The doctor left and so did Chase’s father. Soon afterward, the nurse came back in and I stepped out of the room, so they could remove the catheter and I.V. from Chase. When I returned, and the nurse left us alone, he gave me a funny look.
“What?”
“The catheter. That was a f*****g weird experience. I hope I never have to go through it again.”
“Is your pee-pee sore?” I teased.
“A little.” He wiggled his eyebrows. “Maybe you could massage it and make it feel better?”
I snorted. “You are doing much better, aren’t you?”
“I feel good enough to leave. I don’t want to stay here anymore. This bed sucks and I know I’d do just fine at home.”
