CHAPTER 17, part II: I DREAMT ABOUT YOU
"Eisen!" Jade hurriedly closed the gap between her and Eisen as her knees voluntarily succumb to the floor as her hands made their way into his face.
A mixture of skepticism and anguish masked her feature when Eisen scrunched up his face on the ground, his back hunched as he squirms in discomfort.
It didn't bother her how she looked, knowing that she's just wearing a towel to cover her bareness because the only thing Jade could think of is Eisen. Jade couldn't stop her heart from rising on her chest while scanning for any injury that had taken place when the questionable accident happened.
"Eisen, talk to me. Please," she begged, trying to keep herself steady and concocted, trying to avoid screaming out of panic. Her hands began to tremble with fear when the accident took place.
Before, in the same position, she tried to save him from dying because of the accident, which made Eisen unable to remember. And she started seeing blood as the pressure of anxiety ruined her.
But before darkness could eat her system, she forced herself to focus on Eisen's situation by trying to calm him down, "Can you tell me where it hurts?"
But instead of answering, the young man remained silent as he closed his eyes tightly. Eisen seemed to be in no condition to talk to her, but Jade needs to know so that she'll be able to treat him better, "I need you to try to talk to me, Eisen. Let me know what happened so-"
The adrenaline rush pumped in like the engine of a fast-moving car, and Jade started to get worried. She wasn't able to finish her sentence when Eisen's hand reached for hers, resting on his chest, and intertwined his fingers on her. Eisen seemed to calm down when the wrinkles on his forehead started to fade away.
And on that moment, his heart slowly turned into an average pace while still holding onto her tightly. Slowly, he opened his eyes and searched for Jade's gaze before locking eye contact with her. Jade felt her cheeks seethes with fluster as her eyes didn't leave his.
"Please tell me that you're alright now," Jade whispered with worry as she clenched her fist, still on Eisen's grip. But instead of hearing a response, the young man nodded his head and firmly closed his eyes before opening them again to meet hers for the second time.
"Help me up, please," Eisen's words almost sounded like a whisper but enough for Jade to hear. So she stood up from the floor as she assisted Eisen into standing up.
However, as soon as they stood up, Jade wasn't able to remember that she's wearing nothing underneath the towel wrapped above her breast and continued to help Eisen. And in the most unexpected moment, the towel slipped open on her skin, making her gasp in horror.
In a split second, Jade let go of Eisen to catch the towel. But the man was faster when he grabs the towel and instantly wrapped it around Jade's body, making sure that she'll not be seen naked unwillingly.
For the second time, Jade gasped when she felt his strong arms wrapped against her shoulders along with the towel that almost uncovers everything that she's trying to hide. Her heart is on the verge of exploding, and the last thing she wanted to happen is to make an embarrassing moment in front of Eisen, knowing that he's near her and her heart is beating like a madwoman!
"Eisen-"
"Nightmare. I dreamt about a horrendous experience-" Eisen took a moment to continue as he let Jade go, finding herself wrapped on her towel, finally covering her nakedness. Eisen then stepped backward and caressed her cheeks, needing to feel her skin against his. "-and it left me confused because you were there, running away from me."
__________
JADE did not know what to do. She wanted to leave the young man alone so that she could escape from his curious stares that made her uneasy. Her hands were still on Eisen's while he settles onto the bed. As for her, she's still wearing the towel earlier because Eisen has no intention of letting her go. But when she felt the young man's hands tremble slightly, Jade decided to settle with him for a moment until he calmed down.
"Would you like to tell me about it?" She began, wanting to know what Eisen's nightmare is all about. Jade has a feeling that that nightmare is not just some part of a dream but belongs to his reality that he confused it as a nightmare.
"I was with a man in a bar. I was constantly drinking, and I felt drunk. I can still taste the bittersweet flavor of the beer. The aroma sticks into my nose, and my hands were burning because of the beer's cold temperature. I can feel everything; even it was just a dream. And there, in my dreams, I am certain that it was you who I saw." Eisen began his story without taking his eyes away from her. He was gripping onto her tightly, afraid even to let her loose.
