KARA DROVE ME BACK to the hospital just as my old man called to chew my a*s.
“Where in the hell have you been?” he snapped.
I sighed. “It’s a long story.”
“Do you know how dangerous it was to leave the hospital after just waking up from a coma?”
“Look, I get it. I’m back now, though. I’ll be up in my room in a second. When you hear what happened, you’ll understand.”
“We’ll see.”
Mackenzie accompanied me back, where my father was indeed waiting with a scowl and lecture. Before he could begin with the nagging, we told him what had happened. Shocked, he pressured us to call the police.
“He’s just going to deny everything. Plus, she got him good in the face with her nails. He might press charges against Mackenzie for assault,” I said.
Dad sighed. “Good point.”
