Chapter 1.18

Kathleen Remes’ POV After that long, lingering kiss that I gave Kai in the car, we had to wait until tonight to finish what we started. I groaned slightly as I found that car in front of our estate. I cursed at myself as I forgot I had an appointment with Antonio about my hair today. “My love?” Kai asked me as I stopped at the bottom of the stairs, not joining him on the second floor as he wanted to go to the bedroom for our privacy together. “I will be there. I have something else to take care of,” I said as I smiled sweetly at him. He arched his eyebrows. “If you may recall, I have an appointment with someone,” I said as I pointed my thumb at the car parked outside that was not ours. He looked at it before he looked at me. “Right now? Alright then,” he said as he went to stand in front of me before he dipped his mouth and kissed me. “I will be studying to look at my company then. I will see you later,” he said before he kissed me again and I sighed at his lost contact. He chuckled. “Don’t worry, my love. Tonight I will be yours,” he said before I went to slap his ass. He just laughed before gingerly going to the study room that he had conquered after moving in with me. “Well, if it is a sight in the morning for my single eye,” Antonio’s voice was booming across the hall. I turned to look at him as he was leaning on the door frame, crossing his arms. He looked so roguishly handsome, making me wonder why he’s not married yet, or perhaps has a girlfriend. “Tony, it’s good to see you,” I said as I went to kiss his cheeks in a friendly way. He smiled at me. “Well, I could say the same to you but, darling, your hair said something else,” he said as he looked at my hair. I touched my hair instantly as I thought something bad had happened to it. “What’s wrong?” I asked him as I was touching my hair. He swatted my hands away as he was inspecting my hair. His trained eyes were looking everywhere for the mistake or perhaps some reinforcement of hairstyling. “Well, if you don’t do anything to it now, Kai will go to another woman, the one with the natural hair color that you choose from,” he said to me. I glared at him. “He would never, we have been making progress,” I said as I sounded like a mouse. I was not sure if what we had was progress or something else. Tony arched his eyebrows. “If you say so, darling. Now come, we need to get this hair into perfection,” he said as he guided me through the room and worked his magic onto my hair. As he was making his magic happen to my hair, I was talking about his private life, the one that was not involved with hair. “So, do you have a girlfriend or love interest, Tony?” I asked him as I saw he was smiling at my silly question. “I think I will not answer that question,” he said as he was putting on some organic hair dye and hoping that Kai would not notice any difference from it. “Why not? We have been friends for 5 years now, oh wait, it has been longer than that,” I said as I looked at his reflection. His eyes caught mine before he sighed. “Well, a man like me would never have a woman by my side,” he finally said. I turned to look at him. I have been thinking that maybe he did not have a girlfriend for entirely a different reason now. “Are you gay?” I asked him because I knew it would be offending to someone like him. He smiled before he turned my head around again. “When I am doing this, please restrain yourself from turning around so much. Stay still,” he said as he looked at me. I sighed before I could get my answer, but he startled me by answering my question about his love life. “No, I am not gay as you claimed, but don’t ask that question of people real ones. They get mad or perhaps they will be proud to answer it as well,” he said as he was waiting for my dye to get into my hair. “So, any girls that you might have kidnapped or hidden?” I asked him. He smiled, like a smile for the first time in our friendship, well, more like a dyeing-my-hair friendship. “Well, I might do that as well,” he said before I went silent, not wanting to know if he did that or just kidding with me. After my appointment with Tony that dragged until evening, I went to take a shower in the master bedroom as I was thinking about the changes in my hair. I hoped that Kai would not notice anything like most men do. But this was my husband we’re talking about. He might have known it straight away, right? I walked out of the shower as I grabbed a towel to cover myself before I went to the mirror at the counter. I swiped the mirror that fogged because of the steam. I looked at myself, renewed. My hair was shining with its black color, like my sister's. I sighed. Why do I have to compare myself to her? Without giving any thoughts, I went out of the bathroom to see that Kai was leaning against the front door. I smiled at him. Please don’t let him see anything different, I prayed. “Did you do something to your hair?” He asked me as he walked inside the room, closing the door behind him. I turned to him as I was trying to get my lingerie. “Huh? Oh, yeah, just some hair massage and trimming at the end,” I said as I opened the drawer and tried to pull it out before the drawer was closing and I was turned around. “It did not seem like it,” he said as he was trapping me between his strong arms. I looked down on the floor, interested in the carpet pattern for some reason. “Look at me,” Kai whispered as he pointed my chin to look into his eyes. His sea-green eyes were glistening with desire, lust and perhaps something else that I didn’t want to know. I gulped as I parted my lips for a bit. He groaned before he crashed his lips against mine. I snaked my hands around his neck before we walked toward the bed, as I could feel it on my calves. “Do you have any idea what I have been waiting for you since you kissed me in the car,” he said as he was pulling at my towel to pool around my foot. He smirked as he took in my naked, slim, bombshell body in front of him. Suddenly, I felt conscious that I wanted to cover myself up. “Don’t,” he whispered as he pulled my hands and kissed me, pushing me onto the bed as he was landing on top of me, keeping his weight off from me. I groaned as I snaked my hands into his hair. He was trying to get his shirt off from his body. “My god, Kathleen. You’re the most beautiful person in the whole world,” Kai said as he kissed my neck and my jaws. I froze, as I had known that phrase before. “My Katherine, you’re the most beautiful person in the whole world,” was the same phrase that I heard in the library. I stopped my engagement with Kai. He sensed it as he pulled his head back to see me in the eyes. His eyebrows were furrowed together. “What’s wrong?” He asked me. I looked at him before I pushed him up and he was standing in front of him. I was naked but I didn’t care as something was stirring inside my heart, the only part of me that I don’t usually open to anyone. “Have you ever said anything to anyone?” I asked him quietly. “What?” He replied, confused by my question. “Have you said that to anyone?” I said a little louder this time. “What are you talking about? Of course not. I haven’t been with anyone since—" “But have you said that when you were younger?” I asked him, glaring at him as I looked at his face. His expression was unreadable. I thought so. “So, you did. Huh, I cannot believe this,” I said under my breath. “Kathleen, I—“ “Get out,” I said. “What?” “Get out, Kai. I don’t want to see you tonight,” I said as I stood up from the bed as I was looking at him. “Get. Out,” I said as I was looking into his eyes. It held fire in them that might ignite at any moment. “You’re not making sense,” he replied. “Oh? I think you know that I always have an appointment once every 3 weeks and you know what I have changed. Don’t play dumb with me,” I said as I was at my limit. “You renew your hair color,” he finally said. I laughed as I scoffed at him before turning to look at him. “See? I told you noticed and why do you think I did this, Kai?” I asked him, demanding an answer that I knew I didn’t want to hear. “To look a bit more like your sister,” he said quietly. “Yes, like my f*****g sister. And why should I lower myself to her level? Oh, I don’t know, perhaps because my husband was in love with her?!” I shouted as I was breathing heavily. I wanted to slap myself as I saw Kai’s face was enraged, no scratch that, consumed with anger. I have pushed his limits with me.
