Chapter 1.12

Kathleen Remes’ POV As we landed last night, we headed straight to the hotel as I don’t think I could pretend to be okay with being covered in sweat. “Hurry up, Kai. I need a shower already,” I said as I looked at him. He was looking bored at me before he got out of the airplane to go to the waiting car in the hangar of his grandfather’s small private airport. “Well, what are we waiting for?” I asked as I was standing in front of him. He was thinking, as I could see, his motors were being turned inside my head. “Now that we are out of the country, we can go our separate ways,” he said as he looked smugly at me. I scoffed at him. How dare he?! “Do you suggest that I wander myself alone in this country?” I asked as I looked at him. He was taking some notes out of his wallet. I scoffed again. “Unbelievable. I thought we might need to make your Katherine jealous,” I said as I looked at him. He stopped his action and looked at me. “You see, that’s an attitude there which I don’t like very much,” he said as he looked at me. I glared at him as I put my hands on my hips. “And why is that?” I asked him. He smiled wickedly at me as I rolled my eyes. “No reason. Oh, maybe it is because Katherine doesn’t have it, you see,” he said as he crossed his arms. My blood was boiling inside. I cannot let him insult me like that. I put my chin up and got ready to be in his arms. “Well, as you can see, I am not the sister that you dearly love so much. So, if you want to be with her, we must stick to the plan to make her jealous,” I said as I looked at him squarely. He rolled his eyes again at me. “That’s where you’re wrong. We, Virtanen, will only be married once in our lifetime and last night, I will be stuck with you forever,” he said as he exploded at me. I scoffed at him. “I did ask you if we were going too fast, but no, you have to be loyal to your king as you said I DO!” I shouted, a look that made people at the airport look at us. Kai was sensitive when people looked at him. Maybe because there will be another tabloid about him or me, in that sense. “Shh, keep your voice down,” he said as he tried to close my mouth with his hand. “No, I will not—“ I said before I was shoved inside the car and Kai took the driver’s seat. “Where are we going?” I asked as I looked at him. He turned on the ignition and drove off from the hangar at lightning speed. “My grandpa would have people around me to keep me in check, hence we will be spending the night together, my dear,” he said as he looked ahead and his grip on the steering wheel was white. Seeing that he was not in the mood for talking, I sat quietly as we passed the historical buildings in Greece. Kai Virtanen’s POV Damn it! I cannot believe it that I almost lost control in front of the public, and with Kathleen in front of me. I had to control my urge to break things as I was driving toward our hotel. When we got inside the car, the only thing that was playing was the radio, as Kathleen was fast asleep beside me. I looked at her briefly from time to time when she moved in her sleep and she looked so peaceful that my heart was blooming at the sight. Keep it together, Virtanen. You don’t love her, you like her sister, my mind said as I was trying to concentrate. I looked at the watch and it was 10:30 PM in Greece. I usually travel a lot, so a little jet-lagged did not hurt me. I saw the hotel sign as I went to the park in front of the lobby and I got out of the car. “Good evening, sir,” the valet said in Greek, which I replied fluently. “Good evening. Just a moment, my wife is asleep. Can you bring the luggage to our room, please?” I said as I went to pick her up. She did not stir in her sleep when I scooped her up in my arms. “Good evening, sir. How can I be of your assistance today?” The receptionist told me when I had a reservation under my name. She handed me the key and I thanked her before I went into the room. Once I put my key card inside the slot, I went to put Kathleen on the bed as long as I could. She did not stir one bit but she continued to sleep. I scoffed at her insolent behavior before I went to the bathroom and took a cold shower to calm my nerves down. I stripped off my traveling clothes on the floor of the bathroom as I opened the faucet. I let the water drip on my body as I was trying to calm my nerves and my anger. “Calm yourself. Control it. Don’t let it control you,” Kathleen’s voice was on my mind as I tried to calm myself. I heard her voice but Katherine’s image was on my head on the night that we danced together. “I don’t think that you will be married before your cousin, Kai,” she said as I waltzed us along the dance floor. “Well, I can’t believe myself that I am a married man now,” I said as I threw her in the air as she smiled and laughed. “Did you ever know that I had a crush on you before you knew it, Kai?” Katherine said as she looked at me. I was speechless. I don’t think that she would confess to me on my wedding day. “What changed?” I asked as a joke. Katherine looked at me as she went to whisper in my ear. “The moment when you’re married to my sister,” she said before she smiled at me. “Well, it is done now. I think I could never move on, but I have Chris now. So, I hope you will give my sister the happiness that she deserves,” she said as she bowed to me. I replied before she turned to look at my wife. Her face was stoic but I knew something was bothering her. “Shall we fetch the person that we belonged to?” She said before dragging me toward them. I opened my eyes as I could sense my body was getting pruned under the cold water. I closed the faucet and slid the door open. I pulled the towel that was ready on the counter before I covered myself. I went to look in the mirror and I was a mess. A hot mess. Kathleen Remes’ POV I heard someone was showering, but I don’t think we have a shower in the car. I could feel that my body was feeling soft under my back. I opened my eyes and I was in a different room. I don’t know what happened, but I looked at the luggage that was sitting in the corner of the suite. I sighed as I heard the shower stop. I got up from bed and I stretched. It felt good. I got off of bed and was getting ready for my shower. Suddenly, the door to the bathroom opened and I was startled. “Jesus, can you not do that?” I asked as I went toward the luggage to get my things out. “Sorry if I scared you then, little princess,” Kai’s voice was cold. I stopped searching for my nightgown before I turned to look at him. “What is wrong with you? First, you are happy and the next minute, you’re mad. I don’t get it,” I said as I looked at Kai who was looking out the window like the Greek god he was. “I believe it was none of your business,” he said coldly. It started to irritate me. “I don’t believe I married a busy body woman for a wife,” he said in Greek. He thought I didn’t know the language. I wanted to laugh at his attempted humor. “Well, sorry if I was a busy busybody your mother then,” I replied in Greek as well. He stiffed before he turned to look at me. “You understand me?” He said as he looked at me. I crossed my arms at him. “Yes, and does that surprise you? I bet it did,” I said before I was walking toward the bathroom. “What other things have been hiding from me?” He asked as he took my wrist and turned me around before I crashed into his hard chest and the fact that he was half-naked! “I believe it was none of your business,” I said as I tried to get out of his deathly grip. “Let. Me. Go!” I shouted as the toiletries were dropped from my hands. When I was struggling, Kai’s towel slipped off and I stopped to stare at his well-endowed groin. I was stiffened and didn’t know what to do. He smirked. I turned to look at him with a murderous glare. “I believe you owe me a wedding night,” he said before he crashed his lips on me and, with that, I was lost to his expertise in touch and seduction.
