Kathleen Remes’ POV
After the engagement ball last night, I went back to the summer estate that has been my new home after my encounter with my so-called fiancé, Kai Virtanen. So he was in love with Katherine for being a goody-two-shoes. I closed my eyes as I was trying to control my anger.
Why I was feeling that emotion, I have no idea myself.
“Milady, there is someone here that claims to be your fiancé,” John said as I was watching television.
“Oh, bring him in. And make tea, will you, John?” I said as I went out of the living room and greeted Kai in the foyer of the estate. I was not wearing something grand as I knew that it would be effortless for him. I opened the door as I looked at Kai, who was bringing my favorite flowers, tulips.
“Is that for me?” I asked him. He was scratching his neck as he smiled nervously.
“I might as well act like your doting fiancé in public, am I?” He said as he gave me the flower. I took it from his hands as I touched him. It ran electricity that made me jump for a while.
“Everything okay?” He asked as he looked at me.
“Yeah, yeah. Oh, where are my manners? Come on in. It was chilly outside,” I said as I pulled him inside the house.
“Thank you,” Kai said as he took off his coat and fedora.
“Put it in the closet to your right,” I said as I went to the kitchen to put the flowers in the vase. John was waiting as I was smiling at him.
“Lovely flowers, milady,” John said as he was making the tea that I asked him for.
“Yes. And it’s my favorite as well,” I said as I put them inside the vase and filled some water to keep them alive for a while.
“Bring them to my room later, please, and thank you,” I said as I went to take Kai’s hand, who was standing in the living room.
“Come, we will be doing it in my room,” I said, as I knew he wouldn’t think anything dirty.
“Milady, the tea,” John said as he was out of the kitchen.
“Yes, of course,” I said as I took the tray from him.
“We will be in my room. Please do not disturb until I say so,” I said to John as he would relay it to the other servant.
“Come on, Kai,” I said as I took his arm and dragged him to my room.
“How are you doing?” He said to John before we went to the left wing. There was a long hallway as well as the stairs that we ascended to get to my room. When we arrived in front of the huge oak doors, I pushed it open before we went inside the room.
“Do you always say that in front of your butler?” Kai asked as he looked at me. I smiled at him.
“Every single day,” I said as I put the tea on the coffee table. I turned to look at him before gesturing my hands to my room.
“Make yourself at home,” I said as I went to the bathroom to get something for my hair to pin up with.
“Kai?” I asked as I went out of the bathroom. I looked around but he was nowhere to be found.
“Hey,” he said as he went out of the wardrobe. It made me jump as I tried to calm down my heartbeat.
“Jesus,” I said as I closed my eyes.
“What’s wrong?” He asked like he had nothing to do about it.
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong is that you always make me jump,” I said as I slapped his arm playfully. He laughed and it was the first time I heard it. It was nice and I kind of liked it.
“Sorry, I did not mean to,” he said before he took a seat on the sofa. I went to cross leg on the sofas as well. I was looking at the plan that I made last night after the party that I spread on the coffee table next to the tray before Kai broke the silence.
“Do you usually dress like this?” He asked as he looked at me. I looked at him before I was looking down at my clothing. I was wearing a tank top with shorts. Nothing’s wrong with this. I arched my eyebrows.
“Yeah, why?” I said as I looked at him. Then, I was back at planning my sister’s demise.
“Nothing, just curious. Does John feel anything at all when he sees you like this?” He asked as I was looking up from the plan. Well, that was an interesting conversation.
“I don’t know. I have never asked him before, but if he was about to do something stupid to me, he would remember that I am the royal family that is under his care. He cannot let anything happen to me and he has also been celibate,” I said, which made him gulp after the word ‘celibate’. I smirked.
“Well, that’s a shame,” Kai said. I shrugged.
“It’s what he wants, to serve this country,” I said as I looked at him.
