The entire drive home, I kept thinking about the fact Anthony’d been jealous when Ethan had shown some physical affection toward me. Ethan and I were like that. Just hugs and the occasional brush of fingers. His touches never lingered. I had the distinct impression I wasn’t his type. And even if I were, we had a professional relationship we had to maintain. He visited us frequently—which was wonderful. I was certain his shows encouraged people to visit him at the bookstore when he did signings there. He must have one planned for Christmas—likely a big time of year for him. We fed the babies, and they settled down for a nap. All the morning’s adventures must’ve worn them out.