Suddenly a tremor welled up in Jade's chest when she heard what the young man said. He dreamed of her, and the young man's story matched what happened when they first met. Jade knew that this day would come. That all of the things she wished for him not to know will be the end game of everything. Of all things that he needed to remember, why should be the painful ones keep on popping up?
It was not just a nightmare. It was Eisen's reality, his past that dressed like a nightmare wanting to hunt him down.
Could he remember everything? That he is not his real wife?
"Y-you saw me? Did you hear my voice? Tell me what you saw. I want to know everything," she asked with a ruptured voice and trembling lips, wanting to know what had happened in his dream. Jade is starting to get scared as a question kept on running on the back of her head, 'What if it already knows everything?'
Jade filled her head with various questions when a strange flow of electricity trickled in her heart. It seems that what is happening in her system does not want to be registered because of the emotion.
"I don't remember hearing anything... However, I remember someone calling me. I recognize the voice of the man who called me, but I can't remember who. He sounded hysterical and angry at some point. He-" Eisen stopped in mid-sentence as his eyes didn't leave her's. Jade wanted to know what the man Eisen is talking about told him in his dream. What made it more suspicious is that the young man diverted his attention away from her and cleared his throat.
A sign that doesn't assure Jade if Eisen already remembers something where she and the young man is related.
"It was just a dream, yet it feels like it actually happened before. I can feel it against my skin everything that had happened that day, " Jade scanned the young man's feature, looking for affirmation in his gaze that he didn't remember her as the woman who let the possibility for the accident to happen. But all she could collect from the look on his face are apprehension, trepidation, stupefaction, and bewildering feelings. And he seeks for it-everything he wanted to know.
"You told me that you saw me in your dream," Jade's words came out as a whisper but enough for Eisen to understand and respond to her remarks.
"I saw you inside the bar. You were trying to run away from me. I tried to chase after you, and then, everything went blank after that." At that moment, Jade was able to breathe as she pursed her lips before asking him again appropriately.
"Would you like me to talk to your brother? I will send him a message if that'll make you more comfortable," Jade wanted nothing more but for Eisen to rest suitably. And if Lewis will give him peace of mind, then she'll do whatever it takes to make Lewis travel back to the island for Eisen's peace of mind.
Jade was about to get up from the bed to pick up her phone in the other room when Eisen held her wrist tightly, signifying that he would not allow her to leave the room.
"No." The young man's eyes were firm as his touch was pleading as if he was about to cry in front of her. His word was like a spell, stopping her from getting up and calling for help. Eisen sounded like he was hers and would never allow her to leave. "Stay with me until I calm down. That's the only thing I would ask of you. So, please, listen to me this once."
Jade would have liked to object. She wanted to take the opportunity to talk to Lewis so she could inform him about Eisen's condition wherein a memory of that night showed up as a nightmare to him. Because Jade is scared of the idea that any time soon, Eisen would remember everything, and she would not be prepared to handle all the pain that comes along with it.
But when she felt the young man's warm palm tighten her grip on her, Jade decided to stay by her side. She just can't. She can't leave Eisen, not because she didn't want to anger him but because it felt right to stay beside him. It felt favorable to be by his side.
"That's the reason why you fell from your bed?" full of concern, and Jade asked the young man. Eisen intently gawked at her while his back rested on the headboard of the bed.
But instead of responding to his question, the young man leaned forward and curiously stared deeper at her. If Eisen's gaze could melt her in one sitting, Jade would've turned into a liquid by now and evaporated in an instant.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" It's not that she's uncomfortable at his gaze. The issue is that his stare was like a fire that ignited something inside her. The look in his eyes was slowly turning into a deadly desire who can slowly devour its prey.
"Some men abstain themselves from doing things they don't wish to do to their lovers forcefully, Jade. And I have done my fair share of stopping myself from doing things a husband should've done with his wife."
"Eisen," she didn't know what to say. Her heart started pumping in rapid motion, taking her back to the feeling like a time bomb planted on her heart.
"This," without hesitation, Eisen grabbed the selvage of the towel wrapped around Jade's body, causing her to forcefully move closer to him, which made her hands land on his chest to maintain a little bit of distance between them.
