Chapter Five
A Taste of Hell
Elena
Loud footsteps coming towards me echoed loudly in my ears before I could roll off my tiny bed—a splash of cold water cascaded from my face down to my body in large quantity.
I shrieked and rolled off the bed, my body trembling as I gnashed my teeth tightly.
"Is that time of the month again?" The Luna sneered as she drew level with me. My jaw dropped, and cold chills ran all through my skin, goosebumps shooting up. Once a month I was dragged along the pack and whipped with a mixture of wolfsbane and silver potion, after which I was dragged back to the palace where my torture continued.
"Why are you still curled on the ground? Get the f**k up, you stupid warlock". Lydia burst out in rage and wouldn't even wait for a response from me before charging at me like a lunatic. She landed a blinding slap across my cheek, snapping my face to the side.
I screeched in pain, trying not to cry. I hated crying in front of her, but the pain burned my cheeks, forcing tears down my eyes as I sobbed bitterly.
"Why don't you just kill yourself, you stupid warlock?" She growled furiously, while I whimpered, clutching my burning cheeks.
"I'm... I'm... not a warlock." I shuddered, and Lydia laughed, a harsh sound that echoed in my ears.
"Aren't you so oblivious, Elena?" She laughed harder, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "Of course you're a warlock, the exact reason you transformed into your warlock beast on your sixteenth birthday.".
I shook my head, backing away from her. I didn't want to believe any of what she was saying, but something about the way her lips curled into a sneer, told me she wasn't lying.
In an instant, Lydia grabbed me harshly by my hair, and the cruel smile on her face faded, replaced by something darker, more menacing. And just then, I scent the pungent demon scent emanating from her; Lydia was a demon.
My blood ran cold as my eyes grew double the size; before I could even muster the courage to challenge her, she yanked me harshly by my hair, pulling me out of my room, or perhaps my dungeon. The space was really small and cramped. Barely large enough to fit a bed and an additional item.
Lydia released her hold on me once we reached the living room, and I fell weakly to my knees.
"Gree... Greetings, Alpha." I stuttered, and he sneered.
"Keep your demonic greetings to yourself, you disgusting pig." He growled; if only he knew who the real demon was.
"Greetings, Father." Blake mumbled, stepping closer to his father. His hands were interwined with Celine's, and tears welled in my eyes as I watched the man who was supposed to be mine press his lips to another.
In an instant. Four guards strode hastily towards me and grabbed me harshly by my arms, dragging me out of the royal pack house and down to the village square where my torture will begin. All the pack members were already gathered, ready to watch me tortured and humiliated. Their eyes all fixed on me, a silent condemnation in their gaze.
The guards tied my body securely to a tree, and I gasped as tears welled in my eyes, threatening to fall. Without wasting a second, Lydia injected the wolfsbane and silver potion into the whips; a mocking smile curled on her lips.
"Father, will you grant me the honor of whipping her myself? That is the least I could do after she killed my beloved mother". Blake mumbled, staring dead into my eyes, and my blood ran cold as my body trembled.
And boom, the first whip hit.
I screamed and groaned as I felt blinding pain shoot through my body. And before I could recover, another hit came, then another, until I lost count. Blood gushed out from my nose, and tears blurred my vision. The mocking laugh of the pack members around me echoed loudly in my ears. Their voices sharp and cruel like they were enjoying the show.
A raindrop landed on my forehead, heavy like a rock. My heart dropped to my chest as another one landed on my exposed hand. My eyes immediately grew double the size. It was about to rain, and due to my ombrophobia—fear of the rain—my body always reacted like it was about to be knocked out each time it rained.
Soon it started raining, and I sucked in a sharp breath as the heavy raindrops hit my body, knocking all the air out of my lungs. My vision blurred, and I began gasping for air. Soon my bones grew weak as the attacking droplets feasted on my entire body, consuming it.
The rain began to pour so hard I couldn't breathe.
It was in times like this that I wished I had my wolf. Well, actually I had my wolf, but we weren't in sync. I had bolted and locked her in a deep cage after my sixteenth birthday because of the fear that she might take control and start killing mercilessly, like she did with the Luna and my parents, but at least now I know better; it wasn't my wolf, but my warlock beast who never showed up after that horrible night.
The whip connected against my back again, but it was nothing compared to the turmoil of the rain. Soon everything turned into shadows, and the rain masked the mocking laugh of the pack members.
Blood pounded in my ears, and my eyes started to shut. Tired, I let the rain fall on me as it pleased. I just wanted to escape all the pain, take a long nap, and drift off to dreamland.
"Release her immediately. She can't die yet. She can only die after she has suffered endlessly and regretted what she did". The Alpha rasped voice was the last sound I heard before I was welcomed into the darkness. Anything to stop the rain, I was sure, would rip me apart and leave nothing behind but broken shattered pieces.
