CHAPTER 6: WHAT THE HEART YEARNS HOSPITAL. That was the first thing that entered Eisen's mind when he opened his eyes. The area was blinding because of the white wall, white ceiling, and white everything. It has been almost a week since the day he first woke up after his long sleep that felt like an eternity. It has been nearly a week, and he can't get his mind off of something. Yes, the woman. The woman kept on bothering his head, sending an unexplainable wave of energy through his veins. The face is familiar to him, but he can't even understand why he's been trying his best to remember her. The woman's face brought him faint memories, but when he touched her hand, his anger immediately finds its way to subside. He knew that what he felt and what his fuzzy memory dictates were way different from each other. Like she reminds him of someone, but she's not the one he should be remembering. And because of these unexplainable emotions built up inside him, he can't even determine if the memories, along with puzzling emotions, connect from the past or something related to his present and future. "Son, thank God you're already awake. Can you tell me how you feel?" The gorgeous woman in her 40's greeted him with a tray of healthy, delicious food. Eisen scanned the woman, who introduced herself as his mother, is smiling at him from ear to ear like everything's subtle and perfect. "I think I'm fine. When will I be discharged?" Eisen asked in a cold tone. He knew already that Eisen forgot his memories from the past since the doctor already explained it to him. Since the day he woke up, Eisen doesn't know what to respond to the persons in front of him. They told him that they are his family, which a part of him believed. "I'll ask the doctor later. Take a rest and call me when you need my help." But the woman wasn't able to take a step away when Eisen spoke, "The... The woman." Eisen paused for a moment, trying to find the right words to continue, but he looked dumb for not knowing what to say! "Nevermind." He answered and immediately closed his eyes, a sign to let his mother leave him alone. But soon as his eyes were closed, a blurred image of a woman wearing an oversized shirt in front of him is the first thing he saw. They were both laughing and cuddling on the couch while watching something. Eisen can't hear anything. It was like a video muted, and he can't even distinguish what they're talking about or who is the woman he's talking. He opened his eyes, trying to calm his senses. His heart is beating fast like a quick snap of a camera. He clenched his fist, and all the pain, anger, and unexplained emotions started to mask his appearance. All because of the woman in his visions! Eisen wasn't able to avoid asking himself about the woman with an undefined face. What happened in the past? Why can't he remember the woman's face? What did he do that he deserved all of this? He took a deep breath as he gazed deeply into the ceiling. Thanks to his injury, he couldn't leave the hospital and wander around the street to find some answers. There's this sudden feeling that keeps on bugging him, but he can't even see the courage to ask his parents. There's this fear building up inside him that Eisen wished to disappear entirely. Until, memories came back in Eisen's puzzled memory lane, a moment where Eisen's has to visit the hospital often because he always gets sick. Is this the reason why he's scared? Because he always visited the hospital when he's a kid? Eisen then attempted to move his hands to touch his head when he suddenly felt a writhe of pain in his elbow. His breathing grew faster as the pain creeps inside him. But the moment he rests it back beside him, the pain immediately subsided, making him a bit calm again. He heaves a deep sigh before he closed his eyes once again, praying that he would not dream about the faceless woman that keeps on bothering him. Including the woman he just met a few days ago. Because the more he thinks about it, the painful it gets in his heart. And he can't handle the pain, not before remembering everything from the past. __________ HIS sleep was then interrupted when he heard constant murmurs not far away from him. It sounded like a bee or insect at first, so he didn't bother to shoo it away. But when he started to get irritated because the buzzing sound keeps getting on his nerves, he opened up his eyes and was about to shoo it away and saw the light was closed, but somebody might've forgotten that the light in the kitchen was on. He thought it was just part of his dreams or something from the past, but when he saw Lewis, and her mom stood from the kitchen doorway, he realized that something was different. Something doesn't feel good at all. They were both seriously talking to each other, and Eisen can't stop himself from eavesdropping on their whispered conversation. "15 weeks is the estimated time before his injuries could heal, so he'll be staying here in the Philippines for three months. By that time, he'll be ready to go back." He wanted to ask about what they're talking about, but 15 weeks? Will he be like a disabled man for three months? And what does his brother mean by saying that he'll be ready to go back? "Are you sure with your plan, son?" his brain started to mess up with him again after hearing what his mother asked Lewis. Plan? What plan are they talking about each other? Are they hiding something from him? "Yes. If this is the only way to save him, then so be it. I can't afford to see him broken, maman. And once he gains back his memory, I will kill the person behind all this. Just make sure the island is ready." He wasn't able to hear what Lewis said when something