Chapter 3.22

1609 Words
Kiara Hoffman’s POV After that little discussion that we had in the lab, I saw Charles was not himself. He had distanced himself from everyone else as we agreed to meet at the building where Fenn Remes would meet with his investors. I hope we still have time to put a stop to it. “Charles?” I asked him as he was looking out the window of the cafe that we were sitting in. I put on my disguise as I colored my hair black and I wore brown contacts. Charles had changed his hair as well to make it browner than his black silken hair. He also wore black contacts. “I don’t think this will be easy,” he mumbled as he took my hand and kissed it. My heart bloomed at the gesture, as if he was afraid of me. Afraid to lose myself again. “Hey, look at me,” I said as I was caressing his cheek. He turned to look at me. His brunette hair and black eyes. Well, this was not the same Charles Debrun that I used to know. “I just wanted to say thank you for not being a vengeful person. If you have, I don’t think that we experience what we have now,” I said as I was caressing his cheek. He took my wrist before he kissed the inside of my wrist. “And thank you for trusting me, Kiara,” he said as he was looking around the cafe. Chris and Sophia also put on their disguises. Chris chose black semi-permanent for his hair and Sophia was a fiery red-haired person right now. They were in the distance that we could easily be caught Fenn Remes during those transactions. “You have something to say. What is it?” I asked as Charles was squeezing my hand. I know he had something in the way that he looked at our intertwined hands. “Charles, what is it?” I asked before his black eyes were settling on my face. “I know it was not the time and place, but if we don’t go through this—“ “Don’t say that,” I said. “—I want you to know my true feelings for you, Kiara Hoffman,” Charles said as he pulled out a red box. I gasped as he put it on the table as I looked at him. My tears were on the brim of my eyes. “You can’t mean it could.” “I know I don’t deserve you, Kiara, but my heart, mind, and soul would never be completed without you. And with that, I wanted you to know that you will always be the one in my heart,” he said as he pulled up the cover of the red box. I gasped as I looked at the sapphire princess' cut that was encircled by small diamonds. I was lost for words as he took it off from the box and he showed it to me. He sighed as his eyes were on me again. “Marry me, Kiara Hoffman, and be my future, forever,” he said as he was holding it in his fingers. I was lost for words and I didn’t think that I would form any sentence, so I just nodded at him. He sighed in relief. “I don’t think I would deserve you to be my wife.” “Oh you silly, I claimed you the first time we met, Charles,” I said as I was holding my left hand for him to slide the ring into place. I whimpered as I pulled him by his face and kissed the s**t out of him. “I love you,” I said as I put my forehead on his. “And I love you, my love,” he said as my heart bloomed. It has been forever that I have yearned to listen to those 3 words. I smiled as Charles cleared his throat before he straightened us as Fenn Remes was entering the cafe. “It’s time,” he said as his jaws clenched. Chris Virtanen’s POV “Did you see what they just did? Charles proposed and Kiara said yes,” Sophia said as she was smiling from ear to ear. I was looking at her enigmatic face as she was looking at the odd couple who was not far away from us. “So, what about it?” I asked as I was looking at her. She rolled her eyes at me as I smirked at her reaction. “I think it was romantic for them to be proposed before the battle,” she sighed as she was popping her hands under the chin and looked at them. If I didn’t know any better, I would say that Sophia was still harboring feelings for Charles Debrun. Blast him! I cleared my throat as I was sweeping my eyes all over the cafe. It has been set up with Interpol and an international agency to catch my uncle in this transaction. It will put him away for a very long time. I sighed because I haven’t got enough sleep lately. All because I was thinking about what I could have done differently. “Hey, what’s wrong?” Sophia said as she took my hand and kissed my knuckles. Her blue eyes were shining with her fiery red hair right now. I think it suited her. “Nothing,” “Your nothing means anything, Virtanen. Should I recall that night, hmm?” She said as she was looking at me with a pointed look. Damn her for having this control on me. I sighed, didn’t want to dwell on that night. The night after, I attacked the Princess of Finland. How stupid I was! “If anything, I think we need some vacation after this all settles down,” Sophia said as she was sipping on her wine. I turned to look at her sharply as I arched my eyebrows. “What do you mean?” I asked her. She turned to look at me with those alluring blue eyes that had mischief in them. “You’ll see,” she said before my uncle was, insight. “We have the target in position, I repeat, target in position,” Sophia said as she was still playing with my disguise. She was playing with my hair like we were a romantic couple. “What are you doing?” I asked her as she was smirking at me. “Playing the devoted fiancée role, why do you ask, love?” She said as I was rolling my eyes at her. “You know that was to throw someone off right,” I said as she retreated her hand. Okay, maybe I wanted her to play with my hair after all. “Focus, Virtanen, the target is in sight,” she said as she turned to look at my uncle. I was clearing my throat before I was looking at the target again. I need to catch him in action so that we can use it against him. “I thought you were jealous when Charles drove his hardness inside me, but I guess you were just jesting with me,” she mumbled, but I heard it loud and clear. I was trying to control my anger before I saw my uncle was meeting with his bidders. They were talking as they were seated in the private booth. I cannot see much but I heard that Sophia asked the agents to close in. We need to catch them red-handed. I saw the person, the server, putting the wine bucket and put it out for them. We were crossing our fingers as they exchanged briefcases. “Got them,” Sophia said as she nodded to the agent before they went in and caught them. My uncle was unaware that they were being handcuffed because I was going to meet him for the last time. “Chris, my boy. Why don’t you explain to these nice gentle people that I have nothing against the monarch as they claimed?” He said as he was smiling cheekily, thinking that I would help him once more. Not anymore. I will not fall into that trap. “Goodbye, uncle. I see you in court then. Take him away,” I said as he was shouting some indecent words at me in Finnish. I was the only one that understood it, so I just shook my head. “Well, that was easy,” Kiara said as she and Charles met up. I took a look around the booth as they were talking with Sophia. Then, I know why it was easy. It’s a trap. “Everyone, clear out!” I shouted before I heard some beeping and dragged Sophia out. I don’t know what happened, but my instinct asked me to take Sophia away from them. Then the booming happened again. Charles Debrun’s POV “Everyone, clear out!” Chris shouted as he went out with Sophia. I don’t know what was going on but I reached out for Kiara as the beeping was close. My heart was beeping loudly as the bomb was closing in. 3…2…1…Boom! I don’t know if we survived the bombing. I reached out for her hands as Kiara’s face was in a panic. We touched our hands and the boom was loud enough that we burned. And I think it is the last time that I will be feeling Kiara’s touch after all. At least I did propose to her.
