Settling herself in the car, Pranavi felt suffocated because it hit her that she wasn't a Mehta anymore! Her brown eyes stung upon realization.
Moreover, eyeing Jwalin's stiff expression and his coldness, all the hope and pep talk she had with herself came crashed down.
Involuntarily, tears welled up in her eyes because, although she wasn't happy at Mehta's, at least she was glad that she had a family.
But can she call the Oberoi's her family from now on?
Could she accept her new title when her beloved husband hates her with all his heart?
As the thoughts kept hitting her, unknowingly, Pranavi wailed in agony about her new life.
Glancing at her crying, Jwalin felt bad for her. But as he remembered how this marriage happened, his mind overpowered his senses. Soon the burning hatred in his veins multiplied, seeing her sitting beside him.
Her sniffs, her aroma, the sounds of her bangles, everything irritated him and were driving him insane. He felt he was struggling with himself as a battle slowly started to develop between his heart and mind. But he chose to listen to his mind.
Peeping at her, his face remained blank, his eyes still cold with hatred conveyed in them. His jaw clenched, and adrenaline rushed into his muscles.
"Will you just shut your fu'king wails?" Jwalin yelled at her in his curt voice.
Startled, she gazed at him without making any sound. Seeing that, he snapped, "what?"
But she didn't answer his question, as she was lost in her world. That triggered his rage, he roared, "enough with your filthy act. Don't you have any shame?"
She squinted in confusion, as if what had happened? Her muffled voice mumbled, "What did I do? Why are you shouting like that?"
"Don't you know?" His voice held authority and disgust.
She shook her head in denial, and he gave a dry grin that terrified the s**t out of her. She reminisced, "I've never seen a laugh as scary as his."
Seeing her bewildered and frightened expression, he came closer to her, his hot minty breath fanning on her lips, and she gulped in nervousness while clutching her lehenga tightly.
He took her veil in one swift motion and she jumped in fear, averting her gaze. His presence was making her shiver with an unknown mix of emotions.
He held her chin with a firm grip, causing her to yelp, "look at me." He said in a dangerously slow tone.
She looked straight in his eyes, and for once their worlds stopped. She's lost in his pools of dark eyes, which are terrifying yet comforting to her.
He gracefully traced his long fingers on her tear-stained cheeks, causing butterflies to do somersaults in her insides.
"W..wh...what ar..are y..yo..you...?" She stammered in his proximity as if a lump formed in her throat, but she got cut off with his middle finger settled on her lips, making her flinch.
His grip settled on her nape and he drew her dangerously close to him while her heart was beating as if it'd come out of her body with crazy thoughts.
His eyes gazed at every inch of her face with desire. His lips brushed lightly on her skin, and suddenly he left her feeling perplexed. She didn't even understand what exactly happened between them, and he shouted while messing with his hair, "get out."
She controlled her tears with his harshness and looked through the window, and found the words, "Oberoi Mansion."
"He might want to say get down," she consoled herself and her wildly beating heart.
Jwalin pushed the door harshly and rushed to the door, but his brothers and sisters stopped him.
"There's no entry without our sister-in-law." They said in unison, and he fisted his hands to control the storm that was churning inside of him. He looked around, but she was nowhere.
"Why the heck is she not here? Where's she?" He cursed and went back to her. She remained rooted in the place he left her and he felt his heart clenched in pain seeing her like that.
But his mind always beats his heart. With his long strides, he grabbed her hands roughly and dragged her. She stumbled with her lehenga but he didn't give a damn about her struggles.
"Don't give that expression to my family. Keep a smile on your face." He said in her ears seductively, though rage dancing in his voice.
Looking at them, his family teased, " You have already started your public display of affection? You're so lucky, sister-in-law." But only she knew, that's all a facade!
...
Pranavi sat in the middle of the king-sized bed in Jwalin's room hugging her legs to her stomach, resting her chin on her legs with eyes drooping.
These past few days took a toll on her. She's been restless and tired. Unknowingly, she felt at peace in his room with the not-so-cozy look.
The walls are painted in blackish grey, surrounded by the huge roof touching glass windows on one side of the room, a big manly picture frame of him filled another side of the wall. The white ceiling lights are providing enough vision to observe his room, "our room," her inner voice yelled.
With a sigh, she felt her eyes being closed. She's been waiting for him for so long, yet there's no presence of him. Though he seemed scary, she couldn't help but anticipate his presence. She wanted to know him and give this marriage a real chance.
"But will he allow me to do that? Will he let me in?" That question is bugging her and a frown settled on her forehead.
"What if he wanted to consummate today? Can I do that without even knowing him? Uf, I'm totally inexperienced in this relationship drama!" She groaned as the problems kept on rising and were driving her nuts.
"Relax, Pranavi. Why would he want it when he doesn't even like me? He won't do that?" She tried to console herself in an attempt to make herself believe but failed miserably.
Her palms were sweating with all the uncertainties, and the knock on the door made her breath hitch. She snapped her head towards the door and there stood Jwalin, reeking the smell of alcohol while approaching her.