occupied his mind. And Lewis then lowered his voice when he spoke, maybe noticing that he's already awake. "Don't worry about it, Lewis, because it's already done. But I'm worried about her. Will she be all right with this? We both know that—" whispers started to turn like nothing but thin silence. Eisen can't understand anything that his brother and mother are talking about, and he's starting to get irritated with it. Now he's convinced that they are hiding something from him. Could it be he's not a part of their family, and these creepy dandies kidnap him for ransom? Or will they sell his organs and ship them to different countries? "Yes, mom. She agreed. She's our only hope now." "Lewis-" he can't take it anymore! Their whispered voice irritates him so much that he can't take another disturbing beelike sound that disturbed his sleep! "What are you talking about back there? Can't you see that I'm sleeping?!" he irritatedly shouted, wanting to slam something below them. It may not be polite to hear, but he doesn't care! After the accident that caused him to forget his past, it was hard for him to trust anyone. "How long have you been awake, brother?" Lewis worriedly asked as he stood right beside where he was lying down. He looks deep into his eyes as if reading his expression. "Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something wrong, Eisen?" Eisen thought that staring deep into his brother's eyes would give him answers. But all he saw is the sincerity that his eyes hold and the tiredness he managed to hide. He diverted his attention toward the ceiling. For unknown reasons, he can't meet his brother in the eyes because of hard to understand and hard to explain. He knew that something is going on, but he needs to play along so he will be able to learn something that he's sure that his own family is hiding away from him. "Am I leaving this place soon?" he asked, trying to break the ice between them. "Tomorrow. You'll be moving into your house. But please be good while you're there because you'll be living with someone else." His brows furrowed at Lewis's statement. He'll be able to leave the hospital, but whom is he living? "What? Do you mean to say I got to live in a house with someone who also owns the house? Is that an apartment? Dorm? Condominium? I thought we're rich?" Lewis heartily laughed at his statement. What? Is there something wrong with his question? "Don't worry, brother. I can assure you that you'll be in good hands." He tapped him on the shoulder before turning his back away from him. "Are you... are you having a nice rest?" he unconsciously asked, making Lewis look back at him. "You look like you could use some rest." "Now that you mentioned it, I think I have never had a long rest since maybe last week?" Their conversation sounded acceptable to Eisen. But he can't understand why his brother and mother are conspiring against him. Or are they plotting to take him down? And now that he thinks about it, the person living tomorrow is a part of their plan. __________ EISEN cant find the right word to describe what he sees right now. They already arrived at the place where he would be staying, and you won't believe what he sees right now. It was a freaking perfect house in the middle of an island standing in the middle of nowhere! The exterior design was magnificent. The place was grand and very luxurious. It looks like a newly built place with high maintenance. Lewis then started pushing the wheelchair towards the house as soon as they got out from the private chopper owned by the St. Clair's. Eisen can't help his jaw figuratively drop on the floor as he takes in the beauty of the place. Tall trees and white sand covered the area. The sun up above them reflected the deep blue sea, sending a crystal-like glow on the shallow. But even if the place was the perfect description of paradise, his heart was still beating fast, nervousness taking him over. "Is this the house?" he asked as they approach the front door. He can't believe that a perfect place like this is hiding beneath the depth of the island. "Yes. three years ago, this house was purchased by you." Lewis answered, making him almost gasp in surprise. Did he buy this house? But why would he purchase a home in the middle of an isolated place? "You said to yourself that you wished to stay in a house in the middle of an island covered with water because you love watching the waves of the ocean." "Really? I purchased a house three years ago, and the reason behind it is because I wanted to watch the ocean waves?" he asked as he can't believe what Lewis told him. Did he purchase a house because of the ocean waves? Why? "I know it's weird, but trust me, you have your reasons for that. And I was hoping you would be able to remember it." concern and sadness filled Lewis's voice as they continued to approach the entrance of the house. He never thought that it would take them long before they finally reach home. "And that is one of the reasons why I wanted you to stay here. Because this place was your haven." And before Eisen could answer, the door of the house slide open, revealing a woman wearing a plain blue shirt and black pants that tightly hugged her lower body. His brows furrowed as he tried to recognize her. "You're already here!" the woman shouted as she threw her hands in the air, waving at the two of them. YOU? He wanted to say, but he was caught off-guard because of her presence. What is she doing on the island? Could it be? And when Lewis stopped pushing the wheelchair, they came face-to-face with the woman who led his mind into chaos. The woman who brought destruction into his messed up mind. "Hi, Eisen. Welcome home."
