Had it been ,what? Three and a half months that they started dating. It was a dream and not what her dad had made her terrified about.
They had met at the hangout, she did her best to mingle and not too long after her father's announcement, he walked Zach over to where she stood, talking to some business associates who wanted to get acquainted with the new boss, that her eyes came in contact with his. You could call it, a fall towards love because at that point, everything and everyone ebbed away, out of existence, leaving only them in the room with faded chatters acting out as pure music to her ears.
Zach was a topping on an ice cream, the first sweet thing you get excited about. He had Auburn hair, short enough to create beach waves on his head, a tall frame with slightly curved shoulders to support his lightly muscular build. He was just ok for his build, not that it matters anyway, she was more smitten by his gray eyes, the way it was so easy to hold her gaze and took control of her core, with a sway of his muscular build and Cheerful smile, her dad didn't need to chaperone any more because his charming persona kicked in, sweeping her off her feet.
She would later in a week's time knew how charismatic he was, how relentless, how concerned and hopeful he was in her.
He saw her in a way that no man had ever seen her, he saw a leader in her and that made her smile even more because why not. It didn't take him long before he took her to Maldives and asked her to be his, after a night long swimming and having fun exploring.
She knew it was part of her dad's plan to make sure she married him but right now, his plan didn't go to the extent of making sure that they fell in love because that's where she was. Heavily in love with Zach Ralstone and there was no turning back on it.
The cab came to a stop in front of the majestic loft, she gracefully stepped down from the cab, tipping the driver nearly fifty percent of her fare. It didn't matter though, her heart was filled to the brim. She could only imagine what his expression would be like when she gave him this gift. He was big on surprises and she was even bigger on gifting. She made to open the door to the ground floor of the loft but it was locked. The loft had two access, the first was manual, like any other normal apartment. This area was reserved for guests and occasions, it was a vast empty space with beautiful lights and all too real virtual paintings that changed every two minutes.
Of course, her excitement clouded her sight. There's no way he would be home, that's why she came unexpectedly. It was a surprise, she had called everyone she knew were his friends, even his brother, the day before to tell them about the party she would throw for him the evening of his birthday and they were all excited and willing to come, including his brother but before that, she was going to give him hers first.
She dug through her lavender purse and got her spare key. They had exchanged keys at the beginning of their relationship to show that they trusted each other completely. Not that she needed it, she had never been a jealous person and plus she was in love, she trusted him completely. He could do no wrong.
She let herself in, walked a good one to the elevator and dinged it, getting into the elevator that took her to the top, as his apartment was a bit too complex but that was how billionaires thought. It was classy and complicated or nothing else.
When the elevator dinged open, she stepped out of it, letting her legs out of her shoes. She let the warmness of the floor seep through her skin. She had never loved his house more than right now. The house was infused with a heater, it got cold in hot weathers and it got warm in cold weathers. The loft was blessed with a view of the beach, it was a bit Faraway but it was really beautiful at night. She would know this from the frequent visits and sleepovers. She quietly dropped the bag on the kitchen island and took a seat, massaging her feet. They weren't killer heels for nothing.
As she let her fingers massage each crevice, she heard a sound. Faint at first but it was there.
Normally in horror movies, this was the part where she'd scream to the character to take that Versace bag and boot her cute ass out of that loft, the moment the sound was clear and she wasn't imagining things.
She told herself that it was probably the wind, she knew it was a lie but to soothe her frowning eyes and worried heart, she believed it but the sound came back again.
Like a thud. Quick, fast but at the same time not quite. She got off the long chair, stretching her long legs as her toes touched the ground. She listened for the sound and funny enough there it was.
Zach wasn't supposed to be at home, he was supposed to be at a business meeting at Chicago, meaning there was an intruder in the house. Normally again, this was the part where she was supposed to run for her life. Sound the alarms to alert the police but when she came in, there was no red flags. There was no beeping lights or anything to signify intrusion because the loft worked clearly with footprints, hers and Zach's were registered by the house and so it was a surprise to her. The only way to not sound the alarm was if a registered person, registered the new person or persons with a temporary passcode, to always allow them into the top floor where his bedroom was located and that wasn't possible because that would mean that the person was really close to him and that person happened to either be her or her brother but it still had to be activated by a registered person.
So who let this person in.
She was puzzled but still she crept to the incoming quiet thuds she kept hearing coming from Zach's bedroom. She was puzzled as to why the intruder would be there, so she turned back to the kitchen and got a rolling pin, if she was going to see the intruder, she was going prepared. She had a black belt, it was stupid going after this intruder but she had to protect herself. It was irrational to pick up and run from something she wasn't even sure existed. For all she knew, it could be her mind playing dirty tricks on her. She, did see a horror movie late last night, this could be from her imagination.
So, she crept slowly, holding the pin in a defensive and offensive position. Making tiny steps towards his door, preparing to launch her surprise attack and go all out on this person.
As she tightened her hand on the door handle, she listened for the sound even more and was shocked to hear a female voice, lightly making short sounds like she was moaning or something.
Wait. Were they two? What the hell was going on? She furrowed her brows in anger as she listened in some more and heard some disgusting squishing sounds, like they were having s*x.
It was so unheard of, she nearly laughed. She could see it splattered on the headlines.
"TWO THIEVES, CAUGHT HAVING s*x IN BILLIONAIRE ZACH'S LOFT!" He would freak out so much, it would cause him a seizure.
That didn't deter her from still wanting to bash their heads in, so with much courage, she took in a huge breath and kicked the door, so wide, she didn't have time to think or react as the two people scrampled under the sheets with fear in their eyes.
It took her a whole four minutes to play what she just saw with her eyes in her head. She kicked the door wide open and at the same time charged into the room, holding the pin in a defensive position, ready to swing, hit, smash and kill and when she saw those familar eyes, Her heart stopped beating in her chest and her brain stopped reasoning because what she could piece together from what was before her wasn't two thieves.
God no, it so wasn't two thieves. It was scrunched up sheets, disarrayed clothes in every nook and cranny of the bedroom she had shared with the same bastard that was laying with the sheets covering his torso that she had already seen countless times, sitting besides a girl she had never met.
No it wasn't two thieves at all and frankly she knew the headlines that had flashed before her eyes weren't going to be the ones that would be there tomorrow morning in the 7am paper in reality.
It would be "SCANDAL! CATASTROPHE! BILLIONAIRE ZACH CAUGHT FOR WHAT HE REALLY IS, A CHEAT" her hands fell by her side, as the pin was tossed out of her hands and rolled on the ground to a stop at the bed, just as Zach went "Annie, I can explain"
A tear rolled down her cheeks in response.
