In the dead of night, Martha, my loyal housekeeper, slipped into the room and gasped at the sight of me, battered and bruised. "Nina, are you okay? Did Alpha Ethan do this? How could he be so heartless?" Behind her stood a healer she'd secretly called in. "Don't worry, Nina," Martha said, her voice trembling. "I got you a healer. We'll make sure you don't scar, on your face or anywhere else." After the guards left, the housekeepers had quietly brought in the healer to tend to my face.
