Zara wasn’t sure what she had expected when Lucy finished curling the last section of her hair and spun her chair around to face the mirror. Maybe she had anticipated a slight transformation, a subtle change… something noticeable but it definitely wasn’t this. This? This was beyond anything she had imagined, this was drastic. Her breath hitched. Her eyes widened, taking in the reflection staring back at her. The girl in the mirror looked… no, felt… different. Not just because of the hair… even though, oh God, the hair… but because for the first time in a long time, she was looking at herself and actually appreciating what she saw.
