Chapter Eight: The Next Day

1510 Words
Rheya POV After a very tense breakfast between all of us, with my mom being the only one to talk we loaded my bags in Christians vehicle to head to his pack. My father was understandably nervous, I’ve never been off pack grounds without him, but he knew I could handle my own. I only hugged my mom, dad, Aaliyah, and Zach before getting into the vehicle. I’m sure Ben was on Max’s side as they were both giving me pleading looks to stay while glaring at Christian. Christian shook my parent’s hands and promised my safety. I would be back in a few days and even though I was sad to be missing my first elite session I had a feeling that maybe this space would be good for all of us to get some breathing room. Christian hopped into the seat next to me and gave Bradly a nod signaling we were ready to go. The drive was about 4 hours, but it didn’t feel long at all. Christian and I talked almost the whole way, not once did I get any sense of danger from him. That all changed once we hit his packs border. As soon as we crossed over, I could feel the tension in the air, it hit me like a brick. Christian didn’t say another word and his face turned to stone as he looked out the window. “Maybe he’s nervous about bringing his mate to the pack…” Sotiras said nervously. “I don’t know honey; this doesn’t seem like nerves…I’m scared.” I admitted to her, and she whined in agreement before I came back to reality. We made it the pack house in about 5 minutes, the tension rising with every passing minute, at this point I felt like a weight was on my chest. My body tingled, like it was trying to alert me of something. I slowly got out of the car and Bradly was looking at me with a menacing smile plastered on his face. “Home sweet home Luna,” He said. “I am not a Luna, please refer to me as Alpha or Rheya,” I said trying not to sound as scared as I felt. It was then that Christian came around the car and raised his hand to me. With a quick motion. He back handed me, causing me to fall to the floor. He towered over me before he began yelling. “You will be referred to as no such thing! Here in MY world you are a Luna. Nothing more. You will bear me a powerful heir. Nothing else!” In that moment, my world came crashing down, he lied. Everything he said was a lie. He wasn’t a good man; he didn’t love me…they didn’t kill their mates. Instantly my body filled with fury replacing my heart ache. I stood up quickly and tried to hit back but I felt weak and dizzy from getting up quickly. I balanced myself for a second while they laughed at me. I started to swing but he grabbed my arm without even nudging. His grip was hurting me, nobody but my mother had been able to stand against my power. What was happening to me? Christian chuckled again before throwing me to the ground. “I’ve been lacing wolfs bane in your drinks this entire ride. Not enough for you to notice or really hurt you, just enough to weaken you.” He said. I looked over to the tree line, and Christian must have guessed what I was thinking. “Don’t even think about running either. Bradly here could even catch you!” He turned on his heels and Bradly grabbed me by my forearm pulling me up and dragging me into the pack house with him. I fought with all my might as he pulled me through the house, but with every tug I felt weaker and weaker. All my blood pumping must’ve made it travel though my system quicker. I started to scream my lungs out, hoping anybody would take pity on me. Bradly didn’t like this and back handed me again. I could taste the blood spill into my mouth. “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll shut your mouth!” He screamed in my face before dragging me again. I might not be able to fight, but I can make this more difficult for me. I let myself collapse to the floor, so he’d have to carry all my dead weight. However, this didn’t go as planned and Bradly kicked me in the stomach twice. “Are you done?” he asked. I nodded while I caught my breath, he pulled me up again and continued down the hallway. We finally came to a stop at the end of the hallway and Christian opened the last door, while Bradly threw me in. “Home sweet home. This will be your room and the only place you will stay for the rest of your life…well what’s left of it anyways. Behave and there will be no need for punishment, if you act well you will be allowed to eat.” Christian said as he walked out and slammed the door. I just laid in the middle on the room and cried…How could I have been so blind? Moon Goddess why did you do this to me? What of my family? They’re expecting me home soon…my poor brother…he still thinks I’m mad at him. Oh god my pack! I’ll link them! I attempt to link any and everyone in my pack with no response. How can they not hear me? The harder I push to form a link the more my head aches. Eventually I give up, this migraine is not worth it. After a while I heard the lock disengaging and I scrambled to sit up. I crawled backwards until my back hits a wall. In walked Christian with 3 guards behind him. One was wearing extremely thick work gloves while the other two stood in a warrior’s stance. “Restrain her,” Christian said coldly. The two warriors jumped towards me and attempted to grab me, but I wasn’t going down without a fight. I swung and kicked with all my might. I managed to hit one of the men in the groin and while he was down, I clawed the other mans face. In an instant Christian came over and pulled me up by my neck. “Enough! Guard restrain her NOW!” The third man with the gloves came over and reached under the bed, pulling out a long change. Now I get why he had the gloves on. Christian held me down on the bed while the other two guards held my legs and the third man clamped the chain on my ankle. I screamed a blood curdling scream and the silver gripped tightly around my ankle. “You know what this is and what it will do if you continue to fight.” Christian said. “Why are you doing this?!” I screamed at him. Once again, I was met with a swift back hand. “You really need to learn respect. My original plan was to kill you, I couldn’t have some female making me weak. No matter how much I would have fought my wolf would have overpowered me and clouded my emotions. But you obviously hold a great power, so I decided you will give me an heir and maybe even a few more pups, and then I will kill you. As for your family, you will call them tomorrow and say you have fallen in love with this pack. You will renounce your claim as Alpha to that pack. If you so much as hint anything else, I will have your whole pack slaughtered.” He announced getting close to my face. “I will NOT bear any of your pups you disgusting mongrel!” I yelled and spit at him. I flinch, preparing myself for another hit. All I heard was laughter coming from Christian. I opened my eyes to see him wiping his face. “My dear, I will get what I want. Nobody can stop me.” And with that he left. I just laid down on the bed and cried my eyes out again. I wasn’t sure how much time had passed but eventually my exhaustion took over and I fell into a terrible sleep. I awoke several hours later to the sound of the door being opened again. This time though it was a female with a tray of food. She stood hesitantly before I smiled at her and she approached the bed setting the tray down. I know it isn’t her fault, but I feel anger towards her. “Why are you still in this pack?” I ask her. She said nothing as she continued to walk out. “Please eat, we need our strength if we are going to get though this…” Sotiras pleads to me. I block her out and pick up the food. I eat slowly and not long after I finish, I feel sick to my stomach. Like my body is rejecting the food. I lay down again and force myself to drift off to sleep.
