Bye

Lyra's POV: I did not want to leave. Not because my pack was any better than where I might go or because I found solace in this pack, but because of the fact that I would be married to a man I did not know, one that looked like he hated me and was getting married to me out of spite rather than love. I had walked out of the throne room with wobbly feet, my legs unable to stand on their own as I tried to ignore the dull throbbing that was coming from my head. I turned the corner and the taunt back of the man that was supposed to be my savior came into view. Today was also his last day at this pack because he had concluded every meeting he had with my father. His head whipped towards my direction the very instant I turned the corner and I knew that he had smelt me. His eyes seemed to border on what was pity and also...something that looked like love. But I knew I was hallucinating. If he loved me, he would not have rejected me in front of the crowd, he would not have made me be sold off like a cheap kitchen item. " Why are you walking like that?" He had called from the other side of the hallway and I almost snorted. " Like you care" I said, proceeding to head my own way. In an instant, he was in front of me, his eyes burning with anger and a foreign emotion that I could not quite place. " Never talk to me like that. Ever" he said, a low growl escaping from him, his alpha power radiating off of him. My omega wolf bowed, baring her neck to him in submission, but I resisted the urge to cower before him. " And if I did, what would you do about it? Reject me from being your mate?" I asked, taunting him. Hurt flashed in his eyes as he looked at me, as though searching mine for some truth in the emotions I was now displaying for him. He slammed his hands on the wall next to me, pressing his body into me until his body was flush next to mine. " You won't refer to me like that, do you hear me?" He asked. I snorted. " You won't tell me what to do, not now, not ever. I thought we had something together, but you trashed it. And now, all thanks to you, I am getting sold off to a man older than my father. So if you will excuse me, I have to go pack as he leaves in an hour" I said, my voice choking with tears as I tried to will them back. His eyes filled with confusion and surprise as he looked at me. " Wait what?" He asked, but before I could repeat myself , a sickly voice sounded from the end of the hallway. " Lucian! What are you doing with that slave? Is she bothering you?" Bethany said, her voice and facial expression suggesting disgust as she looked at me. He quickly pulled away from him and, despite myself, I felt myself craving his warmth back, wanting to feel his body pressed on mine again, wishing we were both shirtless, so I could feel his heated body on mine. " We were just talking," he said. Bethany flashed me a glare as she put her hands around his neck, pulling him in for a kiss right in front of me and I felt my stomach sink as he reciprocated. Of course, what was I expecting? Her mother had told me after all that they were going to be together. She flashed me a satisfied glance as she hooked her hands around his waist. " I'm so sorry you had to see that. I know he is your mate and all, but don't worry, I'm sure you would enjoy your own married life with that old man" she said, the snicker leaving her tongue. I swallowed, wallowing in my own sea of shame as I walked off, listening to her make duck faces and noises at him until I was finally in my room, away from the noises and away from the pain that I felt. I roughly packed my little belongings into a torn up bag, the pair of shoes and the only presentable gown I had sliding down the length of my legs as I sniffled. I have no fun memories living in this house, no one to turn to or to cry to. But what I did know, was the fact that wherever I was going, I would try my best to make it the home I never had. No matter how hard that is. His car was already pulled up next to him as he waited for me impatiently, tapping his feet rapidly on the ground as he looked around, trying to ignore my father's reckless attempt to keep him company till I showed up. When I finally came in their line of view, my father snarled at me, his eyes holding the hate I now knew his heart felt. " What took you so long! You know how to do nothing right, all you do is make everyone around you angry. I'm so glad you are leaving the pack now, it's goodbye to good riddance" he said, each word hitting me like a jagged sword. I plastered a small smile on my face to the surprise of both him and my stepmother. Then I bowed slightly to both of them. " Thank you so much for raising me all these years. Your efforts did not go unnoticed" I said. My stepmother huffed, looking at me with a look of disdain. " At least she has manners enough to pay her respects." She said, " We have to get going now, I have so many things to do" came the gruff voice of my new husband, making me halt my greeting and hop into the car. As I watched the bushes and shrubs fade away, the pack house growing further until it finally became a speck in the vast sea of green, I knew there was no going back. I was on my way to creating my own family now.
