Summer evening.

The setting sun painted the sky in mesmerizing hues of orange and pink, casting a surreal glow over the pack’s gardens. After being confined to the dungeons and her hospital room, they finally granted the she-wolf access to this serene oasis. As she explored the gardens, her heart was heavy with worry. She couldn’t shake off the feeling of not remembering, of being lost in a fog of uncertainty. Her inner wolf remained calm and alert. With every step, her wolf searched for any familiar scents. The she-wolf watched as her wolf sniffed the air, ears perked and eyes darting around inquisitively. “I smell something,” her wolf spoke in her mind. “Something familiar. We’ve smelled it before. I just can’t remember when or where.” While her wolf was the calmest of the two of them, she was also frustrated. The she-wolf paused, her curiosity piqued. She was attuned to her wolf’s instincts and let her guide them through the garden. The scent grew stronger, pulling her deeper into the garden as if it held the key to unlocking her memories. Exploring every corner of the winding paths, they sought something to jog their memory. The beauty of the garden captivated the she-wolf. The vibrant colours of the flowers, the soothing rustle of the leaves, and the gentle kiss of the breeze against her skin brought a sense of solace to her troubled mind. “This smells like... home,” she whispered, a faint glimmer of recognition flickering in her eyes. Her wolf nodded in agreement, urging her to keep going. They eventually arrived at a tranquil pond nestled in a secluded alcove. The she-wolf’s heart skipped a beat as she gazed at the water, a distant memory tugging at her consciousness. “This place feels familiar,” her wolf mused. “Keep exploring. There might be more to it than meets the eye.” The she-wolf found a small bench and sat down, letting the garden's serenity envelop her. She felt a sense of peace settle over her as she listened to the symphony of nature around her. “This is a peaceful place,” she thought, feeling a glimmer of hope stir within her. “I feel safe here. At least, that’s a positive thing.” Her wolf offered her encouragement. “Remember this feeling. Hold on to it. We’ll need it in the days to come.” They sat there in silence, the she-wolf lost in her thoughts, determined to regain her memories and uncover her true identity. She wandered through the garden, admiring each flower and plant with renewed curiosity as if they held the answers she sought. As the evening sky turned darker, the she-wolf silently vowed to herself. She would not rest until she unravelled the mystery of her past. She looked ahead determinedly, hoping for the best as she pursued her quest for self-discovery. With its secrets and scents, the garden held the key to unlocking her memories, and she was determined to uncover the truth no matter what it took. ************** Gabriel stepped out of his office, his mind swirling with stress from the chaotic day. He hoped to clear his thoughts, so he took a deep breath and marvelled at the breathtaking sunset that painted the sky in shades of orange and pink. His inner wolf, Zeus, stirred within him, craving freedom and adventure in the pack’s lands. “Alright, buddy, let’s go for a run,” Gabriel spoke softly, his voice laced with longing. Zeus let out a joyful howl in response, and Gabriel quickly shed his clothes, leaving them hanging on a branch as he let his wolf take over. The transformation was exhilarating, his senses heightened, and his instincts sharpened. He sprinted through the trees quickly, his paws pounding against the earth below. Gabriel and Zeus communicated through their mind link as they ran, the connection between man and wolf solid. Gabriel felt a sense of liberation, a release from the stresses and worries plaguing him all day. “Feels good to let loose, doesn’t it?” Zeus spoke with excitement. Gabriel couldn’t help but smile, feeling a sense of freedom and abandonment that he hadn’t experienced in a while. “Yeah, it does. We should do this more often.” He had to admit that this was good for both of them. It helped them work through their frustration and tighten their bond. Zeus agreed, and they continued their run, navigating the terrain with ease and grace. Suddenly, Zeus caught a scent in the air, faint but intriguing. He followed it eagerly, with Gabriel close behind. As they approached the source of the scent, Gabriel heard the rustling of leaves and twigs. Zeus had detected a young rabbit munching on some