The elevator stood waiting. For a heartbeat, I didn't move. Leonard Parker was inside. Alone. He leaned casually against the handrail at the back of the elevator, one ankle crossed over the other. His suit jacket was gone, leaving only the crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled neatly to his forearms. The top two buttons were still undone, giving him an effortless elegance that should have been illegal. His gaze shifted toward me. Calm. Patient. As though he'd known I would be standing there. My fingers tightened around the empty coffee cup. Breathe. Jonathan's words echoed inside my head. Act normal. Leonard extended one hand toward the open space beside him. A silent invitation. There was more than enough room. Refusing to step inside would only make me look suspicious
