Chapter Fifteen

1090 Words
Emmie did not look happy. Not in the least, but she took my hand and lead me out of the room and down a few more corridors and stairs. Until we came to a door hidden away in a little corridor. "This is my room, not a lot of the pack come in here. But just incase I'm going to lock the door." she says as she ushers me inside. It doesn't matter if she locks the door or not I've proven they're doors are flimsy. Weird that a bunch of shifters would have such crappy doors. Where would they keep them when the go feral? That's a question for Emmie after I get some answers. "Right, take a seat." she says. "Anywhere you want." I can tell she's nervous and feel her anxiety, but I don't care I need to know what the hell is going on. There is nowhere to sit, the room is filled with books, every shelf is lined, the tables are covered and on the chairs they're stacked high. I walk over to a small space on the wall and lean against it. If I need to sit the floor wasn't to bad. "This is fine." I tell her. We stand there each looking at the other. I can feel her anxiety levels raising, but I'm not letting her off the hook. I keep staring whilst rubbing the middle of my chest to take the ache away. "Fine." she laughs. "Right.... Um.... Where to start..." she leans over the table and pulls out a book, opens it up. I can see its the history of war from her realm. I've already read it, but not wanting to interrupt I watch and wait. She closes the book and throws it on the floor." have you read this? " she picks up another one, "this?" and another, "this?" she picks up book after book showing me the titles. Then throwing them into a pile each time asking if I've read it. I'm not sure she really wants an answer but I nod or shake my head each time. Every book has the same thing in common they're all focused on the war from her realm. "what I'm about to tell you, you cannot tell anyone. Ever. Swear it." she picks up a small leather bound book and walks towards me. She tells me to put my hand out palm up and places the book on top, then her hand palm down on top of the book. "swear on the fire within you." I look up at her, without thinking my mouth starts speaking. "I am the South, I swear on my fire that nothing you say will ever pass my lips, sister, we are one." I rip my hand back. "what the f**k was that?" I'm screaming in her face. She gives me a small smile and steps back."we are a coven. Sisters. Well half a coven till we find the other two." then she shrugs and sits on the edge of the table that's a bit clearer now she'd thrown most of the books on the floor. I think about what she said, but still am none the wiser to what it means. " Right...... Now we got that out the way. Please be patient with me. Don't ask me stuff in between let me finish then I'll answer anything." she look at me expectantly. I nod my head in agreement, settle back leaning against the wall. "Good..." seeming satisfied she picks up another book and holds it to her chest. "Everything in those books is a lie." she looks me dead in the eye, no flinching no wavering. I can feel her sencerity. But, my god thats a shock. Before I can say anything or even think of a question she launches forward. "There is a war, but its not between shifters and vampires. Do you know the story? The history? Adira went missing, that's true but not true at the same time." she looks sad for a moment, and hugs the book a little tighter. "In the beginning there was the Firsts. Three in total. Zeru is Lord of sky's, Terran Lord of lands and Adira mistress of the sea. They are siblings they each created the different packs, flocks, pods and families that make up shifters. They were good rulers. Our realm is beautiful and lush. There is no pollution animals, shifters we all live in harmony. There is peace. I know I know it sounds so cliché." She looks off into space a small smile on her face. " Adira fell in love, or I should say found her true mate. Hes a Vampire king. Unfortunately, the course of true love never runs smoothly. Did you know that witch's didn't always have to breed with other witch's? That only came about after. Sage was the high warlock at the time and he thought that he should be Adira's mate. When she refused him he placed a spell on her and all her high court. An unbreakable spell. He ruled that all half blood witch's be killed. They culled us all of us. My mother managed to hide me, along with her book." tears were pouring down her face now. I so wanted to comfort her, but she was locked in a past grief that she'd already come to terms with. I couldn't help her not really. All I could do was be here, so I gently lifted her hand and held it. " the only way to break the spell is for a coven of half and half's to recast the original spell. One shifter, one demon, one angel and one human all with witch's blood. I've finally found you. I'm not alone anymore. I have hope again that my realm which is slowly dying can be restored. That I can avenge my mother's death." she wiped her eyes and stood up. " You have a lot of magic to learn. You've trained your demon side. I've seen how strong, agile and fast you are, but now you need to be as good with magic too. It need to be as natural as your demoness. " she turned to grab a book. I don't know why I said what I did next. Maybe because we were connected and finally I'd seen into her soul a little but I don't know who was more shocked her for what I said or me for actually saying it. " I have a sister. She's an angel."
