We arrive at The Banquet Hall, the place we reserved to host the reception, in a white limousine. I feel like it's a bit excessive but it makes my mother happy, so it works for me anyway.
Our mothers are waiting at the door, ready to usher us to our seats at the Head of the Banquet Hall at a long table placed on a giant platform. The hall is decorated beautifully to match the wedding perfectly, all the way down to the bouquets on each table. The place settings are adorned with fine china and shining silverware. The waiters dressed in black slacks and black button down shirts have perfectly cleaned and pressed white aprons adorning their waists.
The waiters are offering a variety of drinks and hor's d'eourves to the guests seated at the tables. As we make our way to our seats, rather awkwardly due to the largeness of my dress, we greet each guest as we pass them. My mother, dressed elegantly in a gold wrap dress, just pushes forward excusing anyone out of the way as needed. When we finally make it to our table, the waiters begin bringing out the first dish of beef stew. Once every is finished with that and all the bowls have been cleared, they then bring out shrimp scampi and salad. Once every one is full, it's time for the toasts.
Jake begins of course, as he's the best man. I'm surprised he isn't using this poor to bash me. Instead he's simply talking about how happy he is that Jack finally found someone worthy of him. Oh, no, I spoke too soon. He just made a joke about having me first and sloppy seconds whatever that is.
My dad is giving a toast now, he's crying openly now, talking about how Jack stole his little girl and now he can't call me a little girl anymore. Honestly dad, I haven't been little in a long time, I can't believe he didn't notice.
Jack's mom is giving a speech, she's congratulating me for winning his heart and she made a joke about starting to fear he didn't like women. She's a gorgeous woman, I can see where he gets his looks from. Even dressed in a plain blue sundress she's easily the most beautiful woman in the world. She has brown hair done in a curly bob that frames her face nicely and simple makeup with only blush, a bit of mascara and some lip shimmer. She's radiant and always looks like she's glowing somehow.
We're cutting the cake now that all the toasts are done. We decided to do it together and share the first piece, it seems so romantic when people do it that way. Jack shoves my portion in my face, not even cating if he gets it in my mouth or that it went in my nose. I'm laughing as I decide to do the same to him. He's laughing too as we clean ourselves up as best we can.
The DJ is arrives and sets up his speakers and booth. He's taking requests and my maid of honor Sasha just requested Lovin' On Me By Jack Harlow. We're dancing on each other like a couple of teenagers as Jack and Jake just watch us. Everyone seems to be having a great time.
It's time to head to our honeymoon now, and as we're saying goodbye to everyone, I can't help but feel excited and sad at the same time. This will be my first time out of the country and the first night I'll be completely without my parents or my best friend. But I'm excited to start this chapter of my life, with the love of my life and the most wonderful man I know.
