Meeting the leadership team.

“Gabriel, what’s happening? I’m worried about you,” Lila whispered, her voice barely audible. Her words were enough to trigger Zeus, who whimpered, ashamed of frightening his mate. Gabriel closed his eyes and took a deep breath, willing himself to regain control. When he opened his eyes again, they returned to his distinctive topaz colour. Closing the gap between him and Lila, he embraced her with all his body, seeking comfort in her presence. At that moment, the door swung open, and Matthew, Thomas, his father, and his mother entered, responding to his urgent call for help. Gabriel quickly turned towards them, putting Lila behind him, his instincts taking over as he snarled at the intruders. His tense posture and fierce expression showed the struggle to contain Zeus. “Gabriel,” his father bellowed, “what is the meaning of this? You sent a mind link, and you were obviously in distress, and now you treat us like the enemy?” Gabriel’s heart pounded in his chest as he took a deep breath, his senses on high alert. He repositioned himself in front of Lila, assuming a protective stance, his muscles tense with anticipation. “Your entrance startled me, that’s all,” he said, looking down, embarrassed at how he had reacted to the sudden intrusion. Thomas saw Gabriel’s protective behaviour towards the she-wolf and understood. He took a tentative step forward, his voice barely above a whisper. “Luna?” He bowed his head in reverence, acknowledging the significance of the situation. Finally, he understood why he wanted to protect her and was drawn to her. Matthew, however, looked at Thomas as if he were crazy, confusion furrowing his brow. “Dude, who are you talking to? And what are you talking about? Gabriel has not found our Luna,” he asked, clearly puzzled. Gabriel took a sidestep, revealing whom he was shielding with his protective stance. Matthew gave him a curious look, his curiosity piqued. Gabriel took a deep breath, steadying himself for the conversation that was about to unfold. “Sit down, you three,” he said in a severe tone. “We need to talk.” The tension in the room was intense, as the weight of the situation hung heavily in the air, leaving everyone on edge. The atmosphere was tense and charged. Lila, his mate, the pack’s future Luna, remembered being held captive by Alpha Victor of the Blood Moon pack. Her story was chilling, filled with fear, pain, and suffering. The leadership of Moondance needed to be made aware so they could take action. Matthew and Thomas sat down, and Gabriel pulled Lila to sit on his knees. She seemed tiny but fitted perfectly on his knees and against his chest. It was as if the moon goddess made her, especially for him. He needed to take in her scent to calm himself. And he wanted her to know that he was there for her. She had shared her memories with him, and now she would share them with others. Lila took a deep breath and looked around the room, taking in the faces of the Moondance leadership team. Matthew and Thomas sat opposite them, and Markus, Gabriel’s father, stood by the window, crossing his arms over his chest. Gloria, who accompanied Markus, was close to him. Lila began, her voice steady but tinged with emotion. “They took me captive when I was just fifteen years old. My mom and I were on our way to visit her sister. Alpha Victor and his warriors attacked us. They killed her, and they took me to their pack. They held me captive for six years.” The room was silent as Lila spoke, her words carrying the weight of her experiences. She continued, “There must have been some kind of magic. When I got to the pack, I wanted to escape, but quickly, I became complacent.” Lila paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before continuing. “My wolf never let me shift. Even with the Alpha urging me to shift, she never allowed it.” Gabriel took in her scent to calm himself; he rested his forehead on her head. She intuitively started drawing circles on his forearm, which seemed to help calm him down. “I’m not sure how it happened, but one day my wolf, Venus, told me to run, and I did.” Gabriel’s hand was on her back as she spoke, providing comfort and support. She looked up at him briefly before turning back to the rest of the room. “As soon as I crossed the pack perimeter, I lost all my memories… well, you know it. I couldn’t remember anything when you found me. Until last night,” Lila said. “The brief history: you guys found me, made me spend several days in your dungeon, blablabla.” She ended in a light tone, winking at Gabriel. She couldn’t stay angry with him no matter how hard she tried. She was putty in his hands, eyes, and chest. “Focus, Lila,” Venus offered to rein her in. Gabriel raised an eyebrow. Was she being cheeky with them? Wow, his mate just amazed him. Matthew spoke up, his voice measured and cautious. “Lila, I mean Luna… I can’t even understand what you’ve gone through. I’m just trying to make sense of all this.” Lila nodded, relieved that the Moondance leadership team was taking her seriously. Gabriel looked around the room. “We can’t let this go unanswered.” “I agree,” Matthew said, his voice low and firm. “We need to send a message to the Blood Moon pack. We will not tolerate their actions.” Thomas nodded in agreement. “But we need to be careful,” he warned. “We don’t want to start a war.” Lila, his Luna, captivated Thomas. Finally, Gabriel and the Moondance Pack have their Luna after all these years. Gabriel sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I know,” he said. “But we can’t let this slide. Lila suffered at the hands of that pack, and we need to make sure it never happens again.” His father, Markus, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. “Lila, how are you doing? What would you want? We have to take that into account in our decision.” Lila nodded, with tears in her eyes. “I’m not sure,” she replied while shrugging. Gabriel’s mother, Gloria, listened briefly before interrupting with a sharp, “You are all idiots.” Everyone turned to look at her, surprised by her sudden outburst. “Excuse me?” Gabriel asked, his eyebrows raised in confusion. “You heard me,” Gloria said, her voice calm but firm. “You think brute force is going to solve this? That’s not how it works. We need to play politics here. We must petition the elders to remove Victor from his alpha position.” Beta Matthew said, “But Gloria, we don’t have any evidence against Victor. We can’t just accuse him without Proof.” Gloria scoffed, “Proof? Do you need Proof that the sun rises in the east? That’s the problem with you young pups; always needing evidence and Proof. Sometimes you need to trust your instincts and take a risk.” Gamma Thomas nodded, “She’s right. We need to take action before it’s too late.” Gabriel’s father, Markus, who had been silent until now, spoke up, “But what about the consequences? If we accuse Victor without sufficient evidence, we risk starting a war with the Blood Moon pack.” Gloria sighed, “I’m not saying it will be easy, but we can’t just sit back and do nothing. We must stand for what is right, even if it’s difficult.” Gabriel looked at his mother with admiration. “You’re right, Mother. We can’t let Victor get away with this. We’ll petition the elders and do everything we can to remove him from his position.” Gloria smiled at her son, proud of his determination. “That’s my boy. I knew I raised you right.” Thomas, the Lunrotector, spoke up again. “But what about Lila? We need to make sure she’s protected.” Gloria nodded, “Of course. We’ll increase security around the Moondance pack and make sure Lila has a personal guard.” Markus took a deep breath and looked around at the faces of the Moondance leadership team. “Foremost, we need to gather evidence to present to the elders,” he said, his voice firm and authoritative. “We cannot simply go to them with gossip and speculation. We need concrete Proof that Victor is not fit to lead his pack.” Gabriel nodded in agreement. “I’ll contact some of my contacts in other packs and see if they have any information to help us.” Beta Matthew said, “I’ll speak with the other betas and see if they’ve heard anything about Victor’s behaviour. We need as many witnesses as possible to present to the elders.” Markus added, “I’ll look into the laws and regulations surrounding the removal of an Alpha. We need to make sure we have all our legal bases covered. I’ll leave for Toronto tomorrow morning to visit the library for supernaturals.” Gabriel nodded, pleased with their plans. “Good, these are all excellent starting points. But we must also be prepared because this won’t be an easy battle. Victor is a powerful Alpha and may have his supporters.”
