Chapter 2.2

Christina Dobulski’s POV “Well, I hope you will get that job,” Kiara said as she was sniffing and her nose was red. “Hey, I was just going to get a job, not dead.” “I know, I just can’t believe my best friend will be out into the world,” she said as she was crying like a baby now. A few glances from the strangers as if we were a couple. I smiled awkwardly before I shook Kiara out of her misery. “Keep it together, girl!” I hissed at her before she was sniffing and sighed. “Okay, okay. You’re right. I have to keep it together,” she said as I was looking at her. She smiled as she was patting my shoulders. “Stay strong and whatever s**t that loser gives to you, you will handle it with dignity,” she said as I smiled at her. “Well, that’s the best thing that anyone could ever say to me,” I said as I was smiling at her. She smiled before she hugged me like a sister she never had. “I’ll miss you,” she said as I was patting her back. “But of course, after you go on that mission of yours, you hardly remember that you have a best friend,” I said as I was laughing at her. “Did I?” “Always,” I said as I was taking my backpack and I was checking if everything was in order. “Remind me again, how can you get out of here if you don’t want your family to detect that you have gone out of the country?” She asked as I smirked at her. “I have a connection, remember?” “You mean to the dark side?” She asked as she was arching her eyebrows at me. I laughed at her reaction. “Well, you get a lot of free time, hence you end up like me,” I said as I was hearing some announcement for my flight. “Well, I think it has its perks,” Kiara said as she shrugged at me. “Yup, and I think I love it even more.” “Don’t get too cocky,” “Who said I am?” I said as I was waving her goodbye before she was smiling at me and she waved at me. I was smiling and was getting in line for an ID check-up and when I turned back, Kiara was gone. I did not know how she did it, but she always seemed to disappear right after our conversations, like always. I have nothing against that but I wonder if she was keeping a secret. Eh, not that I cared about it. I was waiting and waiting as some of the passengers were taking so long to get through the check-up that I had a leg cramp after I went to the officer that would be checking my ID. “Hello,” he said curtly before I smiled at him. “Christina Dobulski,” “That’s me,” I replied as I was smiling. He looked at me strangely before I smiled awkwardly at him. He was typing on the computer before I was looking at everyone else. There was a family that was struggling to get their children to behave. There was an old couple that was having their second honeymoon. There was a man that walked straight out of a men’s magazine with his lean, toned body. I stared at him as he was smiling and nodding curtly at the officer before he went out. “Miss,” the officer said as I turned sharply at him. “You’re good to go,” he said as I was thanking him, and I went to follow the sign to get to my gate. “Gate 129, gate 129,” I said as I was asking for some directions and people were kind enough to let me know where it was. I was walking on, I saw that familiar man again and I was sitting across him from the other side as he was talking on the phone. He was talking in the language that I have learned as my third language; Italian. “Hey, dolcezza, you’re still up?” He asked as he was smiling dreamily as he was talking on the phone. Then, I noticed that he was smiling like an i***t. Must be his lover then. “Yeah, I’m at the airport now. The flight got delayed for 30 minutes as the storm was brewing near Budapest,” he said as he was looking out into the sky. I could see that his eyes were slate orbs. Such a sight. “Well, I can hardly wait for that surprise, dolcezza,” he said before he smirked as he was shaking his head. “Well, I got to go. I will see you soon, cara mia,” he said before he hung up. I was so into him that I did not notice he had moved to get to the airplane. I shook my head. What was wrong with me? I cannot believe that I was staring at a man as time stood still. Someone else’s husband is at that as well. Argh! I wanted to kill myself for being so naive. The flight attendant called for my zone as I went to line up and wait before we could get on board. I was happy and excited but also scared. I was unfamiliar with the outside world, but right now, I was ready to get out there. I will make myself proud. “Hi,” the attendant said as he scanned my ticket and let me pass. I thanked him as I was walking to the plane in the tunnel that connected to my flight. “Welcome,” the flight attendant was greeting me as I was smiling at her. “Which seat?” She asked as I showed her my ticket. “To the right,” she said before I walked to that side. I was being greeted by the business class people as I saw the familiar man that I had been watching from afar. He was serious now as he was working on something on his phone before he shoved it into his jacket and looked outside the window. I think he was a brooding type. After some other rows that I walked past, I was at my seat before I put my backpack in the overhead compartment and I took my seat. It was beside the aisle because I have a small bladder. So, it was easier for me to go to the lavatory when the time came. “Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Captain Aurora and I will be flying this airplane today. My crew and I wish you to enjoy our flight and services. You can check the brochures that were in front of you and we will be happy to serve you,” the captain said before the flight attendant took over. She was explaining the safety and the procedures if the flight was out of control or we had an emergency landing. There was a video that showed where to go to the exit door and where to find the vest for our safety. I hoped such things would never happen. “Please fasten your seat belt. We are ready to take off,” the captain said as she was getting the plane into its track as I was straightening myself. I was happy to know that everything that I have experienced thus far was an adventure. I was staring at people for like a good 10 minutes. You should not be doing that, of course. Then, I was smiling and greeting people who were working to make Hungary a better country and place to stay. I was happy to know that people were working hard and I took it for granted. “Please remain seated until the altitude is at 15 000 feet in the air,” the captain said as we were launching forward. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride, but this time, it was not. I was moving out of my country as I was smiling at the new experience that lay ahead of me. I can only hope that everything will run smoothly. Antonio Romano’s POV I was having a terrible day. The day of Lucca Giovanni’s wedding was around the corner and I had so many things to be done. I needed my PA as soon as possible. I was not having a good meal and right now, I was stuck to my desk all day. “Sir?” My assistant asked me as I was snapping at her. “What?!” I snapped as she was cowering at the door. “We will take our leave now,” she said. She was afraid I would do something. Well, not that ever happened but the fact that I grew up in that setting, I was ashamed that I could snap at a woman and they were cowering with fear. I took a deep breath before I sighed. “Yes, you may. And thank you for your services today,” I said as I was composing myself. I needed to get my s**t together. Damn it! “You too. Have a good night sir,” they said in unison before closing the door behind them as they went away. I was rubbing my face as I was looking at my plan for the reception of Giovanni’s wedding in Finale Ligure. It was magnificent and I think I have to pat him on my shoulder for a good job. “Well, tomorrow, all of this mess will be over as I will have a new PA,” I said as I was sipping my tea. I had a lot of personal assistants in the past but they were all not competent for the fast-paced life that I led. I sure hoped the one that only applied for this position knew how to live like that. What’s living when you don't have your full capacity to live it? Right?
