There was a sickening sound in the air. It was dull and sharp, the sound of metal striking bone. There was a ringing in Liam’s ears, so long and so high pitched, it was all he could hear for several stunned minutes. Something tickled from his forehead. He touched it and saw it was blood. Blood? He stared at the tip of his fingers, astonished. Had Fatso really hit him that hard?  He turned his head slowly to the side like a snail. Fatso was watching him, the gun still held out.
