Charles Debrun’s POV
“How’s work or whatever you do this time of year?” Tony asked me as I was looking at Kiara, who was avoiding my gaze. I did not know why she would not look at me as we were eating in the dining room that Tony and Christina were hosting for us.
“Charles?”
“Huh, oh yeah. I did not do anything much. I just got back from Denmark, I outsmarted that stupid b***h, Sophia Hansen,” I said as I was turning to look at Tony. He was arching his eyebrows at me before he shook his head as he was smiling. I frowned.
“What’s so funny?” I asked him as he was sipping on his wine. His light brown eyes were gleaming with mischief. I know he was hiding something from me.
“Come on, I know you. You would not make that gesture if you had something to say to me,” I said as I was cutting the salmon that was seasoned to perfection. I don’t see any cooking, so maybe it was either Christina or Tony that did the cooking. It was good.
However, when we were trying to find the kitchen, I heard some distinctive voices that were coming from behind the kitchen. I thought it must be some workers but when we got close, it stopped before Kiara was asking me something.
I answered her question when our hosts were coming with a lot of disarrayed clothing and messed-up hair. I think they were leading a happy marriage. Which I was hoping that I would do one day.
Yeah, one day, I thought before I went to look at Kiara who was looking around the house. My heart swelled at that thought before I was being nudged by Tony into the present time.
“What?” I asked as Tony was arching his eyebrows at me again. I sighed. I hated him for knowing something that I tried to cover up very much.
“You know, if you wanted to make her yours, you just have to do the right thing,” he said as he was looking at the ladies that were talking animatedly. They were not talking to us as Christina was asking so much of Kiara that she could not keep up with the questions.
“Propose to her,” he whispered to me in Hungarian, in which we have the advantage here, as Kiara did not know that language.
“She will unlikely to accept my proposal,” I said as I was sipping on my wine. Tony chuckled as he was eyeing Kiara, who was nodding at something that Christina said.
“Look, dude, I know why you did what you must in the past, but right now, it’s all in the past. You need to move on and that move on includes Kiara,” Tony said as he was looking at me. I sighed as I rubbed my face.
“I don’t know. Maybe I can persuade her but—“
“Then do it.”
“—she will not do it just because I want to. She will do something crazy before I can say ‘I do’ to her,” I said as Tony was crossing his hands in front of his chest.
“Well, at least you know she cares about you.”
“I doubt that,”
“Have you slept together yet?” Tony whispered as I was sipping on my wine. I choked on my drink as the ladies were looking at us right now. Kiara was eyeing me as if it felt good that I was choking on some wine.
“You have. Well, that’s good. Did she declare something to you in that passionate moment?” Tony asked me as he was sipping on his wine before returning to the salmon.
“What? Why do you even bother to know?”
“I just want to check some facts,” he replied casually. I rolled my eyes at my best friend before I took a deep breath.
“Well, she did declare that she loved me,” I said as I was cutting some salmon and eating it.
“When was it?”
“5 years ago, before, I did something stupid and it was our first time,” I said, as I just realized that I was giving too much information now.
“That’s good news then.”
“Keynote: 5 years ago. And I said loved. Past tense. It means that she does not love me anymore,” I said as I was sighing before I put the knife and fork down and dabbed my mouth with the napkin.
“Hmm,” he said before I rolled my eyes again at him.
“Well, I tried, so I hope that Christina will do her part well,” he said as I turned sharply at me.
“Wait, you conspire with your wife to put Kiara and me together. Man, what the hell?!” I hissed at him as he chuckled at me.
“She thinks that you guys are the perfect match. Don’t you?” His brown eyes were gleaming at me. I scoffed.
I hated this guy that I called my best friend right now.
Kiara Hoffman’s POV
Charles’ mood was dangerous as Tony was laughing with him. I don’t know what they were talking about, but I think it was not something good.
Not that I cared about him or anything.