“And you ruined it with your bad behavior,” Kai’s words made me stop my action and look at my plan again. I blinked as if I didn’t hear him right.
“What did you just say?” I asked him again as I wanted him to repeat it himself.
“I said that you have made the reputation of the royal family tainted that they need help from us, The House of Virtanen,” he said smugly as I looked at him. His sea-green orbs were shining with mischief. I leaned back on the sofa, straightening my legs.
“Is that so?” I said as I crossed my legs at him.
“Yes, and as you can see, you can never get back from that. The Bad Princess is what people call you,” he said as he was leaning on the sofa.
“Please, go on. Tell me more,” I said sarcastically. Kai was looking at my face before he shook his head.
“I think I said enough,” Kai said as he stood up to get out of the room. I snorted before I spoke to him.
“You know, I thought you and I were different, but after what I found out about you last night, I think you’re just the same as me,” I said as I was standing up from the sofa before throwing the dossier that contained Kai Virtanen.
“Kai Virtanen, the first grandson of Levine Virtanen. Born in Rovaniemi but moved to Helsinki when I was 5 years old. I graduated from the University of Helsinki in Business Administration and have been working at the family company since I was 21 years old.
“You have a notorious way with ladies, but when your grandfather’s will says that you have to marry, you immediately accept my father’s proposal with no resistance. I think you don’t have anything to say about me, don’t you?” I said as I looked at him.
“Well, what a little surprise. You can read after all,” he said as he turned to look at me.
“I can do more than that,” I said, smirking at him. He narrowed his eyes at me as I knew that he would have the nerve to attack me, considering the way that he had been treating his mistresses based on the police report.
If I can trust those reports.
“What are you going to do, Princess? Nothing can take me on and that includes you,” he said as he walked slowly toward me. I closed my eyes as I smiled. I opened my eyes before looking at him sharply.
“I don’t need to. You need my help to sweep my sister off her feet, but you have to learn your mood swings, Kai,” I said to him. He narrowed his eyes at me before he pointed his finger at me.
“You don’t have anything to say to me because you’re just as bad as I am,” he said as he looked at me murderously.
“Maybe I am, but I’m better,” I said before he went to attack me. I took my stand before I kicked him in the stomach and I flipped back on the sofa to get away from his attack. He grunted before taking a sofa and throwing it at me.
Wow, he’s strong. I slid down to avoid it before he grabbed my ankle and threw me across the room. I grunted as my back made contact with the walls. Damn, I might have miscalculated his strength just now.
“You have to control it, Kai,” I said as I looked at him. I spit out a tooth that had just come off my gum. Lovely…
“Damn it,” I said before I looked at the flying TV that was coming at me. I’m sure John will be mad after this.
“You w***e,” he said as I went to flip above his head before I landed on his back and pinched his jugular vein that could make him go to sleep.
“Control, Kai, control it. Don’t let it control you,” I said as I pinched him. He was groaning as he tried to get me off him. He punched me in the stomach but I made sure that he wouldn’t get anything in his way anymore. Also, I don’t want more damage to be done in my room as I know John would be angry with me later.
“Kai, listen to me. Remember Katherine, remember why you asked for my help,” I said as I looked at him.
“Remember,” I said as I looked deep into that sea-green orb. I was holding my breath as I was hoping that he could control it.
“Remember,” I whispered into his ear before he closed his eyes as I did something that was unimaginable. After that, I held his face in my arms as I closed my eyes.
“Remember her,” I said as I could feel that Kai had fallen to the ground, sleeping. A knock interrupted me as I looked at the door.
“I heard something crash in here. Is everything okay, milady?” John said as he popped his head inside the room. It was a mess as I knew the sofa was hitting the wall and the window was broken as the television was out of sight,
“Is everything, um, okay, milady?” He asked as he looked at me and Kai’s condition.
“Yes, everything is fine, John,” I said as I looked at Kai.
“Everything is just peachy,” I said before I took a seat on the bed.
