My Brother's Best Friend

The First Night

The boys dropped me back off at my dorm around 8. I walked upstairs and heard laughing coming from our room. I walked inside to see my dorm room door open with the tv on.

“I hope you don’t mind we turned the tv on to find a movie to watch” Said Hailey. She had a nervous look take over her face. Of course I didn’t mind, it is exactly what I wanted to do tonight and she was letting me use her mini fridge she brought so it was only fair she would get a share of the tv.

“Of course not, what were you guys thinking of watching?” I asked.

“Well nothing now! You need to tell us about the boys that were here earlier!” said Bridget.

“The oldest one with the dark hair is my brother. I have two older brothers that go here. Eric was the one helping me move in. I apologize he didn’t tell me he was having his pledges help me, or should I say get him out of helping me.” I replied.

“Wait, you have two brothers, is the other one just as good looking?” Stacy asked

I laughed and prepared myself for their reactions. “He is on the football team, but Eric, invited us to his party tomorrow night if you guys are interested.”

“I don’t know what to react to first.” said Stacy.

We spent the rest of the night talking about high school. Past relationships and what not. The girls were surprised when I said I had never been in one. To get the awkward over with, I told them about Matthew. I told them about the boating accident the day before he was supposed to leave. He was out with his friends playing around with the wake board. He was doing tricks and got caught up in the rope. When they got him up he wasn't breathing, when the coast guard got to the boat he was already gone. It was a freak accident, even yet I haven’t touched the wakeboard since.

The Girls were really quiet, Hailey put her hand on my shoulder. “If you ever need anyone to talk to, you know you can always talk to us.” She said.

We changed the topic to lighter conversion. Hailey told us about her boyfriend back home. Bridget and Stacy gave her a hard time in a playful way about keeping a long distance relationship while in school. We started to discuss what we were doing tomorrow. Hailey decided to tag along with Riley and I in the morning. I was relieved, I didn’t want to be alone with Riley, I feel awkward and she will help make things more laid back. I like Hailey. She has a calming yet upbeat attitude. Something about her just gravitates me to her.

It was midnight when we all decided to go to bed. After washing my face, brushing my teeth and changing into my Pjs I climbed on up in my bed. One bonus about having older siblings is they told me what to bring. I had a long charging cord so I could plug my phone in and keep it in my loft bed. I would have never thought of that. I opened my messages. I had one from Jennifer asking about my day with a picture of my niece. The other two were from Eric with the information for tomorrow night's party. I responded to Jennifer’s message telling her it was a successful day and that I missed her. I liked Eric’s message.

I then went to compose a new message to Riley. Hey I am thinking about heading to the gym then book store around 8 tomorrow. Let me know if you still want to come with. My roommate is going to join us as well. Hope that is ok! This is Lucy by the way. Immediately after sending the message the three bubbles popped up showing he was responding. Sounds good to me. I'll meet you guys on the main level. Hope your dinner was good. I set my alarm for 7:30 on my phone. I responded to Riley’s Message. Sounds good, I click my phone screen off and put my phone under my pillow. My phone vibrates. Goodnight beautiful see you in the morning. My apple watch reads.