She felt herself tremble on looking at his dark aura. He's nothing like she ever imagined. She wanted to say hi, but words weren't coming out of her mouth.
His deep gaze is penetrating through her soul, making her succumb to his wishes. His dark black eyes appeared pitch black now, an unknown fire appeared in his eyes.
When he stood in front of her in his full glory, she averted her eyes, unable to stare at him any longer without flinching. He grabbed her veil and threw it in the corner, and she was beyond stunned by his actions.
"What're you doing here?" He asked in his curt tone, and she didn't know what to answer him.
"Should I say I'm waiting for him? What'd he think of me if I said so? He might think I want him now. Omg!! What to say?" She was lost in her thoughts, and he leaned towards her, dangerously close.
His breath fanning on her neck building heat in her stomach. His presence is making her weak, she's no longer in her proper mind to respond when he's this near to her.
She gulped when he took hold of her chin and lifted it to face him. "Answer me!" He said in a slow yet dangerously threatening tone.
She opened her mouth, "I..I'm ..." but she couldn't even form a sentence. "Damn! When did I start stuttering?" She scolded herself for this in her heart.
He turned his head towards her ear, his silky hair strands brushing her ear and neck, making her as red as a tomato. Peeping at her cheeks from sideways, she eyed him through her peripheral vision.
"I don't have all the time for you." He dropped the bomb in his husky tone when his eyes turned ten shades darker. His alcohol mixed with minty breath fell on her ears, sending a shiver down her spine.
But she was so lost in her fear of what was going to happen and forgot to answer him. He gripped her hair roughly, and pulled her closer, "my patience is running thin." He said in a low-pitched rough tone, and she winced in pain with the force he applied to her hair.
"I'm waiting for you!" She said while tears brimming in her brown eyes, but it didn't budge him.
A dry chuckle escaped his lips, making her cringe, and she tried to move away, but his big hands put her in place.
"You're not allowed to leave until I say so. Am I clear?" He left her hair and clutched her cheeks with one hand and grabbed her hand harshly, applying his strength.
"Ah! It's hurting." She said meekly and tried to make herself free, but his grip tightened further with her each attempt. Her struggles disgusted him.
"You wanted it, darling. You disobeyed my order." He said nonchalantly, making her bewildered.
"Listen to me carefully, Pranavi. You better behave with me, else you can't even imagine what I can do to you."
"Why are you like this?" Pranavi couldn't help but ask.
"Hehe! You're asking me? It's all your fault baby." Jwalin said, gazing at her once clear amber eyes which turned blurred due to the tears.
"What did I do?" She asked while keeping a hold of her pain.
"Don't you dare act in front of me? You should know there will be consequences when you think of trifling with me."
"What?" She thought she heard him wrongly!
"I'm not the one you can mess with. I'm not a good man, darling." He declared, making her tears fall uncontrollably.
"I don't even understand what I did wrong?"
Stared at her blankly, "then let me show you!" With that, he placed his alcohol-filled lips on her rosy lips drenched in her tears. He held her waist and she hit him on his chest, making him furious.
"You wanted me, right? Then why are you acting all shy now?"
She didn't respond and her cries rose, making him feel pathetic about himself.
"We're married. It's legal." He said and bit her lips, throwing all his logical reasoning aside. His teeth pulled her lower lip fiercely, giving a metallic taste to him, and she opened her lips in a yelp.
He instantly drove his tongue inside her mouth and tasted every ounce of her mouth hungrily, while her wails wetted his face.
"Don't." She managed to say, but he didn't leave her. His tongue doing its magic on her insides, dancing with hers in unison under his dominance. He knew she was suffocating and left her for a minute to breathe and again grabbed her to give an overwhelming kiss.
Glancing at her, "This kiss is nothing. Don't expect anything else. This is to show my hatred for you." With that, he left her and went to the washroom, and she collapsed on the bed crying harder.
...
He came back in his grey lounge pants, shirtless, exposing his muscular body, and saw her curled up on the bed, still in her bridal attire.
"Pranavi." He called her and she hummed.
"Get up and change."
She craned her neck towards him, and her eyes turned red and puffy. He lifted her from the bed and put her in front of the dressing room.
"Remove this dress and make yourself comfortable." With that, he left her to succumb to her fears. His words and actions seemed completely opposite to her, but never mind. She's already in a mess he created for her.
"He said he hates me? Then why is he acting as if he cares for me?" She questioned, glancing at herself in the mirror.
Staring at the vermillion and touching the nuptial chain, she felt a prick in her heart. "My married life won't be easy." She understood that very clearly from his behavior and talks.
Her red puffy eyes, while the smudged kajal, a bruise on her chin, marks on her hands where he grabbed, make her boil in anger.
"If he wants to play with me, then I'll show him what I can do. Who does he think he is? I won't play according to his demands." Pranavi swore adamantly.
Tore off all the jewelry and costumes, she stood below the shower and cried her heart out, as all the events that took place with her made her exhausted.
She cleaned herself and wiped off the tears, "I don't know what prejudice he has towards me, but I'll prove him wrong."
"I'll make him come to me." A proud smirk settled on her lips with her determination.
