MCLAIN HOUSE
At home this night there is a jovial attitude. Everyone, Blondie and I, and the kids, is happy. The kids do not understand why we are so happy, but Blondie and I are pleased that they are releasing Pop Nagel. This case has had a heart-stopping ending that no one will ever forget, as long as they live. The kids are too young to understand what it all means.
After dinner I retire to the living room and listen to the radio station where they are playing music. Nat King Cole’s “Pretend,” Eddie Fisher’s “I’m Walking Behind You,” Patti Page’s “How Much is That Doggie in the Window,” as well as Teresa Brewer’s “Till I Waltz Again With You,” at which point Blondie comes into the room. She wants to turn on the television to watch I Love Lucy.