“So, anyway, I think we might go to Switzerland for our next anniversary. Oh, Kiara, that would be wonderful. You guys can show us around then,” Christina said as she was talking non-stop again.
“What, sorry. I was not in the moment,” I said as I turned to look at her. She was smiling wickedly as I was trying to control my annoyance right now.
“Well, I see why you are so distracted right now. Cannot take your eyes off him, huh?” She said as she was sipping on her wine. I scoffed at her statement.
“If I could take my eyes from him, would you think I would be sitting with you right here, eating baked salmon, which is good by the way, and ogling him from afar? Not my style at all,” I said as I sipped my wine. The burning sensation and sour taste was a welcome to my throat. I needed to get numb from this feeling that was coming to grip my heart like a beast.
“I see,” was the only response that Christina gave me. I narrowed my eyes at her as she was chuckling at me.
“Well, it has been a great dinner and I think we must retire soon,” Christina said as she finished with her drinks. She stood up to collect the plates but she was too drunk to stand up.
“Jeez, I told you no wine while I was around,” Tony said as he was coming at Christina when she was mumbling about something.
“You need to get laid. Your dry spell is killing you,” she said as she was pointing at me before Tony was carrying her in his arms.
“I need to put her down now. Do you mind cleaning up the table?” Tony asked as I nodded at him.
“Thanks,” he said as he was carrying Christina out of the dining room.
“Dry spell, Kiara. Dry spell!” she shouted, which echoed through the house. I sighed as I could sense that heated gaze into the back of my head. I turned around and Charles was smirking at me as I rolled my eyes at me.
“Do you need my help?” He asked. I scoffed at him before I was collecting the plates.
“No thank you as I can do it all by myself,” I said as I was collecting the plates before Charles stopped me.
“Charles, I don’t have time for this,” I said as I turned to look at him. His hazel eyes were darkened now. Not a good sign. But I liked that they focused on me.
“Hmm, I think I want my dessert now,” he purred as he was kissing my wrist.
“Charles,” I warned him, but he ignored it. This man needed a lesson that no meant no. It’s not that hard.
“Charles, no,” I said as I was trying to push him off me, but he was too strong for me. I tsked before I went to slide my feet across his legs. He avoided it as well as he pushed me onto the table. Thankfully, the plates were out of the way.
“Behave, Charles, we’re in public,” I hissed at him as he smirked at me.
“Don’t worry. They would not hear a thing. I think they were having some of their entertainment as well,” he said as he was nuzzling my neck, licking my throat. It was enticing and I couldn't stop the moan that was coming from my mouth.
“Damn it, Charles,” I snapped at him. He just chuckled again as he was licking my shoulder blades that made my knees turn to jelly.
“Will you let me have my dessert, sweetheart?” He asked in his husky voice and I was rolling my eyes at the back of my head.
“Charles,” I said as I was biting my lower lips.
“Yes?” He asked, as he did not have a clue right now.
“Just hurry up as we need to clean the table before we can hit the sack,” I panted as he was looking into my eyes.
“Why did not you say so?” He asked before he released my hands as I was gripping his hair. He went down on me as he was unzipping my pants before he dragged them down my legs. He pulled my panties to the side before his tongue was licking my slit.
“Damn it,” I hissed as I was shoving my hips into his mouth and he was eager to give it to me.
“Charles,” I moaned as he was sucking on my c**t before I was building the wave. It was nice and warm before he stopped as he pulled his pants up and dropped me off the table.
“Now I have got a taste, why not we clean up first and continue?” He said as he went away with the plates before he put them inside the dishwasher. I was still dizzy before I could function. I shook my head as I was getting some wipes to wipe the table and get the wine glasses to put into the dishwasher as well.
“You’re a tease, Charles Debrun,” I said as I was pointing my finger at his chest. He laughed and I think my core was doing some flips. He closed the dishwasher as he turned to me before he scooped me up as I wrapped my legs around his torso.
“Now, where were we?” He said as he was striding toward our shared room as I was smiling at him.