leaves. Gabriel chuckled, amused by his wolf’s enthusiasm. “Really? You got all worked up over a rabbit?” Gabriel teased. Zeus huffed playfully, “Hey, you never know. It could have been something dangerous.” There it was, their traditionally light banter. This run did them well. Gabriel shook his head, feeling a warmth in his heart as he felt his wolf’s antics. They continued their run, the moon rising in the sky, but Gabriel felt a pull towards the hospital gardens. He couldn’t resist the urge to investigate. When he got to the pond, the she-wolf was sitting on a bench in the garden, looking vulnerable and peaceful. Something about the she-wolf attracted Gabriel, his curiosity and longing getting the best of him. He was taking in the sight of her sitting there with her eyes closed, her hair dancing in the gentle breeze. Gabriel was drawn to her, overwhelmed with fascination, intrigue, and a sense of connection. Gabriel took a deep breath, bracing himself for whatever lay ahead, as he approached her, eager to discover more. Zeus asked him, “Are you sure about this, Gabriel? We wouldn’t want to frighten her.” “I hear you, buddy, but the pull is too strong. Just please, let me go to her.” That was a first for them, Gabriel asking his wolf’s permission. Thankfully, he saw a pair of shorts and a t-shirt hanging from the branch of a nearby tree. Pack members shifted and left clothes everywhere. It was good for him tonight. He shifted back to his human form and put on the clothes. As she sat there, she heard footsteps approaching. She looked up and saw a man walking towards her. As he got closer, she realized it was Alpha Gabriel. She tensed up, unsure of what to expect from him. Gabriel’s heart ached for the amnesiac she-wolf as he felt her tense up at the sight of him. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but something about her pulled him in like a magnet. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” Gabriel said softly, his voice laced with concern. She was apprehensive about his presence. Gabriel could feel her tension, and he wished he could appease her. “It’s alright,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper but loaded with frustration. Gabriel sat on the bench beside her, deliberately leaving a respectful distance between them. He couldn’t help but notice how her eyes sparkled under the moon’s light, a fantastic blue that seemed to shift with every movement. He could sense her hesitance and trod lightly. “So, how are you feeling?” he asked, his voice gentle and genuine. She hesitated for a moment before sighing. “Okay, I guess. The doctor here has been taking good care of me. She’s very nice.” She looked up at him. There was something in her eyes. Something unspoken. Gabriel could see emotions in her eyes, but he wasn’t sure what they were. He didn’t want to push her, but he couldn’t help but ask, “Is something bothering you?” She sighed heavily, shaking her head. “I had an encounter with Thomas earlier today. He’s your Gamma, right?” Gabriel leaned forward, intrigued. “Yes, he is. What did he say to upset you?” “It’s not so much what he said, but that he mentioned that this Alpha Victor was saying I’m an escaped prisoner? Could it be true? Am I a criminal?” Her voice was steady but betrayed her worries. Gabriel’s heart broke for her. He knew she was struggling with her identity and how people perceived her. “I do not believe that you are a criminal,” he said firmly, hoping to reassure her. “We’ll figure things out. Dr. Cassandra has a plan to help with your memory, and I’m sure we’ll sort this out.” Despite his reassuring words, Gabriel couldn’t shake the feeling of conflict inside him. He couldn’t explain it, but something about her made his heart ache in a way he had never experienced. She looked up at him, her eyes searching his face for any signs of insincerity. “But what if everyone thinks I am a burden?” she asked. “Wouldn’t it be easier to let me be on my way? And out of your hair?” Gabriel shook his head. “Nobody thinks that.” He didn’t want her to feel the anger building in him. She wasn’t going anywhere. “Calm down, cowboy.” He could hear Zeus trying to reason with him. She nodded slowly, taking in his words and staring at him as if she perceived the turmoil inside him. “Sure, Alpha.” She said with skepticism. He smirked. This she-wolf had an attitude. “You know, if you ever need anything, just let me know,” Gabriel offered. He didn’t know what to say. He just knew he didn’t want to step away from her.