His deep blue eyes burn with desire as Jade's hands on his chest became more solemn as it sinks deeper against him. She wanted to push him hard, but she ended up not doing anything but to stare back, letting Eisen drink her gaze into his. He was a cold-hearted demon no more. Because at that moment, he was burning and in desperate need of fuel to intensify the blaze he possesses.
And without taking into consideration, it was too late for Jade to react when Eisen suddenly reached for her neck as he pulled her closer to him, closing the distance between them. In just a blink of an eye, her lips crashed against his soft lips, leaving her breathless and static. Eisen's hand delicately massaged her nape as their lips remained unmoved against each other.
Everything happened so fast that time seemed to stop around them. In an instant, Eisen's lips taste Jade's lips as blood rushed upon her cheeks. The cold breeze that was cowering inside the room suddenly changed when her body felt a burning sensation inside her.
Jade did not know what to do. She can move neither her body nor even her fingers to push Eisen away from her. She could not respond. It was as if the young man's lips were a form of a drug that can bring out the madness inside of her. Something addictive, defying. Hard to escape, hard to avoid.
Jade has kissed a man before. It is something that she's knowledgeable about. But the mere problem is that Eisen's lips brushing off hers made her feel like it was her first time to be kissed intimately. She's acting like a first-timer who has no idea about kissing and f*****g and lots of it after. She never knew that just a touch of his lips would make her stomach flutter and her heart hammer.
Jade wanted to give in. Little by little, she wanted to taste him, as she will let him taste her. But as soon as Jade remembered who she really was and what she needed to do, Jade shockingly opened her eyes and was about to push the young man away; when she felt Eisen's lips slowly move to caress his lips, the woman's heartbeat quickened.
"Eisen," Jade shudder as Eisen's hand teasingly massaged her nape as his other hand delicately caressed her bare legs. Every move became a rhythm of her every heartbeat. The gentle movement of Eisen's lips on her was enough to stop Jade's breathing. Her heart was pounding like a bomb that would explode in a few minutes. It was like someone fed her with butterflies that went straight to her stomach, sending a strange tickle to her system. Her body felt a peculiar flow of electricity that revived her femininity.
Her mind screams her absolute position in the situation that she's just a replacement where she gets paid by Lewis to do the supposed to be Eisen's real wife's work, Alicia. And she should push the man away and pretend like nothing happened because it was a kiss supposed to be indulged by the real MRS. ST. CLAIR.
And before Jade could have the opportunity to push Eisen for the second time, Eisen already stopped kissing her and lightly pushed her away from him. The young man painfully looked at her in the eyes, not saying anything at all.
The beating of her heart didn't settle even just for a second. But in an instant, her soul felt complete. And that there was nothing wrong with her for feeling such emotion, such desire towards someone. Jade wanted to experience it again, even if it was just a temporary tryst that will end up soon.
Jade wanted to be selfish for herself, even just for once.
For a moment, Jade wanted to dive back into his touch and let his hands feel every inch of her boundaries. She wanted the feeling of his skin against her, brushing and creating friction that ignites the flame inside them. For once, even just this time, Jade craved to burn herself with the desire to love and to be loved by someone who Jade intended to avoid and let go of. She wanted everything about Eisen.
And whatever consequences there may stand, she'll be ready for everything. She will be.
"Jade." She looked straight into the young man's eyes and saw the reflection, something she didn't expect. Eisen immediately let go of the selvage of the towel and bitterly smiled at her, "I wanted to know if you miss being intimate with me... And here I am, not expecting you to tremble too much."
"What?"
"You don't trust me. Your heart was beating too fast that it made me want to get mad at you for being like that. You are scared whenever I touch you. I get the reason now. I am not the one who claimed your heart. Yet here you are," Eisen grabbed Jade's hand and rested it on his chest. "Still owning what was supposed to be mine alone."
Jade felt his heart beating, sending rhythmic waves of electricity that serenade's her ears. It was like a connecting path between him and hers that made through her heart. It was like Eisen and Jade's made for each other from the beginning.
However, they are not.
