Chapter 15: Warnings

1704 Words
~The Witch Hailey's P.O. V~         What Vivian did was unforgivable, she knew not to prophesize the Mythic World and yet, she did it anyway. I had to undo her prophecy to put it right, she will be punished for this. That isn't my problem yet, The Gemstone Mare is. After going from Quintessa's and Magmis' I had one more stop to look at. Junk Rat. I hoped she would be there so I could tell her why Prince Ryan wants her. Now, in the contract I worded it so he wouldn't know that I had no intention of giving him her location. All that was in there on my part was 'Find Ruby.' I made that loophole for a reason. No offence to Ruby, but I really don't want Unicorns to rule over us. No one Mythic should rule over the others, however there is a group of beings that govern us. Each composing of each Mythic. Unfortunately for Miss. Ruby, Prince Ryan is among that social group. Why would he want to rule over us? I haven't the foggiest. Before I could get to Junk Rat Tavern, however, I was stopped by Pricilla. "Sister. Why did you deceive him?" "Because, I don't want just one Mythic ruling. We have a Governed Council for a reason. Oriana is among them, so is he. I want to find out why he wants her so badly." "I feel the same way, sister. I just can't break a contract or a prophecy." She gave an exasperated sigh, "How do you plan on breaking it?" "Why should I tell you?" "You need help. And out of the 5 of us? Your are my blood sister." She took my hand in hers. "Let me help you. I don't want to see the Governed Council destroyed either." I thought about it for a minute, "If you insist, sister. We have to be discreet. If Oriana, Trisha or even Vivian catch us, we might as well forfeit our lives. It's less painful than what will be done." She nodded and we began our journey to Junk Rat. A place that is constantly moving from cavern to cavern. Finding it will take longer then a month. ~Ruby's P.O. V~         Hamish led us down a long stairway to Jinx's dungeon, horses in general have long endurance meters and their stamina is better than that of a wolfs. In other words, I was doing better with the stairs then Chess. Hamish kept walking as he kept panting. It made me laugh a little, the laughter died when a putrid smell hit my nose.  "Who enters my lair?" A deep and hoarse voice called out. "It's just me, ya bastard." Hamish said. "And 2 others. They smell like animals." It replied. "Oh, don't ya worry 'bout them. This is The Gemstone Mare and 'er mate, Beta Chester." "She finally arrived." The wall ahead began to move, a few seconds later a dragon head popped out. "Ruby, The Gemstone Mare. I have been waiting for you." "Oi?! Since when, ya big bastard?" Hamish yelled. "A long time, you half man half beard asshole!" It roared. "You must be Jinx." I was a little afraid of him. "That I am." It shifted into a gray skinned man with part of it's head peeled open. The blood was oozing from it like a blood bag. "Come. You are needed, Unicorn's Mate." He turned around and began walking away. "Unicorn, you stay." Wait what?!  "Hell, no! I go with!" His hand flung over his shoulder as a rock was thrown. "Stay! This does not need you intervening." Chess looked at me and I tried to plead with him. He shook his head and then kissed me on the lips. He let it linger before letting go. I watched my mate head in there, hoping he wouldn't die. "Come, lass. They need privacy." Hamish wrapped his arm around my waist and led me back up. "There is someone here wanting to talk to you. She just arrived." He led me to a grand room with a throne at the end. And there stood the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I wouldn't turn to the other side for her, but she made me look plain. "Hello, my dear Ruby." Her voice was so melodic and harmonious. "H-Hi?" I had no idea who she was. Long blond hair, Opal eyes, tan skin, like Esmerelda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame tan and taller than 8 feet. "I am The Moon Goddess. The one who paired you with Chester." Oh, my God. She's f*****g real?! I thought she was just a myth. I bowed to her, "Thank you for the blessing, Moon Goddess." She chortled, "My sweet, Ruby. You have no need to bow to me. I have come in hopes to get to know you. I paired you, yes, but I do not understand Unicorns. Come, sit with me?" She made another chair pop up out of thin air. When a Goddess asks you to sit, you sit. I took a seat in the chair next to her. "What would you like to know?"  "Everything. From your childhood to before you came to Junk Rat." I had to think about it, no one ever likes to talk about their parents death or why they were outcast from their family group. "It's... It's hard for me to talk about." I wrapped my arms around me for comfort. It made me feel better, holding myself. "Then, let me see into your mind." I hesitated for a few minutes, in the end I nodded and let her in. -5 year old Ruby- "Mommy! Daddy! I-I caught a rabbit." She giggled. Holding a brown rabbit in her arms as she ran to her family. "And what a huge bunny it is. But, you what? I bet the bunny would be happier free." Her mother said. Ruby remembered her mother so vividly. Except for her hair, Ruby looked like her mother. The crystal blue eyes, the percaline skin and the height.  "Awe... Okay..." Ruby said. "Tell you what, sweetie. You let the bunny go and we'll go get a big scoop of ice cream." Her father leaned down and held out his hands. "Really?" They nodded to their daughter. "Yay!" She ran back to the forest and let the bunny loose. Her father looked nothing like her. He was tan skinned, black haired and had brown eyes. The Moon Goddess had to switch who she was viewing through. In her mothers eyes now, "Honey? What will happen to her?" "I don't know, Em. Clarissa needs to be taken out first. If that prophecy I found is true, Ruby will be in danger." "So, there is a prophecy?" Emily asked. "Yes. We need to keep Ruby off the Royal Family's radar. I fear they will treat her like a breeder." Emily gasped. "We need to tell Max. He can hide her." "No, Max and his new Luna are dealing with their own troubles. Clarissa is who I worry about most, though. She's working with Count Vladimir." Her father said. "I knew it. But why?" "I don't know yet." A small voice came from the other side of the meadow, "Hey freak." It was a little boy. "My mom says you're a demon." He pushed Ruby to the ground. "Ow!" She began to cry. "Hey! Wayne! Get away from my daughter, you little s**t!" Her father went after the little boy. He immediately shifted into this tall buckskin stallion and ran towards the little boy, the little boy screamed in terror as he ran away from him. "Are you okay, Ruru?" Her mother helped her up. "Yes, mommy." She sniffled back tears.  -Time skipping to Ruby being 10 Years old- "Mom! Dad!" Ruby cried out. "Shut up, Devil!" The little boy from earlier a little more grown said. He punched her in the head as he held her down. "Emily of the Yellow Mountain Herd. I Clarissa, Alpha Mare, here by sentence you to death! Along with your mate, Lawrence!" She said to the whole herd. Two of the elite have them pinned down while 2 more had a hold of their heads. "Go ahead! It will only prove that you are a traitor to the Mythic world!" Lawrence yelled. "Shut it! I will not be disrespected in my own home! Tear their heads!" Clarissa screamed. In one swift motion that came with the most excruciating screams, their heads were torn off. Blood spilled everywhere, the skin looked like old cloth while the muscles continued to twitch from their beheading. Ruby screamed as she cried, Wayne continued to hold her down as he laughed at her. When all was said and done, The Moon Goddess began to cry herself as she continued on through this memory. She saw Ruby burn their corpses alone, cheeks tear stained. That night, Ruby cried so much that she fell asleep on the ground. The next morning came, Ruby got up, wiped her tears away and ran from the herd. The Moon Goddess switched over to that Wayne's mind. "You think she's still there?" "Probably. But who cares? She's a devil." His friend said.  'I know that, but she's still alone. I laughed at her last night when holding her down. I hurt her on purpose so she could leave this place. Ruby, I know you and I will never meet again, I have this to say if I could, I drove you out to protect you. May you live happily outside of the herd.' "Dude, you okay?"  "Huh?" He shook the thoughts, "Oh, yeah. Just tired. Mom has been drilling me to become the next Alpha Stallion next to Kayla." "That's rough. Kayla isn't even that good looking. I heard she hasn't shifted yet, and she's 13." The Moon Goddess was tired of this conversation and moved on to her other memories. She lived on the streets until she turned 16, got a job at Burger King, saved money for an apartment, went to college in the Justice department and then became a lawyer. And very good one too. That's when The Moon Goddess cut off her connection to Ruby's mind.
