I hand her the takeouts and go to the trunk of the truck to bring out the rest of the stuff I brought along with us. I packed them up when she was sleeping in the day.
I bring out the blanket and cushions for sitting or sleeping if she takes a nap. I also bring out the ice cooler and the basket of snacks and goodies.
Her eyes widen as I bring them to where she’s standing.
“wow. When did you plan all these?” she asks.
“while you were napping.” I tell her. she’s pretty surprised and that fills me with happiness because my whole goal was to wow her and make her goddamn happy and give her such a great night that she’ll see me for something more and then we can go on from there.
