Christina Dobulski’s POV
“Where have you been?” Tony asked as he was arching his eyebrows at me. I was smiling sheepishly at him as I was biting my lips.
“Well?”
“It was my 15-minute break and I think I was allowed to have it,” I said as I was staring at Tony. He stared at me before he sighed.
“I thought you had died or in an accident or something,” he mumbled.
“Well, I can take care of myself, thank you very much,” I snapped at him before he shot his hands up.
“Okay, my bad. Sorry. I was looking for you and when you were not at your booth, I was getting a bit worried, that’s all,” he said as he was shaking his head, chuckling as well. My heart swelled at his gesture.
He cared about my whereabouts. That’s sweet.
I cleared my throat as my heart bloomed at his caring attitude toward me. I was making my way to the booth to get the list of the guests’ names as I wanted to see if there was any miscalculation or anything, not that I was being distracted by Tony here at my booth.
“So, I was thinking,” he said as he was leaning on the table. I looked up to see that his face was closer to mine and I think I drew a sharp breath from that gesture alone. I wonder what would happen if I was actually under him.
Shut up, Christina! You cannot think about that. That was against the rule between employer and employee.
“Yes?” I asked him as I was still staring at his eyebrows. I don’t want to see his warm eyes right now because I might die from my heart beating too fast.
“I was wondering if you wanted to go on a picnic together tomorrow? Maybe just two of us?” He asked as he was looking at me. I gulped.
“Um, why?”
“Well, you have done well for the first time since you started working for me. Maybe I was being too generous to let you have some fun while we were near the beach,” he said as he was running his fingers through his hair. It was enticing that I wanted to run it myself.
“Hmm, will Nina and the others be there?”
“Did you just not hear that I told you it would only be the two of us?”
“Oh,” I said, as I was getting nervous and would just think that I would be spending some time with him alone at the beach.
How can it be a platonic relationship?
“Well, I understand if you don’t want to—“
“I would love to,” I said before Tony changed his mind. He turned to look at me as if I had two horns on my head.
“You would? I mean, not that I have an ulterior motive or anything—“
“I never said you are,” I replied as I was chuckling at his flustering face. He stammered before he cleared his throat.
“Well, it settled then,” he said as he went back inside the party. I was smiling from ear to ear as Nina was jumping at me from behind. I shrieked. Immediately, Tony came out to see what the commotion was.
“What? What happened? Christina, are you alright?” He asked as he was looking at me, holding my hand over my heart with a smirking Nina.
“It’s nothing. Nina just jumped on me, that’s all,” I said as I was smiling at Tony. He looked murderously at Nina before he went inside again. This time, he stomped on his feet.
“Well, someone made him mad,” Nina snickered at me before I turned to glare at her.
“Don’t do that. I think I might have died from a heart attack,” I said as I was holding my heart. Nina laughed before she was shaking her head.
“Well, we don’t want that now, do we?” She said as she was wiggling her eyebrows at me. I arched my eyebrows at her, didn’t understand her. She rolled her eyes at me as she was smirking again.
“Well, I cannot spill everything to you, so you have to figure it out yourself,” she said before she went away. I shrugged my body before I was smiling as I was greeting the guests that were leaving.
I think I was looking forward to my reward tomorrow, with Tony nonetheless.
*****
The sun was shining as I was tossing and turning in my bed. The sunlight was hitting my face as I sighed with content. I smiled as Tony said that our work had paid off when he got another phone call from another aristocratic family that wanted to book him as their wedding planner. I was happy at that thought.
But I was also sad. That meant that we would be working much more and I think Tony slept these days to get the reception into his perfect vision. Maybe I have to take my role seriously after this.
I was paid to take care of him.
I got up from bed as I was stretching from the sore muscles that I had been using last night. I was happy and smiling before my hotel door burst open. I shrieked before I saw Tony was coming inside.
“Tony! What are you doing here?” I hissed at him before he looked at me bored. I was pulling the duvet close to my body as I was wearing my pajamas. I don’t want him to think that I was still a kid, wearing that kind of clothes to bed.
“Come on, bella. We don’t have all day. You need to get out of your bed and take a shower this instant,” Tony said as he pocketed his phone and went to my side of the bed. He took the duvet off my body as I was screaming at him.
“Tony, I will take my shower and all, but you have to get out of my room. What will others think?” I hissed before he laughed it off.
“Oh, bella, they will not think of anything. They know you’re not my type as I was too sophisticated to settle with you,” he said as my heart broke after hearing his confession.
I don’t think I was ready to hear that.
Antonio Romano’s POV
Idiota!
Why do I have to tell her that? I was stupid. I cannot handle it anymore as I was looking at the bathroom door and the shower that was running inside. Christina had been silent since I said that to her face. She was not happy that I had told her that.
I think I broke her heart now.
I sighed before I instructed Nina to get the picnic basket into my car as we would be leaving immediately. I was typing something before the shower stopped and the bathroom door was opening.
“Christina, hurry up. We’re going to be—“ I stopped in my sentence as I saw Christina in her towel that was wrapped loosely around her body and the water dripped from her hair as I was gulping at the sight.
She was a goddess, I tell you that.
“Be what?” She asked as she moved to the closet to get her attire. I was gulping again as she was sashaying around the room and now she was looking for clothes to put on.
“We’re going to be late if you don’t hurry up,” I said as I was getting up from bed and I went to help her. I wanted her to wear something gorgeous but not too sexy. I don’t trust another man not to stare at her.
My blood boiled at that thought.
“Here,” I said as I was handing her the sundress that was grazing below her knees and it was 3/4 sleeves. That should do the trick.
“Won’t it be too hot for me to wear this?” She asked as she was looking at me. I could see the hint of her cleavage that was showing from the towel before I shoved the dress at her.
“No, and I don’t think that I want others to look at you,” I growled as I was instructing her to get dressed. She rolled her eyes at me before mumbling in Hungarian, “I didn’t think you would be this demanding,” she said before she went to the bathroom.
I smirked at that thought, as she thought I didn’t understand what she was talking about.
Oh, bella, you have a lot more to learn about me.
