CHAPTER 3 WILLA'S POV I knocked on the door, my heart racing with anticipation. The familiar voice from inside called out, "Come in." I pushed open the door and stepped inside, my eyes scanning the room. The office was just as I had left it, the same furniture, the same books on the shelves. But one thing caught my attention - my picture was still hanging on the wall. My gaze drifted to the figure behind the desk, and my breath caught in my throat. Damian looked...different. Good different. His hair styled differently, his eyes, although undressing me, were pulling. 'Focus Willa. Focus willa.' I sang my mantra over and over in my head. "Damian?" I called, breaking the silence. He looked up from his desk and I noticed how he froze immediately. He stood up abruptly, almost falling his seat in the process. I saw how his eyes roamed my body and he swallowed hard. I was tempted to let this last longer but I shouldn't be out long else, Diane figures things out. "Damian?" I called again. But he still didn't respond. I smirked and allowed him have a fill of his eyes before speaking again. "Ah! Close your mouth boy! You're drooling." I bet the sarcasm in my husky voice couldn't be missed. "Willa!" He called unable to hide his shock. "The one and only." I said, giving him my best smile. "You're the last person I expected to see." "I know. But that isn't enough reason to not offer me a seat, is it?" "My apologies. Please, sit." I nodded and sat in front of him still maintaining eye contact and keeping my smile. For a moment, we sat in silence. I didn't know what was running through his mind, but I knew mine. He’s different. Very different. Bolder, hotter, and definitely hotter. His lips were...forget it, Willa! Pull yourself together. "I do not have all day and I know you're a busy person so can we stop this staring contest and get down to why I'm here?" "I'm sorry. To what do I owe this pleasant visit?" He asked after regaining his composure. "Oh, Damian! My visit is anything but pleasant." I watched as his face fell and his expression darkened. "Why are you here Willa?" The friendliness in his voice had disappeared. " You didn't get the email?" His brows furrowed. "Email? What E-" A notification sound came from his laptop, and his fingers flew across the keyboard. His expression darkened, and his voice dropped to a low growl. "You can't be serious, Willa. What is the meaning of this? What in the world is the meaning of this? Explain it to me." His hands were shaking with rage as he read through the email again, making sure he wasn't misunderstanding. But the words were clear as day: I, Willa, his ex-wife, was suing for full custody of our children. I felt a wave of nausea wash over me as I looked up at him, my smug expression only fueling his anger. I was enjoying this, so much. "What does it look like? I'm taking My kids back." "You have got to be kidding. You're joking." He yelled. My smile never wavered. "Do I look like I'm joking, Damian?" I asked, my tone icy. "Or did you think I came here to stare at your face?" "My lawyer is going to have a field day with this. You won't know what hit you, Willa." He threatened. I bet he could see the amusement in my eyes as I spoke. "I'm shaking in my boots, Damian. You don't scare me. I came prepared." His anger boiled over I could see it, but he forced himself to remain calm. He knew that I was trying to provoke him, to get him to say or do something that would give me the upper hand. He took a deep breath, his eyes locked on mine. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect my children, Willa. Whatever it takes." My laughter rang out. "We'll see about that, won't we?" I said, my voice dripping with malice. He doesn't know what's coming to him. * * * * * Okay! I knew this would feel good but not this good. I got the desired effect on him. Maybe more. I couldn't help the laugh that came out as I recalled the look of shock and desire on Damian's face. "Really? This wasn't what we agreed on Willa." "Oh! Diane? I didn't here you come in." "How would you? You were so caught up in your world. I take it all went well?" "Oh yes! It did! It went so well. You needed to see the..... "Still, it wasn't what we agreed on. The deal was to send him the email, wait for him to contact us and the first meeting with him would be in court." Oh! Diane is my lawyer and friend. "I just couldn't resist." " And don't tell me you went to see him wearing just that." "What's wrong with it?" "What's wr-are you serious? It's short and revealing and... "And seductive." I completed. "Yes! Seductive." "That's why it's so great." "It'll be great if you had the intention of getting him back. Wait! Do you plan on.... "Not in this life, not in the next life. I'd rather marry a pig." I said, as a rush of anger suddenly overcame me. "You remember the pain I had to suffer because of how he hurt me. I came this far for revenge and I won't let anything stop me. That's why I want to take the kids. So nothing holds me back." "But you do know he's not going to sit back and just let you take them. He's going to fight you. He'll fight you hard. You know how he is." "I wouldn't bother coming if I wasn't ready for him. Let him come at me with all he has, I have enough to hit back and I intend to hit hard."
