Chapter 5

Livia’s POV “What is….” I hadn't finished my statement when the animal before me transformed and shaped into a human. My eyes followed the legs until they dropped at a familiar face and my jaw dropped almost at the same time. “Lyon?” Was this a dream or something? When did everything take place and why did the animal turn to Lyon? He approached me but I was too scared to stay at that place, I continued walking backward until my back was pinned on the wall. “Livia…” he called my name. “Please, stop. Don't come any closer.” I shunned him curtly, trying not to conclude what was running wild in my head. “It's not what you…” he was still attempting to explain the situation to me but I was so confused, scared, and infuriated. I didn't want to hear any word that came out of his mouth, he was a beast! A scary animal. “I… I will just leave.” I gathered my clothes and clustered them on my chest, advancing to the exit when he grabbed my arm and the clothes fell to the ground. Thankfully, the towel was tightly tied around my chest else I would have accidentally stripped. “Don't go.” He said calmly. “Let go of me. What do you want?” I questioned horrifically. “Let me explain everything to you, Livia. I don't want us to be on a different page.” He informed me seriously and I kept shaking my head. “There is nothing to explain, Lyon. My eyes had already seen everything and believe me, I can't stay in this room even for a second with you.” I rambled with words impatiently, staring into his weak eyes. “I know you are scared right now and can't believe what's happening but the truth is that I'm a wolf.” He spilled bluntly and I just stared at him in recluse. “I'm an Alpha wolf who came to the human city in search of my mate, a wife as humans call it.” He added. “I wouldn't have believed in this crazy fantasy if I hadn't seen it with my bare eyes.” I hissed. “I… I wouldn't have lost control and had planned to explain everything to you in the future. But I couldn't help but mesmerize over you when you were having your shower… and that was why I accidentally transformed.” He nervously explained to me and I rolled my eyes away from him. “As much as you have explained yourself and everything to me, I doubt it's something I can take or cope with. I'm sorry.” I said seriously. “Livia.” He tried to stop me but this time, I took my hand farther than he could reach. “Let's just stop here.” Without looking at him, I dashed out of the hotel room - feeling messed up. I couldn't believe I fûcked a wolf and not only that, I used him to deceive my family as my husband. This is crazy! I engaged myself in serious house hunting because I couldn't continue to stay in hotels and remain disorganized, especially since it would be working time soon. After contacting a few apartment agents, I found a suitable one-bedroom apartment for myself. It was classic and already had furniture in it, and using the last penny I had in my bank account, I secured the apartment and was ready to work the hell out of myself until I paid up my loans and became financially stable again. The following week, I reported to work, dressed in my black complete suit outfit. The sound of my heels made platters on the ground as I walked into the working space. I continued walking elegantly with different eyes expression on me. This was my new branch, I didn't know anyone here yet and I had to report to either the manager or director before I started off with my activities. “Greetings, ma'am.” I exchanged warm pleasantries by handshakes with the lady who seemed to be approaching me. “You must be Miss. Livia. Your old branch manager told me about you. I'm Evelyn.” She introduced herself, keeping a stern smile and I nodded. “Nice to meet you. I have come to report for work.” I said. “Alright, your desk is over there and everyone in this department is your colleague.” Our eyes wandered in the bustling-looking space, everyone was on, doing one thing or the other with the copy machine, their computers, and whatnot. Someone was about to walk past her when she suddenly stopped him and my eyes followed her. “Mr. Davon.” She called out to him and I remained stunned. My ex-fiance? He turned and was also surprised to see me, I tried not to show my interest in him while he tucked his hand in his trouser pocket- fixing his eyes on me. “Mr. Davon has also been reassigned to this branch,” She continued speaking as she faced me while I kept nodding like a fool. Why did he change his branch? Did he purposely do this or what? I didn't remember discussing with him about working in the same space. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Davon.” I forced out a smile even when I wasn't pleased to meet him. “Same here, Livia.” Evelyn looked surprised as her eyes danced around us. “Do you both know each other before now?” She asked, giving us a suspicious grin. “No.” And we spilled almost at the same time while letting out sharp shrugs. “Alright, I will leave you to settle down and get to know the others.” With a soft tap on my shoulder, she walked into the hallway and into her office while I sighed, heading to my desk. I completely ignored Davon because I didn't want anything to ruin the peace I was getting already. I spent the entire time learning the working pattern of this branch and understanding my schedule. I got to know a few colleagues sitting around my desk, and they weren't as hostile as their first look was. It was almost closing time and everyone seemed to be rounding up. I took up the file from my desk and faced my colleague, Ameerah. “This is the file, right?” I asked calmly and she nodded sharply. I attempted to leave when I stopped again. “Is our CEO in the office now or should I just leave it to his secretary?” I asked her, just to be on the safer side. “He should be in his office today,” Ameerah said with certainty, and without another word, I left our working space. I arrived at the isolated presidential hallway. The place was quiet and serene, not even the secretary was in sight. With a deep sigh, facing the door of the Chief Executive Officer, I exhaled heavily. “Excuse me, sir, I'm here to submit some documents,” I said through the door, feeling nervous and scared. I had been working with this firm but I had never seen or known who the CEO was. This was my first time meeting him, I had to make a first good impression. “Come in.” A hoarse voice escaped from inside as I opened the door. My eyes were pinned on the ground as I walked into the chilled spacious expensive-looking office. “Sir, I…” My hands were in the air, handing him the documents but I trailed off when our gaze met and he turned out to be someone I knew. “Lyon?” This was indeed crazy. How come Lyon was my CEO?
