~ROUGER~ I settled better onto the bike’s seat, revving the engine softly. The vibration traveled up my arms and through my chest, a brief tether to the world outside my mind, but it didn’t keep thoughts of Mel from consuming me. Her pulse, the curve of her lips, the flicker in her eyes when she denied she wanted me…it stayed with me. I exhaled slowly. I shouldn’t want her; but I did. The street lights flickered over the asphalt as I drove slowly through the streets. I tried focusing on the feel of the tires on the gravel, the hum of the engine…anything but her.
