Yin lost his wife during the delivery of their son, and ever since, he had been living in confusion and grief. At his wife’s burial, he couldn’t even bring himself to hold his baby his hands trembled with fear that he might drop him. Their parents stepped in to help, caring for the newborn while Yin struggled silently, crying at night and questioning why his wife had to leave him. He often wondered: If she had never gotten pregnant, would she still be alive? Thoughts like this never left his mind.

One morning, his mother woke him up.

“Baby Jesse needs a few things,” she said, handing him a list. “Please go to the supermarket. And Yin… you can’t keep locking yourself inside. Get some fresh air.”

Six months passed. Yin and Jesse slowly began adjusting, and the grandparents decided it was time for Yin to start taking care of Jesse on his own so they could bond. Yin was worried he didn’t know if he could cope without their constant support. But they assured him they would visit frequently.

Yin was a lawyer, and he and his late wife had built a small entertainment & media law firm called Yin & Bella, an idea Bella had passionately pushed for. After seven months of mourning, Yin finally decided to resume work.

But when he reached the office, he was shocked. Their office space had been sold, and the new landlord was already clearing out the place. Yin panicked, begging the new landlord for just two weeks to move out. The landlord reluctantly agreed.

As if that wasn’t enough, Yin found out that his staff hadn’t been paid for five months. Eight employees had already resigned. Furious and confused, he went straight to the accountant’s office only to find it closed. No one had seen the accountant since Bella’s burial seven months ago.

Yin rushed to the bank to understand what was happening. There, he learned that the company’s account had been emptied almost everything withdrawn on the exact day his wife was rushed into the delivery room.

Lost and panicking, Yin immediately called his closest friend, Ken, a lawyer who specialized in fraud cases. Ken answered at once and rushed to the bank to meet him. After hearing everything, Ken took Yin’s car keys and drove him home, asking his driver to bring his own car.

When they arrived, Jesse’s nanny opened the door. She told them Jesse was sleeping. Ken’s phone rang it was his husband, Meling, but Ken told him he would call back later because he needed to focus on Yin.

When Ken returned to the living room, he found the nanny had left and Yin was holding Jesse, who was crying. They soothed the baby together until he finally fell asleep. Yin managed a small smile for the first time that day.

Then Ken explained everything he had discovered about the accountant. Yin sat in silence, absorbing the shock. Ken offered him money to keep things stable, but Yin refused, insisting he would manage.

Ken laughed. “He told me to stay with you and Jesse. You need someone around.”

Yin smiled weakly. “Really? Or maybe he just wants one night of peaceful sleep?”

They both laughed, and Ken finally headed home.
