Chapter 2: the ambush

374 Words
Suna's eyes narrowed as a group of shadowy figures emerged from the darkness, their faces obscured by hoods. Aria's eyes flashed with a hint of fear, but she stood her ground, her fangs bared. "Who are you?" Suna growled, his claws extended. The figures didn't respond, their silence more menacing than any threat. Aria's eyes locked onto Suna's, and he knew she was thinking the same thing: this was an ambush. Without warning, the figures charged, their movements swift and deadly. Suna and Aria fought side by side, their movements synchronized as they took down their attackers. But there were too many, and soon they found themselves surrounded. Just as all seemed lost, a dark figure appeared, dispatching the attackers with ease. Suna and Aria stood panting, their eyes fixed on their rescuer. "Thanks for the assist," Suna said, his hackles still raised. The figure pushed back its hood, revealing piercing eyes and jet-black hair. "No need to thank me, Suna. I'm just repaying a debt." Suna's eyes narrowed. "Who are you?" The figure smiled, a mischievous glint in their eye. "My name is Kerl. And I'm a warlock." Kerl's eyes gleamed with a knowing intensity as he gazed at Suna and Aria. "I've been watching you two. You're quite the formidable team." Suna's instincts remained on high alert, but Aria seemed intrigued. "What do you want, Kerl?" Kerl's smile widened. "Oh, I think we can help each other. You see, I'm searching for a powerful artifact, hidden deep within the supernatural realm. And I believe you two are the perfect companions for this quest." Suna snorted. "Why would we help you?" Kerl's eyes glinted with amusement. "Well, for starters, this artifact could grant you both immense power. And secondly...let's just say I have information about your past, Suna. Information that could change everything." Suna's ears perked up, his heart racing. What could Kerl possibly know about his past? Aria's eyes narrowed. "What kind of information?" Kerl chuckled. "Ah, that's for me to know and you to find out. But trust me, Suna, you want to hear this." Suna hesitated, his mind racing with possibilities. Aria's eyes met his, and he knew she was thinking the same thing: this could be a dangerous game.
