Livia’s POV
Was this the same man we discussed about our wedding and future? What was he doing with my best friend?
“Livia, you didn't tell me you were coming.” That was the next annoying statement that escaped from his mouth.
“I guess I almost killed myself for a stupid surprise.” I cussed.
“Sorry about this babe, I didn't expect you to find out about us this way.” Pamela curled her lips with an achieving smile on her face.
“What do you mean?” I asked in irritation.
“Well…” she placed her manicured hands on Davon’s chest. “Your man and I have been in a serious s****l relationship for a long time… I'm sorry about this, Livia.” I doubted if she was sorry because she was obviously mocking me.
“Yeah, I couldn't believe I was about to spend my forever with a man who doesn't deserve it.” I snorted.
“Livia, it's not what you think, and believe me. Men cheat. I can explain this and I still love you.” He rambled with no emotions and I smirked.
I assumed I was so foolish all this while. How come I didn't know about their affair all this while?
“It could be anyone but not my best friend, Davon.” I rolled my eyes away from him and faced Pamela, a sad smile formed on my face. No matter how I tried to look cheerful, I just couldn't.
“Thank you so much for taking a burden and trash bag out of my life,” I informed her curtly and her jaw dropped. Davon groaned.
“What are you saying?” Pamela asked in annoyance.
“Because he isn't worth my tears nor my time. I'm done here.” I threw the engagement ring on the floor, the ring I had held onto all these years and the siege in my life.
It was finally over.
“I want my part of the apartment fee in my account before the end of today,” I said seriously and without another word, I stormed out of the apartment.
“Wait!” I heard his voice from behind but I didn't heed it.
All these years, he deceived and used me and the welcome gift he felt was befitting for me was having s*x with my best friend in our own apartment.
“This is crazy!” I shook my head, trying not to cry as I rushed down the stairs.
“Livia!” His voice followed me but I didn't look back.
I was abruptly hindered by a broad chest that I crashed into. I cleaned my eyes, lifted my gaze, and was greeted by a magnificent figure.
He was dazzling gorgeous, his sharp aqua-brown eyes pierced into mine, filled with interest as I swallowed hard on nothing. He had broad shoulders, perfectly primped chestnut brown hair, and was muscular, he could be mistaken for a demigod because of his beauty.
The sound of Davon's footsteps coming from the stairs echoed in my ears and I quickly rummaged through my handbag. The man's eyes were fixed on me until I brought out the object from my bag.
It was meant for Davon to renew our vow but he had proved not to deserve anything good - not even me.
“Marry me.” I urged the man with my eyes as a small smirk formed on his lips. Surprisingly, he stretched out his hand.
“I will marry him.” I was so shocked to believe that he agreed just like that without asking about anything. Hastily, I wore him the ring and smiled.
“Livia! What the fûck are you doing?” Davon's raging voice filtered into the air as we faced him. For some reason, his face poured.
“Boss?” He looked surprised at the sight of the man standing before me.
I couldn't believe I had just proposed to his boss!
“What's going on here? Livia, we need to talk.” Davon swallowed hard, looking flabbergasted but I shook my head.
“Sorry man. I have a date with my husband.” I said seriously, locking arms with the strange man. Davon looked furious.
“Boss, what are you doing in my apartment?” Davon tried to sound polite even though he wasn't in the right mood.
“Do I have to explain my schedule to you?” The man snorted.
“As you can see, I just got married and must discuss further with my bride.” He shunned Davon seriously.
We attempted to leave when Davon grabbed my arm, looking desperate.
I knew he was gripping to the last hope he had between us. He needed me for life support because, without me, he wouldn't be able to maintain the apartment or feed himself.
With my job, I was helping him both with connections and everything he wanted. He wasn't just losing a partner but losing an important figure in his life. Even at the last minute, he wanted me for what he gained from me - not love.
“Please, let's talk.” He whispered.
“Not anymore.” I shoved his hand away and went out of the villa with the strange man.
I didn't know who he was or where he was taking me but I just wanted to be far away from anything that had to do with Davon.
He took me to a luxurious bar and we went straight to the VIP section, where I requested alcoholic drinks to drown myself. I didn't think I could be sane at this state, after what I had undergone.
Everyone knew about our relationship, I had devoted both my time and money to this relationship but in the end, I was used and humiliated.
“I know this isn't the right time to ask what's going on but I need to know…” He cleared his throat and I stared at him, already feeling tipsy.
“What's going on and how are you connected to Mr. Davon?” He questioned calmly and I laughed.
The name “Davon” not only annoyed me but reminded me of how stupid I had been all these years.
“Him?” I scoffed.
“Yes, I need to know your relationship with him.” He nodded.
“He is just some scum who I had been fooling around with until today felt like the right time to end everything.” I rashly spilled, gulping the drink.
“I would take that as an ex stuff.” He sighed.
“He isn't worth being called an ex. I mean, no responsible man would cheat on their fiance, right?” I exhaled, facing the man again.
“What do I lack? Am I not beautiful? Am I horrible?” I was slowly running insane.
“It's his loss.” His words soothed me for some reason and was something I really wanted to hear.
“I know. It's his loss and I would never forgive him for what he has done. He must pay for it with his life.” I said seriously.
“And what about this ring? Did you really mean what you said or you did that just to cover up?” He asked, flashing the ring at my face. Somehow, the ring fitted him as if it was meant for him.
“I mean it, I'm getting married to you… and you now have lots of benefits since you are related to him.” I said seriously and rather than affection, it was determinism that oozed from me.
“That's good.” I just couldn't tell why he was charming and willingly accepting my wild idea when he didn't know me.
Lust got the best out of me and I knew what my body wanted at a time like this. I found myself flinging my hand across his shoulder.
“How about a little reward for your support?” I asked flirtatiously, biting my lips.
I had already gotten him because of the way his eyes suddenly turned sexy.
“Are you sure about this?” He muttered, pulling his face closer to mine.
I could never be so ready to ravish my ex-fianceè's boss.
