Kiara Hoffman’s POV
I was wearing a long, baby blue dress with long sleeves that covered everything. I think that we should do it since we will be going to the party that was thrown by Chris Virtanen at the very hotel where we have stayed together. I don’t think that I would be going to this party looking like a lady.
I frowned. Maybe I should tell Charles that I would stay behind and sneak around to find the connection of Chris Virtanen to the attack in Hungary. I sighed before someone was knocking on the door. It must be Charles.
“Are you ready?” He asked before he slid into the room and I was looking at him. He wore his black Armani suit that had been prepared by the boss for this mission. I was gulping myself right now, I didn’t think that he would be devilish and yummy in that tux.
Calm down, Kiara. Control it.
“Yes, I was just going to call you. Let me get my clutch and we’re set,” I said as I was smiling at him. He nodded before he looked at his watch. I went to the vanity mirror before I took the clutch. But not without checking him out first.
His high cheekbones. His full kissable lips. It has been some time now as I kissed his lips. After that, sneaking into Chris Virtanen’s suite, we did not attempt to kiss anymore. Or should I say, I don’t have any purpose to kiss him? I blushed before I took my clutch and went to his side.
“You’re ready to do this, Mrs. Durand?”
“As you would, Mr. Durand,” I said as I went to drape my hand on his arm as we went out of the room and went to the elevator before we descended to the ballroom.
“I think you look beautiful tonight,” Charles mumbled, but I heard every word. I cleared my throat.
“Well, thank you. And you have outdone yourself as well, doctor,” I said as I was smiling. He chuckled before he shook his head.
“You will never call me by my name, won’t you?” He asked.
“Well, I think I still prefer to call you ‘doctor’. It suits you after all,” I said as I turned to look at him. He scowled.
“I don’t think you should continue to call me that. I’m not a good example of a doctor after all,” he said before we were walking inside the ballroom. We stopped at the end of the stairs as Charles was giving the invitation to the woman that was handling the guest list. She nodded at us before we descended the stairs.
I looked around for that blonde male that slept next to my room last night. But I couldn’t find him.
“Where is he?” I asked Charles as he also scanned the room. Charles did the same and he shook his head.
“Maybe he is not here yet?” I asked him as he was looking around.
“s**t,” he mumbled before he moved us out of the way. I was looking at him as I was confused about why we were at the back end of the ballroom where there was no light at all.
“Doctor, what are you trying to do?” I asked before he put his finger to my lips. His long finger was grazing my lips and I had the urge to lick it. But that thought had perished as he was looking at something. Well, it was someone.
“Who is that?” I asked him as he was glaring at me now, asking me to be quiet.
“None of your concern,” he replied. I scoffed before I pushed him a bit to get some room. His tall body was covering me from knowing who he was looking at.
“Just let me breathe,” I whispered to him before he mumbled sorry as I was trying to catch a glimpse of that someone he was looking at. She was petite with a lovely face as she was laughing at someone’s statement. She had blonde hair but paler than me. It almost seemed white as she was looking around in a certain lighting.
“It’s her, isn’t it?” I said as Charles was looking at me.
“Your dead fiancée. What is she doing here? I thought she would be 6 feet underground after that explosion I saved you from.”
“Beats me but whatever it was, she cannot see me here. Or the whole plane will be ruined,” he said as he was breathing hard. If I did not know any better, I think Charles Debrun, the doctor that I knew, was afraid.
Of a woman that was once his fiancée.
I was looking at him as he was trying to look for another way out. Even if I despised him for being the son of my father’s rival, it didn’t mean that I should hate him as well.
He even stood up on our dinner date one time.
But seeing him in distress caused my heart to break. I don’t even know that I still have a heart to be broken because I thought it had already shattered from my past, his action with it. As well as my father and other people that were trying to take advantage of me.
Well, most of them, but not Christina. She’s my true friend, even though she married that incorrigible guy, Antonio Romano.
“Hey,” I whispered to him as he turned to look into my eyes. His hazel eyes were shining as I could see that someone, his fiancée, had spotted us. And she was making her way here.
“You don’t have to be afraid. If anything, I’m here,” I said as I was caressing his face. He sighed as he was trying to get my hand off of his cheek.
“Kiara, I—“
“Shut up, you i***t. That b***h is coming here,” I hissed at him as I was snaking my arms around him. He was breathing hard, as I could sense his eyes were dilating as he looked into my eyes.
“Kiara, what are you doing?” He asked.
“What I should have done 5 years ago,” I whispered before I was kissing him. It was bliss really when I saw, in the corner of my eyes, Charles’ undead fiancée was walking toward someone that was near us. I hid his face with my kiss before she snorted at us and told herself it was improper.
Well, I will show you improperly, you b***h!
After she had long gone, I was not aware of the hand that was wrapping my waist and pulled me closer. I was grazing my n*****s that were under my dress, since I did not wear a bra, on Charles's chest. I moaned at the contact.
“Shh, do not make any noise. People will think we were doing something improper,” Charles said as he was smirking at me. I scoffed at him as he was pulling me closer.
“Hands off the merchandise, mister,” I said as I was pushing him away. He knotted his eyebrows together.
“Oh, I was not aware that you were one.”
“Just get off me,” I hissed at him before he pulled me closer. This time my chest was heaving against him.
“Or what?” Charles asked, as I could see the nervousness had gone out of his system. His confident self was coming to play.
“She’s gone. And we can continue to check out the rest of the ball,” I said as I was pushing him away, but he went to my ear before he whispered.
“What will you pay me if I obey your command?” He asked before he was licking my ear. I jerked in his grasp before I pushed him away.
“Charles,” I said as I was gripping his shoulders.
“Kiara,” he whispered before he was kissing my neck. I gasped before I moaned. As I was imagining things that he would do to me, the scene of the ball faded as I was lost in my daydreaming and Charles was the star of it.
I did not know what happened except that I had teleported us into the plain sight of every human being at the ball. I hoped no one would find out about that.
“Charles,” I said his name for the second time after 5 years of holding some grudges against that name.
“Yes, Kiara?” He asked as he was still kissing my throat and jaws. We were in the honeymoon suite that we rented for our disguise but I was the only one sleeping there and he slept elsewhere. I think I might go insane right now.
“What are you trying to do?” I asked him as he was chuckling at my question.
“Guess, my Kiara,” he said as he was looking at me. I cannot think as I was looking at the ceiling.
“I can’t…think when…you are kissing my throat,” I said, as I cannot believe I was able to form a sentence at all.
“And why is that?” He asked.
“I don’t know,” I rasped as I was gripping his shoulder right now.
“Well, maybe if I keep doing it, you will remember then,” he said before he took my nape as he was facing my face with him. His eyes were burning as he looked at me heatedly. I was breathing hard before he pulled me closer.
“This is punishment for forgetting about me after 5 bloody years,” he mumbled before he kissed me.
And I think I still can’t remember why.
