker buddies come out with him, he approached me with caution, he had to, I had just told him that the west coast dealer was looking for him, and he knew what it meant. Mr Wesley was the meanest looking bearded biker you've ever seen, but even I could see the fear in his eyes as he approached me, he had made a nasty deal, one with a devil.
"who..." his voice wanted to c***k with fear but he manned up and spoke again.
"Where did you say you was from Miss...?." He asked.
"Marshal, Sarah Marshal." I said, "..oh and I lied, I am not from any west coast." The man's countenance changed into rage and confusion. "who sent you?"
"you've sacrificed three of your....." I started but he cuts me off
"Enough!!." He said, then he signaled the other two to leave him, and they did, they went back in.
"Now, Child, tell me, why are you here, They send you?"
"No, but you sent it to yourself, they are coming for you Mr Bonesman." When I said this, his fear returned.
"What, what just do you mean?" He said.
"Your deal, it backfired." I explained. Immediately the ugly cry of a crow was in the air, followed by a howl of the biggest, baddest wolves I've ever known. It was usually the same pattern for every killing, first the bird cry, then the howls, and fourth their appearance and finally one's death. Wesley turned around at the sound of that, clearly frightened. The howls continued.
"They are here." I said, then I looked back and saw that the Bouncer was nowhere to be found and also that the club seemed to have gone silent. The presence of darkness always did that when it came, but ordinary civilians didn't know what to call it, they just called it the Dark Mist, because that was what they saw when it came, and usually anyone left in the mist ended up eaten or dead. I looked to the edge of the road by our right, Mr Bonesman was staring in that direction too. On the road at the farthest end that we could see stood a wolf, a big one. I immediately knew what they were, of course I did, I had encountered them before.
"Mr Bonesman, do you want to live?"
"wha..what?" was all he could muster to say. "Great , a good time to get confused." I thought.
"Do you want to live Mr Bonesman!!"
"yes, yess!!." He shouted but did something I didn't see coming, well it was expected but he should at least heard me out first, I turned to find out he was already running for his Chopper
"Wait!, that wont...!!" he was already on it and before I knew it he was off. When I turned back to face the wolf five more had appeared. I turned again to see that Mr Bonesman was already halfway gone, what he did not know was that wouldn't stop them from reaching him.
"Awooooooooolll." Went another wolf cry, soon they were multiple cries, the air was filled with malice, a strange sense of fear and death came over the area and it was overwhelming. If I had not been a Blood Servant I would have either curled up in a ball or passed out, the feeling was intense. I almost allowed the sight of them get to me, they were big, brutish set of demon wolves with black eyes the alpha's being blue. But like I always I remembered who I was, I worked up to the centre of the road. They sensed who I was seeing that I was not afraid of them, The alpha stepped forward and of they followed suit, soon I could hear growling coming from among them, they were getting ready to attack, they would tear through me to get to him. A neat trick we blood servants possess that demons hate is the ability to fight them, I stood straight and stretched out my right hand, a sudden wind was in my hair and I stood like an awesome warrior about to give a whooping, and I was. But the Wolves edged closer, they weren't afraid so I didn't wait for them to come before I started.
"More than a conqueror I am..." I chanted. It was the ancient words of power passed down to the new generation of blood servants. "against the demons of ancient wars. Charge to battle with thy arm, awaken my spirit, Awaken your Sword!!" immediately, as always, my right hand began to glow bright gold which grew straight out of my arm and materialized into a double edged sword. There is one bit of information you need to know about us blood servants, and that's the fact that we are no longer human but spirit, and the weapons we use for warfare against demons are not mundane but spirit weapons that are mighty to the pulling down of strong foes.
"Come!!!" I ordered, the wolves seemed nervous at first, but the one in the centre who was clearly the alpha began to walk, then jug, then it charged and they followed. I held my ground, knowing this was going to get ugly, but I'd been there before.
A few minutes later and Mr Bonesman was still on his bike, he was halfway home panicking and driving crazy through the empty street, then he turned down a lonely alley, which was a big mistake. In front of him was the alpha, he turned back and saw there was another behind. They had managed to get past me as I was distracted in battle by three of them, the alpha wolf was smart, it never intended to fight me, it just wanted its target.
"please...please." said the pitiful voice of the though Biker. But the first rule of darkness is no mercy, and if they ever showed one mercy it wasn't, they are just going to inflict much damage later. He was turning back and forth, confused and afraid at the sight of them. the leader then gives a howl and the other behind began to move forward, this was it for Mr Bonesman. He turned towards the alpha and stared at it in tears, for a moment he saw into its very soul as he gazed at its strange blue eyes, there was nothing but complete hatred for him, it couldn't wait to take his life. The wolf behind was already running towards him, it dived at him when it came close for a kill, but just inches away from biting at Mr Bonesman's neck something tore through its head, that was my blade. I stood at the far end of the alley where the other wolf had charged from, I had thrown my blade just in time to save Mr Boneman's life, he was drained from fear as he turned to see what had happened. The alpha clearly didn't like the outcome, it howled again and I knew he was summoning the others but I had taken care of them all. It stopped and gave me one last look, the kind that said, this isn't over, but it was. A dark mist materialized behind it and it turned and walked into it and disappeared, they were both gone.
A few minutes later I was seating with a shaken Mr Boneman at one corner the alley.
"so those were..." he said, we were seated by the backdoor of some restaurant there, though they had closed for the night already.
"demon wolves, they were sent by the one you made a deal with." I explained.
"I didn't mean to." He explained.
"yes, yes you did." I responded.
"well I didn't actually think it would work." He said. I placed my hands in my pockets at this.
"a woman appears to you in your dreams three nights in a role, calls herself the queen of the west coast, offers you a deal, and you didn't think it would work?" I asked.
"her offer and presence kind of...drew me." He said. I knew what he meant, we called blood servants called it "the seduction." It was an ability most demons had, the power to lure men into their scheme. Mr Boneman here had made a deal with the spirit of the west coast, a devil that drew its power from the sea, what some would call a mermaid spirit. Somehow it had gotten access to give him an encounter in dreams, and he had foolishly made a deal to sacrifice three members of a rival biker gang, unfortunately or should I say fortunately one of the three was already dead, and once a deal for a soul has been made, it must be completed, so they wanted to use him as replacement, not that they needed to but just to be wicked.
"So what do I do now, to be saved?" he asked turning to me, he was desperate, if you had seen what we just saw you would be too.
"Follow me." I said getting up "I know just the place."
"Whe...where?" he asked, his voice still shaky, all his toughness was gone.
"Where people like me hang out, the Servants Club."
